The Only Delicacy

24 The Three Lost Children

As the cupid flew around the academy, Alfred's head became muddled into confusion, worry, irritation, and most of all, resentment towards his assignment.

Presently, the strongest scent and the most distinct presence that his assignment had left were on her 1st year high school classroom and on the clinic.

However, even in these two places, Alfred could not find her anywhere!

As a matter of fact, his assignment's presence seemed very faint, as if she was not schooling in the academy in the first place. Despite having an invisible connection with his assignment, that connection was not like the Earth's Global Positioning System or the so-called, 'GPS.'

It could only inform him the general place and location of his assignment, not the exact location.

Furthermore, that connection only vibrates like an alarm within his body if ever his assignment would get hurt, not when she was attacked by those filthy worms!

From the thought of that, Alfred's face darkened greatly and his brows furrowed downwards while his speed became literally like lightning going past each and every classroom, office, and hallway.

"These d*mn old dirty minded higher-ups! Can't they simply instill some sort of system for that woman to not be raped?! She's just a fr**k*n' CHILD!!" Alfred cursed out beyond the ends of the world as he zoomed past every place he could find.

While he cursed, Alfred just realized a depressing and annoying fact.

This academy was way too big for his liking. Especially for his toddler-sized body.

Despite how much he lashed out towards the air, Alfred's muddled mind was not able to see the errors of his words.

What he did not take note of was how all the connections were already at their system's most upgraded state, which was generalizing the place of the assignment, not the exact place.

Unfortunately for the cupid, further improvement would only result to the irreparable damage of the connection, because the number of connections filling up the entire world called, 'Earth,' was equal to the number of people currently occupying it.

Hence, it was close to impossible just to simply upgrade the connection.

Moreover, what Alfred also did not take note of was the true responsibility of a cupid. Apparently, his brain had become way too messed up by his assignment that he had literally forgotten what the two main responsibilities of a cupid were:

To guard their assignment from any harm and to help them in their love lives.

When the higher-ups had heard Alfred's intense and loud curse due to his big mouth, they immediately harrumphed and started bearing a grudge at the baby cupid for his ungratefulness towards their hard work.

Not only that, those in-charge of their assignment would grow unnecessary feelings for them, thereby causing a disruption in the peaceful and balanced state of the world.

However, since Scarlet was a being literally void of all dirt and impurities, she was a special case. So, of course, there were some exceptions for her. Therefore, the feelings that Alfred had developed would not cause such a disruption to the world's present state.

No! In fact, it would.

Above the highest clouds, the higher-up angels smiled darkly while looking at the academy a million miles away from them through a gigantic crystal ball.

If the baby cupid dared to curse out or complain some more, then there was no telling what these higher-ups would do.

As he was flying all around in circles and became literally lost in a measly academy, Alfred felt a dark feeling rushing through his veins, making him stop in his tracks within the hallway and shiver with his back soaked in sweat.

"Why the hell did I just shiver right now?" Alfred softly murmured within his mind.

Apparently, Alfred did not know that he had gathered up a bunch of haters within heaven.

"If that was the feeling of something grave happening to his assignment, then he must speed up now!!" Alfred thought anxiously.

As the baby cupid multiplied his speed by three times, Alfred immediately heard the two loud and familiar voices behind one corner of the hallway.

When he had heard those female voices, his eyes immediately brightened up like the sun and he immediately flew towards their direction.

"Nene, are you sure that we are going in the right direction? Did you really see them running towards this direction?" Jojo asked her best friend with a look of annoyance and impatience, as she pointed towards that doubtful direction.

"I'm sure that I saw them running towards that direction! It's just that they were too fast!" Nene replied back with anger, her eyes burning with annoyance at how untrusting her best friend was. Sometimes, she even doubted if they were best friends at all.

"Oh? They were too fast?" Jojo replied with a hint of mischief and disbelief.

"They were as fast as lightning! Like literally, Jojo!" When she had heard her best friend's sarcastic remark, Nene shouted back with burning fury and irritation.

Then, as if she had realized something, she sighed upon herself.

Even the president did not believe her. And that president was her best friend.

Nene was a sad and pitiful girl.

"Mhm~ How about we check in the restroom?" Jojo answered back as if she had not heard what her best friend had angrily replied at all.

"Ha? That dirty restroom? Do you think that place is fitting for our beautiful and handsome idols?! And why on earth would they be there out of all places? Huh?" Nene swiftly replied back with the same hint of mischief and disbelief, because she still held a grudge for her best friend's sarcasm.

"If we can't find them in the obvious places, then we might as well look for them in the hidden places where they could not be seen by the public eye. Idiot!" Jojo also swiftly replied back, but with a smug smile. She certainly appeared very proud at how brilliant her mind was.

At the next moment, both the baby cupid floating above them and Nene panting from anger all brightened up and loudly exclaimed, "Oh!!"

Indeed, for these muddled, messed up, and exhausted heads, that sort of illogical way of thinking was certainly logical.

"Okay! Let's visit all the restrooms we can find!" Nene excitedly shouted back and ran towards every restroom in the academy, despite how tired her legs were or how big the academy was.

Of course, Jojo followed her lead from behind and wisely saved up her energy by taking advantage of her friend's own.

Right now, the baby cupid was certainly very proud of himself for finding these two well-known leaders of the Kyle x Scarlet fan base.

Apparently, because of also not knowing where his assignment was, Alfred silently and obediently followed them all the way towards their grand adventure to the academy's restrooms, despite having god-like speed and powers.

"Indeed, since our goals are the same, then more heads are definitely better than one," Alfred thought smugly, proud of how much of a genius he was. He could save more energy and find his assignment faster.

It was two birds with one stone!

Alfred's way of thinking definitely showed that he had actually forgotten his true capabilities as an almighty cupid, for he could find his assignment through a flick of his finger – his supernatural powers.

Unfortunately for the baby cupid, if he had simply stayed on the clouds and thought rationally before making any thoughtless and unwise actions, Alfred would have easily found her for two reasons.

His powers and the rooftop.

Therefore, the three lost children's grand adventure had only just begun, thereby taking up most of their time in being lost and finding nothing out of the ordinary.

As the higher-ups saw this bizarre yet amusing development, they laughed upon themselves at the baby cupid's misfortune and loudly snickered, "Serves you right, d*mn cupid!"

This time, the higher-up angels' grudge towards the baby cupid had lessened by a hundred folds, for they were eager to watch and enjoy the show.
