The Pokemon Emissary Among Worlds

Chapter 97 - Unforeseen Development (2)

At Skypeia, a skinny, thirteen-year-old Shandian boy ran through the forest until he reached the entrance to the Shandia Village. He exclaimed in relief and was about to reach the high ground when someone called him.

"Hey! Wyper! Did you visit the Outskirts again?" A black-haired, winged young girl shouted as she ran towards him barefooted. "Aren't you afraid that a Skypeian might find you?!"

Wyper snorted. "I don't give a damn about them, Raki. I've seen something amazing! I can't wait to report my findings to Shandia Chief."

Raki tilted her head slightly and asked, "What's so amazing that made you act like that?"

"A statue shaped like a dog! I don't know what it means but a thunder strike from above and a statue appeared right from the ground!"

Raki laughed as she clutched her stomach. "You're so...funny. You'd expect the Chief to believe your story?"

"I don't care if you believe me or not. Move away." Wyper dashed straight to where the chief's house was and told him about the news.

At the bottom of the Reverse Mountain, just beside the exit that led to paradise, the Twin Cape stood unaffected by the test of time.

It was an ordinary day for Crocus, the caretaker of the lighthouse, as he rested himself on the reclining bed. He was reading his daily newspaper when he heard a gushing torrent just outside. Curious, he dropped what he was doing and checked the noise when he saw a waterfall that fell from heaven. It lasted for a few minutes before the water disappeared.

Crocus moved closer and realized that a dog-like statue had appeared right where the waterfall dropped.

Foodvalten, an island in the New World, was a territory under the protection of Whitebeard Pirates.

The residents inside the small island were running back and forth like ants because of the sudden activity of the volcanic island a few kilometers away from them. Just now, they felt a slight tremor.

"What's happening?!"

"Huh? Look, a boat's coming from the sea!"

"It's the investigators! They're finally here!"

At once, the residents rushed altogether to the port and waited for the boat to dock. The authorities tried their best in maintaining the peace to avoid riots and accidents.

The mayor realized that the person he hired to investigate the volcanic activity just entered the backdoor. With a hopeful gaze, he asked, "Sir Alex, what's the situation? Do we have to evacuate?"

Alex gave him a comforting smile and shook his head. "Don't worry, Mayor. There is another reason as to why the island is acting that way. Rest assured, your place is safe."

The mayor exhaled in relief and uttered, "That's good to hear. Anyway, can you tell me the source of the tremors?"

"Blame the dog-like statue for these troubles..."

Okami was unaware that something important was happening without his knowledge. What mattered to him right now was to train and slaughter monsters.

Sometimes, Okami could hear the wailings of a kid from time to time, which he suspected to be Ace and Luffy. He wondered what tortures they were experiencing under Glen's training. No matter what, he knew that the two kids were meant to shine in bigger platforms and they would survive this ordeal.

A month passed by in a flash.

Okami sensed that his power and stamina was getting stronger due to the huge amount of blood he absorbed from the monsters he killed. His proficiency with his Altered Ninetales and Altered Haunter forms were increased by several notches. Too bad, he was still unable to unlock the third forms of Altered Ninetales and Altered Haunter.

The appointed time had arrived and he needed to leave the island to continue his visit to the other side of the ocean. He activated his Observation Haki and searched for his companions, only to find their auras at their meeting place. At once, he teleported right behind them and shouted, "Booyah!".

Glen was used to it and ignored his prank like a pro but the other two took it hard. Luffy jumped like a kangaroo and accidentally hit the unsuspecting Ace with his body.

"Hah! Scaredy cat!" Okami laughed boisterously when he saw their ugly expressions. "You should have looked right at the mirror and see your funny faces!"

Ace grabbed his weapon from his back and pointed at him. "Wanna die?!"

Luffy laughed as well when he realized that it was just Okami scaring them. "Hah! It's all fun, Ace. You're such a wimp!"

"You dare to call me a wimp?!" Ace grumbled aloud while he punched Luffy's head.

Glen coughed lightly and the two stopped at once.

Okami was in sheer shock when he saw these two kids being obedient for once. He gave the old man an inquisitive stare and wondered what happened within their training.

Just as he was about to inform them of his plan, he noticed a silhouette of a ship that was sailing towards the island they were currently at. He absorbed Fearow and Pidgeot and realized that his suspicion was correct - a ship was indeed coming for them. Scanning the structure of the ship it seemed to be a pirate ship because it had its flag hoisted above the pole. He squinted his eyes when he observed that the images painted on the flag was somewhat familiar to him.

"A blue flag and a circle with a triangular tip above and two bone-like legs below the image..."

Glen heard what Okami said and asked, "What are you talking about, Boss?"

Okami pointed at the sea horizon. "A ship's about to pass this island."

Glen looked ahead and frowned. "Indeed. I can see what you're talking about."

