She felt the highly concentrated sheet of mana slowly going over and through her body. The foreign mana was exceedingly uncomfortable as it slowly passed alongside her own mana without interfering with it. The density of the foreign mana was extremely fine, as though they were grains of sand so small that they flowed through the cracks of her flesh, cracks so thin that they could not be seen with the n.a.k.e.d eye alone.

Perhaps the only thoughts that prevented her from stopping this almost unbearably uncomfortable feeling was that she knew that she could very easily use her own mana to flush out all of the foreign mana that was invading her system. That the foreign mana belonged to someone who did not intend to do her any harm. And maybe most importantly that this was, so to speak, a very necessary evil. For both her and her child.

As her eyes subconsciously looked up at the woman performing the scan, the woman seemed to notice her gaze, and without a change in the level of the intense focus that she had been placing on the procedure, she gave her a small smile and a nod without turning her head.

Seeing the smile made her remember about the long history the two had had. This woman with a very gentle demeanor was Suna Slexir. She was one of the best medical cultivators in the entire kingdom.

Since she was 41 years old and was introduced to Suna by Rexar, whenever something severe had happened to her, she had been taken care of by her. While those times were not too plentiful, after the first three encounters with her, they had both found each others' personalities to be naturally very harmonious, so they had visited each other relatively often for chats since then, and by now were fairly close friends.

Suna finally finished her scanning and looked at her, giving her a large genuine smile.

"Alesar has passed the critical stage, and he seems to be doing better than ever. Congratulations, Alsea, I'm proud of both of you." She said, resting her palm on Alsea's arm.

"Thank you Suna, I can never tell you how grateful I am for all the help you've given me." She in turn rested her palm on top of Suna's and gave the older woman a very ecstatic smile.

"Oh, don't say that now, if I don't help my family with my skills, then why would I decide to be a doctor in the first place?" said Suna, giving her arm a light squeeze before sitting down on the single seat violet embroidered dark blue sofa near Alsea's bed to rest.

Alsea simply gave her a grateful smile. She knew that doing such a thorough scan was very taxing, even for someone at Suna's level. And despite the woman's youthful appearance, she was the youngest elder of the family, nearly twice her own age, so something being taxing for her was only a testament to how hard to perform the technique really was.

That even with all the work the elders all had, and even with how the technique was so difficult to perform, the fact that this was the third time she had done the scan for her, clearly showed how much the woman truly cared for her family.

"How much of the elixir is left?" Suna asked her while lightly crossing her legs as she rested on the sofa.

"About three-fifths." Alsea answered, while turning slowly onto her side on the bed to face the woman.

"Hmm. You can safely stop using the elixir now. He has acclimated to the temperature and should be completely safe. You should save the elixir in the family's blaze storage and use it when you have recovered to full health. I recommend not waiting for too many years however, since even with the quality of our storages, the efficacy will still go down very slowly over time." Suna advised.

Alsea nodded, saying "Thank the dragons nothing happened to Alesar."

  "Hmm. Indeed." Suna agreed.

After that the two women languidly rested, one on the bed and one on the sofa.

A short wile later there was a knock at the door of the room before it was opened and Bera walked in looking a little anxious, but calmed down once she saw the comfortable atmosphere in the room. She gave a nod towards Suna before smiling towards her and asked, "I assume everything is alright, milady?"

"Better than alright. It seems Alesar has acclimated to the temperature. I can use the elixir again for one more try later." She replied, giving Bera the same ecstatic smile she had given Suna.

The joy was palpable on Bera's face as she said "Congratulations, milady!"

"Thank you Bera, thank you." She said as she watched Bera come closer and sit down near her at the edge of her bed.

"You are doing well, Elder Suna? You look as young as ever. Thank you for always looking after milady." Bera smiled towards Suna.

"You should really drop the formalities a little Bera, I'm not that older than you, and yet you always make me feel old when you call me elder." Suna pouted and turned her head in faux annoyance.

"Haha..." Bera and Alsea both laughed happily.

The three women continued chatting merrily, all very happy and relieved with the results of the scan.

They would all soon be having a new member join the family, and that was always a great cause to be jovial about. It was only a matter of time and patience at this point, no more need for uncertainty and worry.
