The Princess And The Demon

The deafening high pitched scream was followed by a strong wave of cold wind throwing everything and everyone away in it opposite direction, the forest ground was freezing and ice formed on it surface, covering the little plants as well as the giant roots, snow crystals were forming on the air, dancing along side the ashes before over numbering them, the frost spread from the trees' roots to their burning branches and leafs , the flames were slowly extinguished by frost and the trees were frozen solid one by one..

Things happened too quickly, one minute the troops were being burnt alive and squashed by giant trees all while struggling to catch a breath without suffocating with the black smoke, the next minute the trees were frozen, the air was frozen, the ground was frozen and there was ice forming on their armors while vapor formed every time they breathed out, taking this fortunate turn of events they gathered what courage and strength left and attacked the frozen trees, cutting off their roots and branches and freeing themselves and each other from it trap, their path toward the castle soon became clear with the frozen trees breaking down and crumbling to the ground like fragile snowmen, they did not know how did was this freezing hell unleashed, and even with the frost bite and the numbness on their limbs they were grateful for it, anything is better than a burning pit...

Ice kept on creeping forward, Henry knew for sure it was Rima's doing but he didn't understand how was she able to unleash so much power, nonetheless he was thankful, they were going to die screaming if it wasn't for her sudden burst of power, he was worried about her though, he never saw her or any other demon for that fact use so much power on a single attack, could it be because she fed on the Gods' watch leader? It could be considering how powerful he was, maybe that Mao's blood and soul intensified her powers and blessed them with this last moment miracle that saved all of their lives, At least that is what he hoped for, he couldn't bring himself to think that something bad happened to her, he was still in shock, still mourning the loss of his close friends, but not in his darkest thoughts he wished for something bad to happen to her...

Unfortunately, what was happening to the ice queen was not a miracle nor a sudden rush of power, but what Henry feared and didn't want to imagine...

She was breaking, her heart break was followed by a mind break, Rima wasn't an ordinary woman after all, her entire life was an endless battle against the closest people to her, she fought and fought non stop, and the one person who loved her had to die so soon for her to survive, this was her life, endless battle of survival, and along the way, many people fell, friends, foes, family, strangers, she kept on fighting her way through though, pushing the pain away, deep inside her, thinking it was gone while it only acc.u.mulated through the years not knowing how destructive these feelings were until she reached her limit...

Rima wasn't aware of the chaos she was causing, she was somehow imprisoned inside her sorrows, she felt like she had enough, of hiding and enduring, she just wanted to let the pain go, cry it all out, rest and unburden her c.h.e.s.t, but a demon's pain wasn't like a human's, Demons powers came from dark magic that fed on pain and agony and sacrifice, thus, her magic was at it peak, destroying everything around her while sacrificing her in the process...

Henry who was slightly hopeful suddenly felt alarmed when the wind stopped, he tried his best to find her her but to no use, the once golden forest was now covered in snow and ice, the grey air was glowing with white light reflected by the small flakes, he was about to run where he last spoted her even if she wasn't there anymore but a soldier behind him called for his attention...

"Your Grace, The barrier! "

Henry looked back at the castle only for his jaw to drop, the once invisible barrier was now visible thanks to the ice layer invading it, forming a huge dome all around the castle...
