The Only Delicacy

56 The Heart Vs. The Mind

As they continued answering the surprise diagnostic test, the students dared not to even glance once at the perpetrator and simply bore with the perpetrator's imposing and freezing aura that made them shiver for a reason they did not know of.

Did they do something wrong?

Rather than wrong, wouldn't it be more correct to say that someone was caught cheating?

If that was the case, the whole scenario became different.

This time, their slightly visible shivers became obvious as they greatly trembled and sweated out of fear. Their hearts instinctively beat rapidly as if they were small preys facing the most powerful and tenacious predator.

On the outside, they were diligently answering the exam. But on the inside, they kept worrying and praying that it had nothing to do with them.

When he saw the other students' reaction, Sir Charles came back to his senses and immediately erased all tracks of his tenacious aura in the next blink of an eye, which made the students wonder if they had imagined things again.

On the outside, Sir Charles portrayed perfect nonchalance and elegance. However, on the inside, his calm and orderly mind became unsettled and turbulent for many reasons and questions.

Needless to say, it was the first time he felt this way, especially the abnormal beating of his heart. Rather than saying he did not know what to do when faced with this kind of situation, it would be better to say that he really payed a blind eye to it.

Only one word came to his mind. That word was perfect to simplify his thousand feelings and thoughts to one conclusion,

"Hindrance."

Meanwhile, the culprits, Scarlet and Kyle, were completely oblivious to the one second change of events as they were also amidst their own unsettled and turbulent mind for many reasons.

However, unlike sir Charles' excellent facade, Kyle did not realize that he had lost his cool facade because his whole facial expression was obviously love struck, while Scarlet also did not realize that her usual nonchalance gave away when she started to completely focus her attention outside the window.

On the next days, Sir Charles did not make the same blunder like last time and payed no heed to the brat eyeing his target.

One week later, Sir Charles caught sight of her visiting the clinic first thing in the morning before he went to his class. His steps instinctively halted and his brows slightly furrowed downwards when he saw the two wounds on her elbows.

Needless to say, Sir Charles already knew why she had those wounds. He knew that it was a normal occurrence every time his target was assigned to a difficult mission. He could also see that it was small enough to not even be worth of his time or worry.

However, why was his heart aching? Why was he losing composure over a small wound?

Despite his heart yelling out the answer through its own manner of speaking, Sir Charles disregarded all those irrelevant thoughts and ignored the yells of his heart as he continued walking to his first class once more like nothing had happened.

Once lunch came, Sir Charles dismissed the class several minutes earlier before the bell rang, making all of the unfortunate and pitiful students finally relieved once more.

Yes, he payed no attention to his heart.

However, his actions speak otherwise.

Even though he seemed calm, he still elegantly brisk walked towards the clinic. Even though he could bear with the restlessness wrecking havoc within, his heart kept yelling out to him to the point that it became annoying, so it left him with no choice but to satisfy his heart's irrelevant pleas.

He had to go to the clinic, whether his target was still there or not.

Once he had arrived, the door was slightly opened and the room inside seemed quiet. As a matter of fact, it was too quiet that it would make someone think that no one was there. However, since that person was Sir Charles, the light breathing never escaped past his sharp ears.

'So, she was still there?'

Despite how soft it was, Sir Charles knew it came from her and wondered if her wound was not what it seemed on the outside.

It did not seem serious.

But, was he wrong perhaps?

When he thought of that, he never realized the tinge of anxiety his brown eyes revealed.

Contrary to his calm expression, Sir Charles directly went inside the clinic without following his usual proper etiquette and followed the direction of that sound.

Once he slightly opened the curtain of the bed, Sir Charles knew that he was correct as always. That light breathing really came from his target. Even though she was covered by a blanket, he knew that her wounds were not serious at all and that she was simply asleep.

From that conclusion, all hints of anxiety was erased.

However, instead of going back to the usual blank facade, his face was painted with something else.

He did not expect that his target was actually sleeping with someone else!

From the shape of the bulging blanket, it was obvious to see that there was a person next to her. Furthermore, from how large the other bulge looked, it was also obvious to discern that person next as a man. It was also obvious to see how indecent their position was, because of how close they were, to the point that the two bulges seemed to merge into one!

