"Do you know? She just got released from a psychiatric ward again."

"Oh? So that's why her son had to live with that whore..."

"Yeah, I feel so bad about Xiao Yun. Who knows how much of her crazy can be passed onto him…?"

Even since Yun He was young, he had always been receiving pity from everyone who knew of his mother. His father was a drunkard who got killed in an accident while his mother was dubbed to be suffering from schizophrenia. However, he knew that his mother was not sick in the head.

His gentle mother had always talked to him about the voices. He had no idea what they were at first, but it was getting worse and worse. She was getting sent to a psychiatric ward because of her violent tendencies against her relatives.

In the end, she was shot dead during one of her rage attacks.

Yun He was then stuck living with the same relatives that his mother was hostile toward. However, Yun He's fear intensified when he found out that those relatives were actually trying to sell the eight-year-old him… just like what his mother had long spoken of.

That was why Yun He did his best to get into med school and help those who were being dubbed deranged because of these spirits. In his heart, his mother was never wrong…

There were indeed voices in the wind.

However, right now, he had no idea what to do. Yun He stared at the child and felt his heart race in terror. He thought that he would never be afraid of these things that disturb the innocent, but the mere second that it sunk in made Yun He escape immediately.

Bang! The chair he was sitting on crashed to the floor, and Yun He had run off from the food and leisure hall. Liu Xiaodan only held on to the table to keep it from toppling his food.

Guangru tilted his head to the side and looked up at his father. "Baba, why did he run away?"

"You startled him." Liu Xiaodan sighed, but it wasn't because he found Yun He untrue to his words. It was because Guangru jumped out of nowhere again just because someone said they're not scared. That's like hearing about someone not scared of insects and then throwing a c.o.c.kroach at their face.

They would run because they were startled; that was different from fear.

Guangru only leaned his head and arms at the table while Liu Xiaodan continued to eat. He could feel the gaze of the other nurses at him. Perhaps no one had made Nurse Yun run for his life like that before.

It was already ten in the morning when Li Feng woke up. Unlike the few days, he would now wake up to a familiar ceiling. He then moved his head and saw Li Yunru sleeping next to him.

He picked the stray strands on her forehead to clear her fringe, making her scrunch her face from the touch. However, she wouldn't wake up from it. He only chuckled before getting up from the bed.

Feeling his feet again was the strangest feeling that he had ever had. Just days ago, he couldn't walk because his legs were broken beyond repair and were facing amputation. Then, Guangru's miasma healed part of the damage done, followed by Li Feng dying.

When he woke up, he felt like he had been reborn.

Li Feng left the bed and walked out of the bedroom, leaving Li Yunru to have the bed for herself. He then arrived in the main lounge where Mian Bingbing was. He walked up to her upon catching her snacking on donuts and coffee.

"Mommy..." Li Feng sat down next to her, and she was startled that he was there. More when he took a donut. She then chuckled. "Good morning, Feng'er. How was your sleep? I sent Yunru to wake you up, but that was two hours ago."

"You did? No wonder she was sleeping next to me."

Li Feng only laughed as he started to eat. He then caught her mother calling on a maid to make more food for Li Feng. When she turned to him again, Li Feng spoke with a bitter smile on his face. "I must have brought you and Daddy a lot of trouble. I'm sorry."

"I'm your Mommy; you're supposed to give me trouble. Else, I'll think you have no use of me." Mian Bingbing hummed as she stroked at his head. "It doesn't matter now. What you need to do now is to plan how to continue from here.

"You might have been kicked out of Ting, but I can send you overseas if you want to study again. I am planning to check up on the businesses in Country G after all."

Li Feng looked in his mother's direction. The Mian family didn't have businesses in Country G, but the Li family did. Did his parents manage to make up while he was asleep? Hope was on his lips as he smiled a little. "Mommy, are those the ones Daddy have?"

Mian Bingbing frowned. "No, they're mine. He might have funded those, but those are mine."

"Ah… I see." Li Feng then sighed. "Mommy, can I ask you something? I know I shouldn't be meddling with your issues, but… are you really planning to divorce Daddy? Don't you want to reconsider?"

"...the divorce papers are already sent. We're just waiting for it to become null and invalid." Mian Bingbing raked her hand through her hair as if using the action to turn away from Li Feng. "He never wanted to sign those papers, and he would park his car outside in the morning.

