1 hour later…..

"Urg, what happened?"

"Whoaaaa, slowly now Mei Yin. You fainted and almost hurt yourself, luckily I manage to catch you on time."

Looking at her surroundings, Mei Yin see that she is back into the same room that she wanted to escape from. And the same man who she try to get away from not that long ago, sitting up on the bed using her hands as support. A wet towel fell down from her forehead which she has failed to feel its presence all this time.

"T..Thank you."

"What?"

It was an unbelievable moment for Zhao Yun because the girl who has hated his smiles, called him a pervert, and try to kill him for the sake of escaping for no reason actually say thank you!

"I said thank you….for everything. I fainted but instead of taking advantage of my time of weakness, you actually continue to take care of me. I misunderstood you all this time…I'm sorry Zhao Yun."

"I never took it seriously anyways, so don't worry about it. What important right now is your situation, I'm going to need the full story from you so it would be easier to prepare for the worse."

Nodding her head, Mei Yin started from the beginning when her father have come to visit her in the dead of night with the captain and garrison commander along with eighty elite guards saying that he needed to talk with her. In the end, not much was said as she was pulled away by some of the elite guards with a heavy responsibility while seeing shadows surrounding her father.

But she was talking slowly so that no detail are to be miss but the more she talked. The more pain she felt because not only her father have died in the hands of those so called shadow demons from what Zhao Yun said.

And Ning Xa who is her loyal friend also sacrifice herself as a double and die so she can live, many have given up their life to secure hers but she almost tarnished their efforts. When she was caught in an ambush right when she reach the horse exactly where the elite guards has said.

An arrow flew out of the bushes caught her off-guard but before it can hit her vitals, the young Mei Yin pushed her flexibility to the limit and use her right leg as a shield. Leaving no time to waste, she immediately jump onto the horse and speed off into the distance along the river.

To her horror, a whistle sound of air breaking coming from behind her. Turning to look, Mei Yin see yet another arrow flying towards her left shoulder where her heart is at top speed! Gritting her teeth the young lady could only pull the reign of her horse hard to the right close to the river as to prevent the arrow from hitting her heart and in the process killing her instantly.

The arrow reach her in a matter of seconds hitting her left shoulder and a mere two inches away from the heart.

The shock of pain coursing through her body was too much to b.a.r.e as Mei Yin plummeted into the river and was carried away by the strong currents.

"Hmmm, so that's how it is and that is why you were so injured when I have found you. But based on your story then I actually have a good news for you and also a bad one."

Mei Yin eyes lit up instantly from Zhao Yun words. Did she actually miss out on some crucial information? Even though she is the one who experience it?

"What is it Zhao Yun?"

"Well….from what I know the elite guards captain and that garrison commander might actually still be alive and base on their relationship. They would never abandon your father to die and even if there are no special relationship between them, it still a dishonorable thing to leave your lord to his fate just for a chance of survival."

"You are right! Since you said that they only found my double body and my father body but they never mentioned the captain and garrison commander. If they are not dead then that body of my father the soldiers found might be fake as well!"

"I hate to kill your mood but here comes the bad news."

After the bad news was mentioned, the atmosphere instantly drop back down to gloomy once again as Mei Yin brace herself for the worse and curse herself for getting carried away.

"There is still the possibility that the body of your father is real and that a conspiracy was going on behind the scene. Your father might have been betrayed by one of the two people he trust most or both of them colluded together to kill your father."

"That don't make since, why would they do that? My father save them from poverty and treated them like family all these years."

"Sigh, human nature is really unpredictable no matter how much you think you know a person. That same person could still kill you the next day just to satisfy their own d.e.s.i.r.es for many different reasons. Although I said that it is dishonorable to leave your lord to save your own skin but that don't mean it haven't happened. However, all of this is just a theory until we find the captain and garrison commander then get the answers from them if they are really alive that is."

"We? You mean…."

"Yup! I'm coming with you because for some reason since the moment I saw you. I have a feeling that I should follow you and protect you. So I have decided to help you with this!"

Zhao Yun this time have given Mei Yin his biggest smile in a way of showing his sincerity which no longer bothers her as she smile back at him. Knowing her present predicament, having someone like Zhao Yun around isn't a bad thing.

"You sure are an interesting person brother Zhao Yun. Thank you…."
