The Soul Of Lucifer

Chapter 27 - Goddess Tear

Sun opened the book and read the first words.

"Dear Diary ..."

"What the heck?!", Sun thought but read further.

"There was once a young boy, studied magic for the sake of others. He was very intelligent and overflown with talent in this field.

He wanted to become an Ether and fight off the Demons and Gods who want to take over the earth.

As time flew by, the boy became a mage of justice."

"Is this some kind of fairytale?", Sun thought after reading a while.

"The boy joined the army and was sent to a mission in the Demon Realm. For years, he fought for the sake of Esperia, but soon - they were defeated and he was the only survivor and nearly lost hope."

"Are you sad?", an unfamiliar, but modulated voice asked.

"Who is there?", he was shocked and thought it might be some kind of demon.

Then, a female appeared in front of him and repeated her question.

"You lost all your allies, friends and your loved one. Don't you resent the demons?", she asked.

"Of course I do - but there is nothing I can do. I lost my power. I thought that becoming a mage of justice I would be able to protect my comrades, but in the end - it's just a bloodbath and terror.", the mage answered.

"Are you frustrated?", she asked.

"Yes, of course.", the mage answered.

"Then - drink up.", she said and gave him a potion with a strange color.

"What is this?"

"Just drink it! I'm a goddess, not like I'm going to deceive you!", she pouted.

The mage did not have anything to lose and drank it.

Suddenly, he felt a burst inside him.

He was a fire mage, but he felt his element change from a red into a strange color.

"What did you do to me?"

"Oh, just a bit of power boost!", she said.

"What's the price? You can't just appear out of nowhere in front of me and give me this for nothing.", the mage asked.

"You're a sharp one. I like it.", the goddess smiled.

"You are going to pray to me, Sylvaresta, goddess of fate, from now on!", she said.

"That's your price?!", the mage asked in astonishment.

"I put a spell on you with the potion. You belong to me now in return for power.", she said and smiled at him.

"Even after I die?", the mage asked.

"Yup. You will eventually reincarnate and I will find you.", she said.

"Urg, whatever, it's not like I care. I've lost everything", he said and tears began to roll down his cheek as he remembered how his lover died.

"Mhm, good. You are mine now.", the goddess smiled and put her hands behind her back.

...

"Huh, is this potion the origin of the Goddess Tear?", Sun was straining his brain.

"But, if - no wait. Let's say, this book speaks the truth and this mage received the Goddess Tear.

She said he will reincarnate - the powers will be with him - so that means -!"

As Sun was thinking this through, he heard strange noises - the noise of cracking.

He looked around but he did not know where he was and the book disappeared. He found himself hovering in a dimension of stars.

"It's definitely not the Library... Lucifer? Oi, are you there?"

No answer.

Sun started to sweat as he did not know what to do.

"Eric, you are finally starting to remember! I can't do anything to you unless you start to remember! Gods have rules too you know!", a modulated female voice complained.

"Huh?! Sorry, but I think you are mistaking me for somebody.", Sun said, but he was relieved to hear someone talk. That meant he could get away from this place.

"Oh boy? I can't be mistaken! - I'm a goddess of fate, I know about your fate and your Soul is Eric's Soul! - Hm, I'm sure of it.", a teenage goddess appeared in front of Sun with a graceful smile on her face. Her skin was smooth, silky and flawless. Her silver hair falls down her back and her shoulders.

She wore a long and white ancient dress, the endings were hovering in the air.

She moved closer to Sun and embraced him with her arms.

"Eric, I'm here. You are not alone anymore.", she said in a comforting tone with sad purple eyes.

Sun just stood there and could not react to what was happening. His mind was a bit fuzzy and parts of memories he had never seen before appeared in his head, giving him a headache.

It was like a sudden memory explosion after having amnesia.

After taking a few deep breaths, Sun regained his mind.

"Sorry, but I'm Sun Reed, only Eric. You may have been around with my Soul and called him Eric - but that not me.", Sun said.

"I know.", she took a few steps back and looked at Sun with relishing eyes.

"You are a reincarnation of him - but of course not 'him', but you are still mine, by the rules of god, because of the promise made by the former 'you'.", she said.

"Wait - was the book telling the story of the person you refer to as 'Eric' ", Sun asked after putting some puzzle parts together.

"Oh, you've read his diary?", she asked.

"Sylvaresta.", Sun said.

"Yes. That's me!", the beautiful goddess said and spun around.

"But why was his diary in the Demon's Libary?", Sun thought and was confused.

"So, what am I doing here anyway?", Sun asked.

"For reforming the contract.", she said and drew some ancient words in the air.

"Why would I do that?", Sun asked a bit annoyed. He just wanted to find out about his element, but instead - it leads to her!

"Because you are mine?", she said lightly and finished her spell writing.

"Huh?"

"Don't worry. It won't take long."

"No, that's not what I wanted to say.", Sun wanted to leave this place.

During Rea's lecture, he learned that gods are greedy and sometimes very shameless. They play with humans and Espers in order to satisfy their boredom.

"No, I don't need this. You are probably just doing this to satisfy your boredom!"

Sylaresta heard this and her mimic changed drastically. She came closer to Sun with a serious face and next to his ears, she whispered:

"Sun, I'm not the goddess of fate for fun. You are mine and you need me. I can see your future, but I can't say anything to you because it would be considered breaking the rules - BUT what I can tell you is that you're a part of something much more bigger. If you want to protect your comrades, family, and friends, then you definitely need my help."

Sun's face turned stern and his attitude towards her changed.

"Can I trust you?", he asked.

"I give you my word. Besides, those who satisfy their boredom are just third-grade gods. I'm first grade. FIRST-GRADE! Heard that? Now, come here.", she answered.

Sun chose to trust her in the end. He also needed to leave this strange place after all.

"Just sign here.", she pointed with her slender finger at the end of the spell.

"How do I do it?"

"Use slice your finger open and sign with blood."

"Seems legit.", Sun bit his index finger and used the blood to sign the contract.

After signing, a flash of lighter covered the whole dimension and blended Sun's eyes.

Then he passed out.

__

Sun woke up with a headache. So much happened and he gets flashes of another person's memories. His vision was still a bit blurred thus unable to determine his surroundings.

"Oh, you're awake! Sooner than I expected!"

Sun heard a familiar voice and he tried to focus his vision.

In front of him was the face of a beautiful girl with purple eyes, hovering in the air.
