The Restless Spirit's Father

Chapter 70 - A Cat to Feed

Meanwhile at Li Heilong's office...

The CEO was finishing up with the reports given to him by his assistants. Even if he had found the car that ran over his son, he still had no names for the ones who cornered him first. Actually, even the driver was missing.

His mood was very awful.

Then again, the secretary asked him if he was willing to speak with someone from the media. It was about Li Feng's case. Since Ruan Jin and Li Yunru weren't capable of a black-out, the media still heard of it.

Moreover, this son of his was heavily involved in that Ting Cult running story. Everyone was so interested in him.

He just needed to give the reporter something to quote. Even if his head was hurting, he let the secretary walk the person to his office.

What he didn't expect to see was a very stunning woman who had glasses and a beauty mark under her left eye. Her hair was in a very wavy state, and her first two buttons gave the people a good tease of her c.h.e.s.t. Not to mention that she was also tall enough to be a model.

"It's a p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to meet you, Mr. Li. I'm Qiao Yun from Blue Times. Thank you for having us." She smiled professionally at Li Heilong who had been staring at her ever since she walked inside his room.

Before long, she watched him get to his feet and lock the door of his office. He even took out a remote from his pocket and pressed a button on it. Something embedded in the walls seemed to have buzzed from the faces.

"Please have a seat." Li Heilong didn't sit back at his chair; he stopped at the resting couches in his office and gestured to one of them. With such a commanding tone in his monotone voice, the woman found no reason not to sit down. The CEO also sat down opposite of her.

"I would take out my recording pen, but it seemed that you activated a frequency machine that would ruin my recording." Qiao Yun chuckled as she pulled out a metal pen-looking device tucked in her lapel.

Li Heilong's eyes only followed her movement before staring at her face. The woman kept her professional smile that seemed to be growing more and more dazzling by the second.

"Let's proceed with the interview, shall we, Mr. Li?" Qiao Yun only pulled out her phone from her small purse and opened a doc.u.ment. "I heard that your son is confined in the hospital right now. From the words of the doctors, he seemed to be very hurt.

"Is there a chance that you'd be putting up rewards for anyone who have leads on the culprit?"

"Why? Are you interested?" The face that didn't seem to know how to smile suddenly had its lips curling in a smirk. Li Heilong then leaned against the couch, giving the reporter a once-over. If anything, he did so in a very ridiculing way.

The woman kept quiet for a while before speaking again. "If it's more than my monthly pay and I have leads, why not, Mr. Li? It's always a good thing to help a grieving father."

Li Heilong only chuckled in response. "Are we really going to talk about my son? Aren't you here for something else?"

Qiao Yun only smiled deeper before leaning at the side, showing off the shape that could catch the eyes of many. "Why, Mr. Li? Are you interested?"

"Don't disgust me. I know a woman when I see one. Who are you?" Li Heilong finally snorted. "What do you want?"

"Congratulations, Mr. Li. Ten years in service, and only you didn't fall for this disguise." Qiao Yun finally laughed out, his male voice echoing.

It looked so awful to Li Heilong, but at least the woman's seductive smile was now a smug grin. "Though I have to correct you. You have maligned me. I really am asking about your son's welfare... of course, about those who hurt him as well."

"I have no leads. Try seducing the chief of police next time." Li Heilong only closed his eyes. Maybe, if he just listened, the ugly picture would go away.

"Why are you chasing me out so early, Mr. Li?" Qiao Yun reached out for the wine on the center table. Since there were glasses ready to be used, he just helped himself with it.

He poured himself a glass of wine and took a sip, easily identifying the wine like a professional connoisseur. However, he didn't come here for this. "Mr. Li, what are you planning to do to them when you find them?"

Li Heilong didn't open his eyes. It was better this way. "It's none of your business."

The disguising reporter swirled the wine in the cup. "Are you pressing charges, or will you be gathering them in a warehouse to be slaughtered?"

The CEO then tore his eyes open. "Is that your plan? Make a big deal out of this so I couldn't simply get rid of them on my own? Are you from the police?" He then twitched as the man stared right into his eyes. "...you're from Wangguan..."

A smile curled Qiao Yun's lips again. "I like how fast you figure things out, Mr. Li. So, can we talk about your terms?"