Luffy and Ace bickered with each other while Okami and Glen waited for the ship to arrive.

Soon, the full image of a pirate ship came into their view. It was smaller than SS Anne yet Okami felt funny because of the sense of familiarity towards the flag symbol.

After a few minutes, five people disembarked the ship and landed on the ground.

One of them took out a gadget and exclaimed, "Looks like Boss Arika's right. This tool is really powerful. It can determine our target's location as long as he is within the radar's range."

"Did you just doubted our Boss?! You sure are funny!" The blonde-haired female took out her sword from her scabbard and said, "Let's finish the task."

"Will you stop scaring our friend here?" The young man took out his Pokeballs and asked, "You're Okami Okaya, right?"

"Yes, it's me." Okami ignored the rest of them and confronted the one who was at the center of their formation. "It seems like you are the leader of your group. What's your name?"

"Observant fellow. I'm Dennis, one of the Vice Commanders of Team Aqua."

"Team Aqua?!" Okami almost wanted to curse loudly when he found out their identity. There was no coincidence in this world and he knew that someone who was familiar with Pokemon was behind them. He remembered the name that they mentioned a while ago and asked, "Who's Arika?"

Dennis did not answer him and summoned his only pokemon. At once, a quadrupedal Pokémon resembling a fully-grown lion emerged.

When Okami recognized what the pokemon was, he guessed that something drastic was happening without his knowledge. "A Luxray? How can a Pokemon Generation 4 exist in this world?"

The rest of Team Aqua followed what their vice-captain did and several other pokemon appeared before them - Driftblim, Cherrim, Staraptor, Roserade, and Skuntank.

"Glen! Come beside me!" Okami shouted as he absorbed his full-defense combo pokemon and used Harden.

Glen grabbed Ace and Luffy and rushed straight to Okami. As soon as the trio was behind him, he immediately touched them and teleported hundreds of meters away from the enemies.

"What's happening? Why can't I teleport outside of the island?" Okami asked as he detected an invisible barrier that was surrounding the island.

Glen's eyes widened. "Are we trapped, Boss?!"

Okami nodded his head. "Glen, take care of these two brats. Their target is me and you will be safer if we separate."

"I can fight them! I won't run!" Ace refuted.

Luffy's voice quivered and muttered, "I...I can fight as well!"

Okami summoned Aerodactyl, Charizard, and Fearow before them and instructed, "You three, take each one and fly away. Try to escape but be careful with the barrier. I suspect that we are totally trapped like a caged rat."

"I said I'm not - "

"You're not running, Ace. You're just leading some of the enemies away from me to lighten up the pressure I'm facing, okay?" Okami reasoned out.

Ace paused for a bit before agreeing and climbed atop Charizard while Glen hopped aboard Aerodactyl. Luffy had no choice but to ride on Fearow.

Okami exhaled in relief when he saw them passing the island's territory. He was about to escape when he noticed that the three pokemon halted in the air. "Shit. Looks like my guess is correct. We can't leave unless we defeat these motherf.u.c.kers."

He chose to wait for his enemy because it was useless to escape. He was surprised when he saw Dennis coming alone. "Where are your other companions?"

"All of them are chasing those critters. Don't worry, they have no chance to win at all."

Okami chuckled. "Are you that confident in facing me?"

"Of course. I've known all about you through my Boss. With the powers he had given me, I am sure that I am more than enough to kill you."

Okami snapped his fingers but he frowned when he could not summon his pokemon. He intended to use all of them as back-ups but somehow, something was impeding his powers.

Dennis sneered when he noticed Okami's uneased expression. "You're wondering why you can't summon Pokemon, right?"

Indeed, that was his problem right now. All of his attempts failed miserably. Even then, he could still act calm because of the Calm Mind effect and asked, "May I know why is this so?"

"I guess I'll just answer the questions of a soon-to-be-dead man. Thanks to my Boss, we have something to use against your kind, Pokemon Emissary. You can only summon three pokemon, nothing more."

Since Okami had summoned the three flying pokemon earlier, then it was understandable as to why he could not summon the rest of his pokemon. For now, he could only rely on himself to attack. But he was not worried because his Altered Ninetales and Altered Haunter form were his real trump cards.

"Tell me, who is your Boss? What do you know about Pokemon Emissaries like me?"

Dennis cackled like a true villain and replied, "I will tell you if you can defeat me. Be careful, I am a Devil Trainer as well."

He stood on all-fours and his body size increased while a single plant started sprouting on his back. His white skin changed into a combination of green and brown while his ears were replaced by sharp horns on both sides.

As he became larger, the shells on his back became more prominent, with three triangular, stony extensions resembling mountain peaks appeared on the top of the shell.

All of these things happened in mere seconds but the grandiose of the transformation was overwhelming.

"A Torterra?! And why is this so f.u.c.k.i.n.g huge?!"
