The Red Nights

" Undeads ?!! " Lina shouted as she was shocked " How could it be possible? Even the day of the catastrophe wasn't that scary" . They were on the bed when Jamal was relating to her the weird and worrying phenomenon happened in the last patrol.

" I had the same reaction as you , they were really hard to defeat. In fact, their fighting skills alone were not so impressive, I could easily take them down... however it was the fact that they couldn't die which was problematic. As I kept killing them quickly they were still standing up and coming even faster and stronger than before . "

Lina imagined the scene as Jamal detailed to her [ it could have been very awful if both Jamal and Natasha hadn't been able to stop them] [ I cannot even imagine what would have been happened if those monsters achieved to spread in the town ] she thought. " And how did you manage to kill them definitively? It seemed impossible according to what you've said. " She asked after thinking for a while.

Since he left the hospital , Jamal decided to tell Lina all the truth, however he couldn't know whether it was good to tell her about Natasha's abilities , so when he was about to left her house that night he took her in a side and asked for her opinion. " Since it's all about you , it would be better if it's you the one to decide " . She didn't even think for too long, instead she immediately answered " Yes it's okay, you should tell her " .

Jamal was a bit shocked and confused " ... should I? You really don't mind ? I mean you are always fighting and arguing at each other, I thought that maybe... "

" Maybe we hate each other? " Natasha laughed " that is what everyone thinks looking at us " .

That ended to make him even more confused " it is not the case? "

" Of course not " Natasha laughed louder " She is keeping saying to everyone that I don't like her even though she knows that it is the opposite. We love each other like sisters do , I can't deny that there are some moments I really hate her but it's totally normal for sisters " . As Jamal looked very lost she smiled happily and added " Don't worry there is not a single problem if you tell her, I fully trust her and I even don't know why didn't I do it earlier ".

" ... hum ... OK if you don't mind " . Thus Jamal was resolute to tell her every thing and he did so . Lina took a moment to assimilate all what he said with a low voice " Oh that's it , Nat' turned to a superwoman who fights zombies with a Japanese sword not a malicious woman who wanted to steal my man " .

" Said like that, it looks like a Hollywood movie " Jamal sighed " Can't you at least take it seriously? " .

Lina stood and lay down on his c.h.e.s.t " What do you want me to say, as you keep talking things are becoming more and more weird and confusing " she paused " what I can only think is about the poor Matteo who came just lately and had already so much weights on his shoulders " she continued with a low voice " and I somehow feel relief that for all this long time I have been thinking you cheated me with Natasha you were just helping her to control her power. Have you a little idea of about how much I was worried that you could leave me for her ? "

" Mmm Really? But you look so proud before us when we're together, who could have been imagined that you are such a jealous woman " Jamal said to tease her as she rarely expressed herself so honestly. " But more seriously , what do you think about the mission of tomorrow? "

" I think despite being very dangerous it might be a great idea , I agree with Nat' when she said that we don't know how they will react however we can't just keep lacking information while problems keep coming to us " she looked at him " You have... no we have to take this risk. For my part I will try to know from the other cities' chiefs whether similar phenomenons happened to them, if not I would have to convince them to stop killing the criminals ".

As they didn't know yet the real extent of the situation, she thought they should at least avoid taking any useless risk . However the biggest challenge would be to convince them not killing the criminals without telling to them the real reason behind that decision, Lina was convinced that it would put them in the panic if it didn't happen yet [ No I should just close my mouth about this problem ] . Since it's already hard for them to reduce the amount of criminals by killing them , how would they protect themselves if she achieved to convince them to not kill people, it was looking like a desperate situation [ anyway it's my part of the mission to convince them and avoid them to be hurt more, I have to find an idea , just keep in mind that it will not be a deal of one day it must take long time before I finish to convince them] she thought.

She sighed as she was thinking about the current situation " it's exhausting, how long do we have to fight before we obtain the peace " . Jamal laughed loudly "

It looks like me when I'm complaining ". He asked after he recalled something " why didn't you tell me that you and Natasha are almost like sisters?" . Lina smiled, lifted her head and put a kiss on his lips " Good night and good luck for tomorrow , honey. " , she lay again her head and fell asleep followed by Jamal who was a bit disappointed.

At the usual time when he reached the point of rendezvous, Jamal found that Natasha and Matteo were already there waiting for him , which made happy " Why are you here so early? " he asked . Natasha who , was wearing her usual sport outfit , jumped off from the spot she was sitting to come salute him " Hi , in fact Matteo was too stressed and scared to sleep, I spent all the night trying to calm him down , I thought it might be a good idea if we come early ".

Jamal turned to Matteo " Are you okay now? If it's too much for you, you still can return back to home waiting for us to finish the job and we will call you later ". Though he said that, Jamal was hoping that he would be more courageous for a boy of almost 14 years. " Boldness is a natural thing that all boys should have " his sister kept saying to him " listen, for wishing be a great man you must be brave ".