"What terms?"

"Terms of surrender. You have to give them to us; we will appreciate it greatly." The reporter sipped from the wine glass again, his eyes digging into Li Heilong's will. Like a cat fooling a fish to jump right into its mouth, Qiao Yun kept on pressuring the father.

However, Li Heilong wasn't like others. He knew things that normal people wouldn't. The CEO then stared at the man longer before shaking his head. "I need to know why you need me to put them there. As long as I'm satisfied with the results, I'll let you have them."

The man then chuckled, feeling that he was winning the bargain. "I won't hide it from you, Mr. Li. We have a cat in the prison, and we need to feed him for a couple of reasons. As for these reasons, I'm pretty sure you'd know as soon as you check with Cherry."

A chill ran up Li Heilong's spine when he heard that name. Cherry... right. Even if he had power over Cherry, he couldn't deny that strange things would happen.

If this was something else, he would have gladly thrown those thugs to Wangguan to be seasoned first before pushing them to Cherry. Then again, this cat...

When he was thinking, he reached out for a glass. Qiao Yun even poured him some wine before Li Heilong brought the glass to his lips. It's just that... when he did, his hand trembled, spilling some wine on himself. He then quickly brought the glass down... but he didn't clean himself right away.

"What are you planning to do to Liu Xiaodan?" His eyes then glared so fiercely at the reporter in disguise.

"Aiya, you even figured that part out? Your son must be telling you everything." Qiao Yun raised his brows. "Don't worry, it's nothing harmful to him. He's rather very important so we're proceeding very slowly. Though I can't guarantee if he'd like it if you came in between him and those thugs...

"He seemed to owe Li Feng a lot... so much that he was really angry when he heard what happened."

Li Heilong then remembered that scene in the conference room. Also, Li Yunru claimed that Guangru was going to look for these thugs. If Liu Xiaodan asked the demon for help, then it would be very plausible why the child had stepped in. However, there was something that wouldn't sit well with him.

The man then hummed as he took another sip of the wine. "No need to worry about the Mian family. As things were, they have no chance of separating the entity from Liu Xiaodan. The boy had complete control over a killing machine, and it's easy to believe that he could kill again just to keep the demon next to him."

"You... who are you?" Li Heilong grew restless. This man seemed to know a lot about Liu Xiaodan's s.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e case. If he was truly someone from Wangguan, they would be dying to kick him out of their prison. However, they were even willing to feed him live humans? What do they want?

Wait... did he say 'the boy had complete control over a killing machine'? The boy... was it Liu Xiaodan or the entity?

"No need to bother about who I am, Mr. Li. What I need you to think about is whether you'd surrender the thugs to us or not." The reporter smiled again as he liked the look in Li Heilong's face. "We won't hurt Liu Xiaodan... rather, we can't. He's too terrifying..."

"Then, you're raising something you won't be able to handle in the future. Leave him be." Li Heilong only closed his eyes and massaged his temple. "I won't hand over the thugs to you if you're not willing to contain him."

The smile on the man's face fell as he stared at the CEO. Soon, a wry smile took its place. "I really look forward to working with Mr. Li in the future, but that vision seemed so bleak at the moment." The disguised reporter got up from his seat. "Then, let's just play a game, Mr. Li.

"It's a race against time. Who gets to catch them all first, I wonder? Good day, Mr. Li."

"Wait." Qiao Yun heard Li Heilong's voice echo, and he turned to take a look at him. What he didn't expect to see was a nozzle of a gun was directly pointed at him. He stared at its glaring maw and at the finger at its trigger.

Bang!

Qiao Yun felt his entire body jolted. However, there was no pain anywhere but his thumping heart. He then looked at Li Heilong who took back his gun. Qiao Yun wanted to speak, but Li Heilong beat him to it.

"I don't know why you're working hard for this, Mr. Qiao. However, if you tried to do anything inappropriate to Liu Xiaodan, the next time you meet this gun; the bullet won't be a blank."

"I'll keep that in mind, Mr. Li." Qiao Yun chuckled as he sauntered to the door. He touched the knob and turned around before he opened the door. "Mr. Li, I do like you, but the next time you and I meet...

"Don't expect me to be unarmed."
