The Restless Spirit's Father

Chapter 80 - Guangru will Follow

After dealing with the professionals last night, Liu Guangru felt the surge in power coming from his Baba. The fact that he managed to force himself into a hollow manifestation just to save Wu Qianqian worried the child.

Right, Guangru was worried.

His Baba only had the power for a short while, and yet he was using it more than Guangru even would. From healing Li Feng to outright consuming another non-human entity, he had hastily moved from depending on Guangru's power to wielding his own to its limits. If someone told Guangru that he would find a human who was capable of developing his own miasma just from the old wood's infection, the child would kill them off.

Even if he was just a child wanting to be born, this old entity had his own pride. He didn't want anyone imposing on him and his actions. However, the way Liu Xiaodan made him feel like he was family alleviated all of Guangru's restrictions. More likely that day when he asked Guangru to give him power to kill.

A servant that was what they were normally called. Sometimes, they would be hosts to demonic entities and would kill by the will of the entity inside of them. Normally, they would be so against this and would beg and cry. Liu Xiaodan was different; he actively sought power to take away the pain from his friends.

Moreover, even if he had done what he needed, he didn't wallow in pity and curse his luck. He continued existing and even exploring the power that he had gotten.

Without Guangru's guidance, Liu Xiaodan might run into trouble.

"But Baba will be sad…" Guangru whispered into the dark night. He needed to help Li Feng, or else his father would be feeling bad. When that sergeant spoke to him, Guangru felt the surge of fury coming from Liu Xiaodan… and it was akin to what he felt before. When they killed his prospect parents, he was also angered to the core.

That was why he couldn't leave Li Feng alone.

However, just this morning, Tang Mingming tried possessing Liu Xiaodan in his sleep. It triggered Guangru to channel his consciousness into Liu Xiaodan and fend off the pretty boy. To his surprise, Tang Mingming only tried to call his attention because something else was eyeing Liu Xiaodan in that sick hall. When he tried to speak with Liu Xiaodan, the 'doctors' arrived.

Now that he lost Liu Xiaodan in his radar, Guangru needed guidance in finding his father and those two misfits next to him.

When Fu Xing fainted, Huo Taiyang quickly reached out to grab his sleeve. He didn't want Fu Xing to fall and hit his head somewhere. Pei Bieli was about to act as well, but Huo Taiyang dove out of the way of his vision. He clearly saw that a black-haired child was frowning at the man who just fainted…

And one he decided to join.

"What shit?!" Huo Taiyang was barely holding onto to Fu Xing. Now, he had to stretch his arm to catch Pei Bieli by the shirt. "Help!"

Since it was lunch, a lot of people were in the canteen. When Huo Taiyang yelled for help, the wardens on break quickly got to their feet to help. Some of them had a glimpse of a child peering from the edge of the table, but he faded out like they had seen wrongly. In the end, they were sent to the sick hall for recovery.

Huo Taiyang's back was drenched in sweat as he continually glanced to the side. He could see Guangru peeking from behind the machines as if interested in what they were doing. The nurse in front of Huo Taiyang was checking on the two men and sighed; when she saw the old librarian, she even twisted her pouty lips.

"Librarian Huo, do you need to get checked up, too? You're so pale. You might end up passing out like these two."

"Erm, are they well?"

"Yes, they just passed out." She then took a look at where Huo Taiyang was glancing. "Librarian Huo, do you see her? They said a nurse always watched over patients in this hall. Is she standing there?"

At this comment and her sarcastic tone, Huo Taiyang was dragged to earth. He then felt offended. The pretty child would even call him respectfully with 'Uncle' and this nurse was making a fool out of him? Perhaps Guangru and that seemingly autistic Boss Liu were better company than this nurse.

He just sighed and waved his hand. "It doesn't matter. There's no ghost nurse here, only a child. Anyway, does the name Liu Xiaodan ring a bell to you?"

The nurse twitched for two reasons. He said 'a child' and then 'Liu Xiaodan'. The nurse then stared at Huo Taiyang for a while before walking out of the room. She was followed by Huo Taiyang as he demanded answers from her.

"Liu Xiaodan should be staying here in the sick hall. He collapsed last night, and he…" When she opened the door, the bed was vacant. The basin was also filled with blood, and smudges of an injury were on the sheets. "Oh, shoot." She quickly pressed on the intercom near the door and called in security.

