The Ruthless Dragon God

A month had passed since the incident of the fight in the dining hall. Though the matter has settled and no one was talking about it, everyone knew that it was the silence before the storm. A storm was brewing and one of the powers of the orphanage was definitely going to be implicated.

It was all dependent on the awakening ceremony at school and Rex's ability whether he could awaken a beast or not. If he awakened a beast, he was definitely taking revenge for the misconduct.

But if he fails, who knows what the other gangs would do. Take his things away and beat him up were one of the basic things they could do to Rex.

On the morning of the ceremony, Rex woke up quite early and carried on with his basic duties. He was nervous and was in deep thought. Rest of orphanage woke a little later, they knew it was going to be a big day today.

He completed his morning routine and wore clean clothes and set out for the academy. But before he could put some between him and church he heard a shout calling his name. He turned around to see Father Wilfred standing at the gate calling him, gesturing him to come back.

Rex walked back to the church, Father led him in front of the deity and offered the prayers to the deity. Father then spoke, "Rex today is a very important day in your life. Today you are going to undergo the awakening ceremony."

Rex nodded as Father spoke, "Good you understand the seriousness. Now I just want to say, when today you awaken your beast you will grow stronger than other students of the academy and children of the orphanage.

I know they have been troubling you these days, but I want you to promise me that you won't hit them after you awaken."

Rex stood there looking at Father in complicated emotions. 'Now I understand that as a guardian you have to be positive and take care of your wards, but what's with this weird confidence. Shouldn't your speech be something like It doesn't if you are able to awaken or not you are welcome here. Weird'

Rex gave a meek smile and nodded as he set out again for Academy. He reached a bit later than usual as he sat on his deck in class. The class hadn't begun and the students were discussing about the awakening ceremony.

"Are you guys ready for today's ceremony?"

"Aiyo!! Don't mention it. I was so nervous from the morning that I puked twice because of it."

"Yuck!! Don't mention your body fluids out in open."

"You know if I puked on your head, it would match your dirty yellow hair."

"I wish I am able to awaken my fish today."

"That's gonna be hard, in Zone 1 countries like our New Zealand its very hard to awaken your beast."

"Aii!! I know its hard that's why its more prestigious to awaken your beasts naturally."

"Yea its hard... Wait a minute you say naturally? That means we can awaken our beasts by using other methods too? Why didn't anyone tell me this?"

Rex was listening to these conversations, similarly to that other student Rex also didn't knew that there were different methods to awaken your beasts.

Suddenly he felt a tap on his shoulder, to turn around to see son of village chief tapping on his shoulder. Vivian Dixit was the 3rd generation child of Dixit family of the Kronor village.

His grandfather was awarded this village for his services in the army. He settled down here and took reigns of the village.

After his death, Manohar Dixit - the current village chief followed his father's footsteps and took the reigns after his father's death. Vivian on other hand first wanted to travel to bigger cities and maybe later take the reigns of the village business.

In academy, Vivian was a local warlord and was often followed by a group of his followers. Well lets call them followers as these students were sons of nearby business owners. Knowing the son of village chief was definitely beneficial for their families.

"Hey Vivian wassup? Ready for today's ceremony?" Rex asked.

"Yea, today's ceremony will surely be good. Once we awaken the beasts our bodies will undergo transformation." Vivian replied.

"Yea our bodies will become stronger and agile. Also academy will play special attention onto us and will cultivate us."

"Yea, the awakened people have different study course than normal people. And academy helps them to attain higher levels in cultivation."

"Yea. See you later at ceremony." Rex said as he sat back at his designated seat. While Vivian and his entourage continued towards back of classroom towards their seats.

One of the boys in it asked,"Young Master why do you still greet Rex? Did you forget..."

Vivian just cut him in between as he replied, " I remember it perfectly you a.s.s, I know Keiran is dead. All these years I befriended him because Keiran considered him as a brother. A person born with Bright Red Mana Core and a Black Scale Viper as his beast had a huge potential.

If that he would have grown powerful, our village would have definitely earned big. Not only would we have gained a huge supporter, but also our small village would have definitely turned into a town or a small city.

My father made me befriend Rex in lower grades, he also told me to earn his favours so ultimately Keiran owes us favours. But now with his death all the efforts went down the drain.

Now Rex is only the way we can salvage the efforts. He awakening is the only way we can earn something."

"But Boss, what if he fails?"

"Then...." Vivian grinned as his followers also snickered.

Teacher entered and all the murmurs and discussions ended.