Sir Charles froze in place when he saw another unexpected scene in front of him.

As he unconsciously froze, he never took note as to how long he stood there like a statue.

He was used to many boys liking his target, since his target was literally one in a million. She had the perfect beauty. Not only that, she had the brain and the attitude to back it all up.

But, being used to it did not mean he was alright with it.

Since he was an immature boy once and was now a wise adult and since his target never bothered to reciprocate their feelings, Sir Charles left a blind eye to them despite the countless bloody scenes appearing over his mind again and again.

In his heart, he would love to separate that filthy brat away from the injured girl.

After separating them, Sir Charles would drag that brat outside the school's perimeter in order to satisfy the blood lust powerfully raging within him which occurred out of the blue. In fact, this blood lust was powerful enough to suck the common sense out of him and just...

Kill the brat right here and now.

However, despite how strong his blood lust was, Sir Charles merely stood in place and stared at them with a perfectly blank facade.

He already had many experiences, especially the reoccurrences of blood lust now and then. Even if it was 10 times stronger than the others, his heart still had great control over his actions for only one reason.

His target was still sleeping.

Even though he could not see her, her peaceful and light breathing was enough to put the common sense back in him and pause him from all his tracks.

If he blindly did what he had wanted, he would wake her up and he did not want that since he knew how tiring a mission was, no matter how small or big.

Even though that was his heart's logical reason, his mind thought differently.

'Is this man somehow related to the girl?' Sir Charles thought as his eyes had unknowingly revealed a slight hint of expectation.

If that was really the case, then he must observe this event without fail in order to fill up the missing puzzle pieces.

Right when he had thought of that, Sir Charles noticed the girl's slight movements and immediately went outside for he knew they were about to wake up sooner or later. Even though he went outside, he still left the door slightly open and stood in a corner where he could observe everything taking place through a perfect angle.

However, once they woke up, that small hint of expectation was immediately crushed, while the raging blood lust raged all the more, to the extent that an experienced assassin like him could barely keep it contained within.

That brat was asking for her name! They obviously did not know each other! They were not even somehow related!

How in the world did they end up in the same bed?

When he thought of that question, the answer came to him as easy as pie.

Since it was his target, it was only natural that men would take their chances. This fact made him continuously bear with the persistent headache, which was one of the symptoms of his great endurance over his blood lust ever since his target's first day of school.

What added on to his persistent headache was the fact that this brat was actually Kyle's twin, who was another great headache to deal with.

"Tsk." Sir Charles softly clicked his tongue as he massaged his temples with the same blank expression.

BAM!

Right when he was in the midst of massaging his temples, Sir Charles saw Kyle swiftly running towards the clinic and banging the door open with both a terrible and furious expression.

At once, a great, imposing and ruthless aura was unleashed and then, another similar imposing aura was added on to it.

From his perspective, Sir Charles saw the two brats indirectly fighting over his target, which made him slightly amused. He was too focused on their 5 second fight proxy war that he did not realize that their auras alone were on par with experienced assassins. He also did not realize how strong the effects of their auras were to the entire academy.

His mind only thought of one thing.

If they fought right now and one would end up dead, or preferably both, there was no doubt that his raging blood lust would be slightly satisfied.

However, contrary to his expectations, his innocent target actually volunteered to become the sacrifice right at the very next second, which of course made him slightly disappointed. It would have been a million times better if these brats had finished settling things themselves.

In a different way, Sir Charles' raging blood lust was still slightly eased without him even realizing it. He also never realized the small hint of worry he had for her, which was plainly revealed in his light brown eyes.

However, her next move smashed all the small pieces of worry down to the ground and brought back an even more raging and furious blood lust within. That blood lust was exactly like an untamed beast incessantly rampaging back and forth in order to be freed from its cage!

His target was actually hugging that brat!

When he saw that scene, Sir Charles was not frozen in place like the twins.

Instead, a layer of ice was added on to his originally cold and detached expression. Even though he had never once unleashed or revealed his own powerful and intimidating aura, if anyone saw him right now, including those few outstanding assassins of the same rank, it was not an exaggeration to say that they would be greatly petrified to the point that they would have no choice but to obediently comply with his commands.

His blood lust was too strong, so strong that even his proficient self-control over his emotions were now helpless against it!
