The Princess And The Demon

Chapter 125 - Crumble

What Nov thought to be a growl of pain was in reality a sign, Eren gave the soldiers the awaited sign they were waiting for to fulfill Henry's last order, for the last few minutes they remained on edge, waiting for the signal while watching the violent battle happening right above their heads, all they could see though was two flashes, one is white and rhe other is dark clashing with each other midair in an unnatural speed where even the demon's eyes failed to follow, the air was heavy and some of the blades occasionally missed it target and fell on one of the unfortunate soldier, the whole situation was intense until they heard the growl they were waiting for...

All at once, not waiting a second more nor leaving one behind, all the soldiers charged toward the shrine, Nov screamed in horror when he saw them hitting the walls with all their might, he tried to free himself from the demon's hold but to no use, Eren's tentacles only got bigger and stronger, now that the God had noticed them, there was no point in hiding them, he planned to swallow this silver haired idiot while the rest of the army break the shrine...

The soldiers attacked the silver walls with everything they had, swords, spears, fists, they hit the invulnerable walls restlessly and without stopping to think for a second, it was now or never even if the walls showed no sign of breaking they kept on hitting it over and over, until the smallest of cracks began to form...

Nov screamed and growled as he tried to free himself from the dark demon, his eyes widened in horror when he noticed the small cracks, once the walls break the creation energy would be spilled and would spread all around the world, once it does there won't be a way to stop it, the curse on the demons would be partially broken, and all his hard work, all his planning and patience over the years would be lost, all his dreams... he was able to taste them not several minutes ago but now they have turned into ash in his mouth...

He had waited so long, Nov thought, for thousands of years, It was great at first, heavenly, Immortality, having his soul mate to spend eternity with, All your wishes coming true, having power beyond belief and nothing to worry about... he doesn't remember the time when the three kinds first appeared, or how did they split, such knowledge was exclusive to the first generation Gods, same as many things...

They were called Gods, second generation Gods, but still they were Gods, one would think them as the mightiest beings with utmost control, but in reality, the second generation Gods were only vessels for what remained of the creation energy, they were nothing but puppets in the hands of the real Gods, the first generation Gods...

Nov had always wondered why were there this specific number of Gods, he didn't understand why there was four of the first generation Gods but he knew why there were twenty of them, of the second generation Gods, it was to create a balance, between their power and number, this way none of them were not close to strong enough to defeat the first Generation Gods nor did they have the large numbers to overpower them, the second generation Gods were peons, they were only there to fill up the spaces, given minor tasks and fooled with luxuries, That only made Nov feel like a pet that had to obey his owner, they were never truly Gods nor would they ever be ones, not unless the First generation Gods were destroyed...

Nov, unlike the calm and loving facade he usually wore, was full of rage and frustration, he hated this life, he hated the fact that he was deceived, promised divinity but all he got a very small insufficient portion of it, his anger grew with years, in this heavenly prison, even when having everything he wished for, it slowly turned too bland and meaningless, even his soul mate, her love became tasteless and unsatisfying, he wanted more, more power, all the power, his greed grew up day by day, every day, he thought and planned how to get what he wanted, he knew he couldn't go directly against the first generation Gods, what happened to Estonilla was the best proof, forcing him into hiding his rebellious thoughts under a peaceful smile, and wait, he waited and waited and nearly lost hope when the unimaginable happened... One of the four Gods left the center, chasing after her reincarnated lover, got her self i.m.p.r.e.g.n.a.t.ed and killed, but not before giving birth to a hybrid child who inherited all of her power, a week, vulnerable, half human child...

Nov knew that this was his chance but he didn't want to risk anything and end up banned or killed, he wasn't as dumb as Estonilla, he knew he had to have patience for his plan to work, and instead of doing the hard work himself, he thought better to let the lowly kinds do it for him...

He was hoping she would get killed and her energy would pool back into the shrine and then into the vessels, but she somehow survived even when he inspired the priests to kill her, when she fell into the clutches of demons he was furious but again suggested to end both races, the idea was discussed and the remaining two first generation Gods left to look for the third one who left right after Historia's death, leaving him alone to do as he pleased, and while everyone was focused on the attack, he killed the second generation Gods, all of them, with their energy he would be able to defeat the three first generation Gods, and be the one and only God..

It was right in his hand but these bastards showed up and now it is slipping, Nov thought, not wasting a second later he cut off his entire arm that was caught by Eren's tentacles, he sped toward the cracking shrine throwing random air blades at the soldiers who fell one after the other, when he was close, very close, Eren's huge body fell on him, pinning him on the ground, Nov didn't look at the demon but at the shrine asit walls started to crumble down...