" No need I'm alright, Natasha was exaggerating, I just had some sleep trouble and I woke up early " Matteo replied a bit embarrassed.

Jamal stared at him " good if you say there is no problem " . He understood why he was feeling so uneasy as they were badly lacking informations about how much there would be, how they would react, whether Matteo would achieve to obtain answers to their questions or not... in brief they didn't have any plan neither a guarantee that they would succeed. However Jamal also knew that they would never achieve if they went through the danger without any resolution to win .

" Well , you will wait for us at the entrance of the factory, Natasha and I will go after the evil guys, it would take one to two hours " He added with a smile " two hours because Natasha is a bit too slow ". Matteo smiled " It's because she prefers taking her time to enjoy while she is torturing her opponents " . They both started to laugh while Natasha was pushing Jamal by his shoulder and shouting that she was the fastest between them.

While Natasha and Jamal went to take the motorbikes as they left them nearby after the last patrol and head for the barrier, Matteo walked to the factory. There was a place Jamal indicated to him where he could hide himself until the end of the patrol.

They proceeded with the same strategy as before, at the barrier they took opposite directions, walked along it to make the usual work and 30 minutes later they met up at the control post. Natasha reported three infraction cases with only one broken device, for his part Jamal found two infraction cases and zero broken device. They checked for the identities of the guys reported through the security cameras , they found out that they were all men .

" Ha five, it's more than I expected I hope everything will be alright ". Natasha sighed

" It will be fine , we just have to fight them one by one , like it will be safer and faster " Jamal said.

Few minutes after, the alarm rang and a spot appeared on one of the computers to indicate where it came from. Jamal looked at the screen and noticed that it came from the new citizens' sector, Natasha checked into another screen looking for the number of villains " only two " she said " I'm off , I already memorized the place " without waiting for any agreement or protestation she left the factory, her knife in a little sheath on her right leg.

The second alarm came few seconds after , when he looked at the screen to confirm the number and he found out that there were only two," I hate when it comes like that " , in fact such cases often happened in the past , at that moment he would have to carry with him a wearable little device which would indicate the location of the last target . However the problem was that network was very bad and the position given was never enough clear, so he would have to roll around for a while before he found his target.

He took so the little device a little bothered and left the factory to jump on his bike. He rolled at his maximum speed through the streets , he arrived at the foot of a little building where the entrance was broken. He went in , reached the security post , looked at the screens to check through the surveillance cameras where were the villains, [ the third level, they are still in the elevator didn't reach it yet , seems like the alarm was given quickly] he observed.

[ if I want to take the elevator like they did, I might be noticed or all simply being there too late and for the stairs it's the same . The doors here are not enough robust, if they panic or force too much they can eventually break through and rush into a random home what might be problematic ] as he was thinking the two guys were still trying to force into someone's apartment , he had to hurry to come out with a plan, he saw a window at the end of the hallway. [ it's a stupid idea but I don't have choice if I want to come at time ] he said to himself while he was heading out of the building.

He quickly reached the east side of the building and without thinking any more, he started climbing along the building and less than 15 seconds later, he reached the window at the third floor. With a blow of his head he broke it down the glass and with a roulade he penetrated within the hallway. As they were stunned by what just happened, they couldn't react quickly, Jamal took the opportunity to make a sprint toward them . He flattened the both of them on the ground and with two blow fists in their nose he put them K.O .

He put them on a little wagon he picked from one's garden, and got on the motorbike. He was looking for his third target by rolling through the streets and checking time to time the location device while he turned at a corner and saw Natasha with three bodies at her feet.

" A real scary warrior" Jamal sighed "what's happened ? The third one must have been my prey "

She lifted up two of her " victims " and put them on Jamal's little wagon and tied the last one on the back of her bike " I found him while I was chasing the other two along the streets . It was very funny, I should do it more often "

She related him that her targets were localized in front of a house where 3 young women lived, she saw them as they were trying to enter in and rolled towards them. When they got scared and ran away , Natasha decided to slow a bit in order to exhaust them . The chase lasted about one hour before they met another villain-- the third Jamal's prey , she decided to finish them at once and then accelerated, jumped off from the bike and just threw it over them . As they were completely flattened on the ground , she put out the motorbike and leaned on the wall thinking about a way to carry them when Jamal came.

" You're a very scary woman . Matteo was right when he said that you love torture your opponents " Jamal said with a large smile. Natasha laughed slightly " it was not that awful ".

Thus, they went for the factory . There they met up Matteo in the exact place where Jamal adviced him to hide himself. After they put all the unconscious guys in. Jamal told Matteo to wait for them out of the factory and told him to never intend to enter before they finished to catch one undead. He nodded and went out while Jamal and Natasha were preparing the villains by tying them down with heavy chains.