"He actually stopped doing that these days because you got into an accident. Now that you're well again, he was here again earlier..."

Li Feng frowned. "Can't we just… come home? There's really no one there anymore."

Mian Bingbing bit her lip and turned away again. "Feng'er, you spent a night there already, right?"

"Yes, I had."

"Didn't it feel strange to you?"

Li Feng frowned and just shook his head after a sigh. "It does. It's our house, and yet I feel like I'm a guest. It's because my dad was there, but my mom was not. I was even being timed when I stayed." He tried to revive the smile on his face. "Come on, Mommy. It's okay. Let's go home now."

However, Mian Bingbing didn't answer.

'There must be something very wrong with the house...' Li Feng frowned, but he only sighed. He got up from the couch and bid his mother goodbye as he left.

Mian Bingbing only gripped the couch tightly, her eyes somewhat watering in loss and frustration. "I can't keep on running away from it… but I'm scared. If Heilong finds out, I'm as good as dead..."

Ding! The service elevator opened, and a man rolled out a wheelchair backward before slowly making it face the front. He then continued walking, and two other men accompanied them. The glass door automatically opened, and a woman was waiting at her family car in the parking lot.

Ren Shanyue smiled at the three men and at the woman in the wheelchair. "How does it feel getting under the sun again, Nayi?"

Chuan Nayi rubbed her arms, her body making the transition from being in a cold hospital to going outside under the sun. It might not be as comfortable, but at least she's out.

She then looked up at this woman who seemed to be so used to looking down at people or on people, no matter. She only knew her as Ah Yue, one of Li Feng's friends. However, wasn't this Ah Yue doing so much for someone who wasn't really related to Li Feng?

"Ruan Jin told me you'll give me a ride to my house?" Chuan Nayi asked, ignoring her greeting.

"Yes, I wish to meet with Ms. Jiang after all. There's a lot of possibilities that I want to discuss with her." Ren Shanyue chuckled, not even hiding an ulterior motive for fetching Chuan Nayi.

With that, Chuan Nayi realized why she was being friendly. This Ah Yue was after Breakthrough.

"Oh, then I thank you in advance." Chuan Nayi smiled back, but it was only for show. There was something about this Ah Yue that she didn't like. What she didn't know was why Ruan Jin and the others were willing to help her.

Were they paid? Were they enchanted by her looks and money?

After the driver carried Chuan Nayi to a seat and waited for the three males to get on, the family car drove off to the Jiang residence. Chuan Nayi then looked outside, seeing everything seemed to be the same as before. However, one big part of her was gone.

Whether it was indeed love or just something not strong enough, she had lost Liu Xiaodan forever.

Ruan Jin only watched Chuan Nayi from their seat. This was his best friend's almost-girlfriend… and probably someone that the guy would still die for. Since Liu Xiaodan was not here with her, would it be too much for him to keep her safe as well?

He then eyed Ren Shanyue. She said that Cherry Medical was under a family that worked under the Qiao family. If Qiao Shan managed to keep everyone out of the place, it would be hard to know what was happening to Liu Xiaodan.

It was why they needed to strike a deal with Breakthrough, a renowned creator website, and make use of it to start a study in Cherry Medical. If it could stretch for months, the better. They would be able to keep an eye on Liu Xiaodan this way.

What made Ruan Jin suspicious was Ren Shanyue's need to impress Liu Xiaodan. It was as if she wanted him for herself instead of just doing the moral good of freeing him from the hold of the Qiao family. They were technically not needed if that was her true goal.

Right now, he still didn't know their role in her plans.

Shortly, they arrived at the house. Chuan Nayi was rolled in by Ren Shanyue, and they were well-received by Jiang Yanyu. The mother chuckled nervously. "Thank you very much for taking my daughter home when I can't."

"It's nothing really, Ms. Jiang. Though… I was wondering if we can talk." Ren Shanyue wore a full smile as they took Chuan Nayi to the lounge in her wheelchair.

"Ah, I don't think it's a good time." Bethany Jiang's smile wriggled. However, a man's voice sounded from the lounge. "No please, I don't mind."

Ren Shanyue twitched and left the wheelchair to confirm her suspicion. She only paused in her spot from where she could see who Jiang Yanyu's guest was. Jiang Yanyu rolled her daughter in, and the three men followed them… only to freeze as well.

"Mr. Li, what a surprise."
