The Spirit Beast And His Wife

Chapter 3 - Jinglan Becomes a Neihang (3)

Using her lightness skill, she then vanished from their sight, shocking all the students that were silently watching her and Shu Fen. All they felt was a light gust in her wake. At the same time, her white figure reappeared in front of the study room where the boy pointed at. Feng Jinglan quietly slid the door open and went inside without the shocked students' notice.

"Master Wei, I'm back!" Feng Jinglan cupped her hands and bowed to the man who was so focused reading books that he did not even realized a person went in.

Feng Wei was her master and great uncle, as well as her guardian for the past 15 years. Her parents, according to her master, had went on a journey 15 years ago and have not returned. She had resented them for leaving her as soon as she was born but still felt a little hopeful of their return.

After all, seeing all her cousins with their mothers and fathers, Feng Jinglan felt a little envious.

Hearing his disciple's sweet voice, Feng Wei woke up from his studious trance and looked up from all the books and scrolls stacked and scattered on top of his desk. Upon seeing his beloved disciple, his mood beamed and he smiled widely, "Xiao Lan! Welcome back!"

He took off his circular glasses and stumbled his way through even more stacked and scattered books right on the floor and to his disciple with a wide smile plastered across his face, "How goes your cultivation, daughter."

Feng Wei has always treated Feng Jinglan as his own daughter even if he was only her great uncle, she felt warm and smiled to his call to her. Feng Jinglan answered her Master by holding out her right hand and gathering her ki to her palm.

Feng Jinglan let out a swirl of her spiritual energy, controlling her ki in the small area of the center of her palm making it look like a small tornado of mist. This controlled action had made her aura prominent in the surroundings. Feng Wei noticed that the pressure in her aura had grew much stronger and stable. This pressure around Feng Jinglan would have affected cultivators below the Neihang stage, but Feng Wei was in the Xianbei stage and was 7 ranks above Feng Jinglan so her aura did not affect him in the slightest.

The smile on his face grew even wider and his charming eyes forming crescent moons as he saw the pure ice blue color of her spiritual energy. Truly, a once in a century genius, he thought.

"Come, Xiao Lan. I must brag- cough ahem, report this to the Head Elder," Feng Jinglan's mouth slightly twitched and was a bit speechless at this Master of hers, but still nodded her head in the end anyways, as she let Feng Wei lead the way.

As he slid the door open, Feng Wei also sent a secret enchantment missive to the Head Elder somewhere in the estate. Because he opened the door quite abruptly without concealing the grinding noise, all the students snapped their heads to the study room. Once they saw that it was Master Wei, their instructor, they all shuffled to their feet, cupped their fists and greeted Feng Wei with a bow.

They secretly glanced at the beautiful lily from before from the corner of their eyes beside the Master Wei. Amongst all the staring eyes, Feng Jinglan could not help but recognize the boy whom she had troubled before and gave him a small nod.