"Inmate on the run! I repeat, inmate on the run!" She called out, but she wasn't getting a response from the intercom. She pulled back and babbled to herself. The nurse turned to the man standing outside, taking a few looks at the vacant room.

Behind him was a black-haired child staring right at her.

She had heard rumors from the inmates that Liu Xiaodan acted very strange and would be reading at night. There would also be sounds of a giggling child around him from time to time. Those who were in the library would catch glimpses of Guangru as well.

It would sound like he's a lunatic… but she was his attending nurse in court.

She heard about the ghost child that was an accessory to Liu Xiaodan's crimes. She had seen his photo and rough sketches…

"I don't know where he is! He should be here!" The nurse couldn't help but be hysterical. She started shouting and backing off, finally toppling into the bed.

"Miss Nurse, calm down—" Huo Taiyang tried to stop her from screaming like a slaughtered pig, but he spotted a shadow crawling on the walls from the corner of his eye. When he turned from where they came from, he saw a silhouette of a person sliding across the wall like it dwelled there.

The door behind him closed, and Huo Taiyang backed against the closed door. The shadow lingered on the walls until he swiped across Huo Taiyang's very own shadow… and vanished.

Guangru only looked at the librarian's shadow. "Big Brother, can you tell where he is? Hm? Okay, Guangru will follow."

When he said follow, Huo Taiyang thought the child would leave him alone for the day. However, he didn't think his body would move on its own like he had no control over it. The man walked to Guangru and carried the cold-bodied, chrysanthemum-smelling child into his arms. He then proceeded to a direction.

"Big Brother, why do we have to take Uncle?" Guangru didn't understand why Yi Junhai ended up possessing the poor man before taking him. Then, he heard it in the slightest, softest voice his ears could pick up. "Oh, you're tired after leaving Ming's body?"

Tang Mingming and Yi Junhai were so close that even after death, they were still bound together. However, unlike Tang Mingming who developed a strong ghost form, Yi Junhai could barely exist as his surviving soul was so fragile. He needed to possess a host that could serve as his battery. Tang Mingming was strong enough to let him feed off of him.

Now that his other half was also not around, he could only make do with what he saw.

To be honest, halfway the conversation, Huo Taiyang had already passed out. Yi Junhai needed full control so he asked Guangru to knock the poor uncle out. As Guangru could easily such a thing, he just went with it.

Since Tang Mingming was terrified of Guangru, Yi Junhai learned not to be scared of him so he could rescue his Ming and be his shield. Moreover, he understood Guangru's intentions as he imposed a grave pressure on everyone else in the prison. Liu Xiaodan was raking in the ire of humans; if ghosts joined in, then the father might be in trouble.

Together, they found the staircase and climbed to the sealed-off top floor.

A limousine arrived at the hospital, and the staff knew that another big-shot might be coming to get something from them. Mian Tianyu walked out… along with Li Heilong and Mian Bingbing. He seemed to be heartily conversing with Li Heilong who only seemed to be tolerating the small talk. They then walked to the reception to be walked by a nurse to the head doctor's office.

After what happened last night, Mian Tianyu hoped to have Li Feng stay in the Mian Temple. They would need to cleanse him, and they would have to make sure he wouldn't be tainted by Liu Guangru. The harsh kind of purification might be called for again, but Li Feng just had an accident. Moreover, Li Heilong didn't approve of it.

It was just that when the doctor walked them to Li Feng's room, he wasn't there. Li Yunru was sleeping on the couch, seemingly unaware that Li Feng had vanished. Li Heilong frowned while Mian Tianyu stroked at his beard.

"Another kind of vile creature had gone here. I can feel her dirtiness all over the walls." He then looked at Mian Bingbing. "Bingbing, tell me, has your son experienced more things in this ward?"

"I can't tell. He normally wouldn't say." Mian Bingbing went to wake up Li Yunru instead.

Li Heilong peered down from the window and saw the meadow on the other side of the hospital. He blinked once as he stared at Li Feng who was being walked by some guy he could have seen before. Even if he couldn't put a name on that face, that wasn't the strangest thing he saw.

It was that woman seemingly walking next to them, but she had no legs to walk with.

"Is she a ghost?"
