The President's Lover is a Fighter

Chapter 391 - They Will Not Forgive You

"No! Please, let me go… Please!" Lanying kept pleading with the men who kidnapped her as they carried her outside the private home.

With one man already touching her legs, she demanded as her tears continued to flow down her cheeks, "Stop it! Stop! Please."

There were five of them in total, including the driver. When those who dealt with Anges and Clifford's party returned to the van, it alarmed them to see the driver already lifeless.

"What's going on? Why is he dead?"

They checked the driver and saw he had no wounds, but the marks on his neck suggested he was strangled to death.

The man that was holding Lanying put an arm around her neck, shielding himself from any attack. They knew it was impossible for Clifford's men to have done the killing as they were all inside the garage.

The kidnappers looked around but saw no one. Two of them quickly moved the lifeless driver to the back of the van. They could not just leave him, considering his connection with them.

"Let's leave immediately!" Said their leader, who tried to turn on the engine, but no matter how much he turned the key, the van would not start. He looked around and saw a car parked outside the garage, not too far from them. He then commanded, "Look for the car keys!"

Those who carried a weapon kept pointing to any direction, not knowing where their emery was hiding.

Nearly fifteen minutes had passed, yet their colleague had not returned. They feared the worst for their companion that the one holding Lanying pointed a gun at her. "Whoever you are, you better let us go or we will kill this woman!"

"Check inside!" commanded the leader. "Find the key!"

Already scared for his life, the man directed to go inside the house ran to the highway, leaving his colleagues behind. His actions upset their leader that he fired shots at him, but after only two rounds, he realized he had already run out of bullets.

He failed to make a hit due to the darkness of the night. He turned to the man holding Lanying and said, "Give me your gun! Give it to me!"

The man reluctantly gave his gun and held on to Lanying tightly. Knowing that their enemy may be inside the house, he dragged her to the other side.

Eventually, their leader pointed the gun at him, saying, "Go inside! Go inside and look for the car keys!"

"What the f - "

BANG!

He shot a bullet to the ground, reminding him of who had the pistol. "Leave the girl here and get the car keys!"

The man had no choice. He gritted his teeth while slowly entering the house. After a minute of seeing his college leave to find the keys, the leader pointed the gun at Lanying saying, "I'm sorry, my dear, but I can't leave any witnesses."

Lanying who had been pleading non-stop begged for her life again. She lowered her head and placed her hands on the ground asking to be left alive, but before she knew it she heard the leader cry out in pain.

She looked up to find Gabriel putting an arm around his neck, choking him forcefully while his other hand stole away his pistol. He kept twisting his arm, applying all his strength until the kidnapper coughed several times, losing his strength.

Lanying saw Gabriel snap his neck in front of her. It frightened her, but at the same time, she was relieved that her kidnappers were dealt with.

Gabriel saw the Lanying's pitiful face. It was full of wetness, her make-up completely smudged. Her wrists were bruised and she no longer wore shoes. He took a deep breath before saying, "Lanying… are you fine?"

She nodded as she continued to cry. She covered her face and howled, realizing that it was over.

The man that had gone inside the house saw Gabriel holding the gun. He no longer confronted him and ran to the highway. Unfortunately for him, Gabriel's back-up was already waiting at the main road and captured those that flee.

BANG! BANG!

Hearing the gunshots, Gabriel immediately knew the rest of the kidnappers were done for. He turned back to Lanying saying, "Hurry, we better leave."

He carried Lanying in his arms, knowing she had no strength to walk. He was met by four of Lu Fang's men. One of them drove in his car.

Before returning to the hotel he instructed them, "Make sure the house has no surveillance. Put the dead bodies together and burn the house to be sure."

"Yes, sir."

Driving back to the hotel, Lanying sat in the front seat with Gabriel. Listening to him earlier, she could tell that he was used to this kind of danger. She asked, "How come - you - you are so collective despite what happened?"

He did not look at her but he said, "Lanying to most people, life is simple, but we - me, Lu Fang, Andy even dad, even Hanxi… we have enemies…. Should you get involved with any of us, you must learn to protect yourself or at least... have the right state of mind and not run into the dark streets alone."

She fell silent. Lanying looked outside the window and although it was pitch black, she maintained her gaze, not wanting to show Gabriel her regret. Only she could fully understand how much she hated herself.

After arriving to the hotel, Gabriel used his coat to cover Lanying. Still, he carried her up to her room but just as she was about to leave, Lanying said, "I'm - I'm scared to be alone."

Gabriel took a deep breath and said, "I'm not good at comforting - "

"Please…Please…" said Lanying. At that point, Gabriel was the only one she saw who sincerely helped her. She felt she was safer with him. She was in a foreign country and had just been taken by armed men. She direly needed companionship.

Gabriel did not realize how it happened, but he woke up in the morning laying next to Lanying in her hotel room. She was curved into a ball, facing him and holding to his shirt very tightly. When he tried to release her hold, her hands trembled and held him even tighter.

"Please… don't leave me here," said Lanying, still traumatized from her encounter last night.

Gabriel saw her sorry state once more that he allowed her to remain holding him. After another two hours of just being in the same state, he said, "Lanying. Lu Fang and Andy, they will not forgive you. Not that Andy is not forgiving."

He stopped himself, remembering how many times Andrea and Lu Fang had overlooked his faults because he was his father's son. He stared at the ceiling before resuming his thoughts, "and if they would give you a chance, they will be hard on you."

He heard her cry again, and somehow, it pierced through his heart. A big part of him wanted to help her. He offered, " If you like. You can work with me in the UK instead."
