The Surgeon's Studio

Chapter 543 - Other Than Chief Zheng, Who Else Could He Trust?

"Boss Zheng, you really treat all kinds of illnesses here," Department Chief Kong said as he sighed from the bottom of his heart.

"Not really," Zheng Ren said with a smile. "Under normal circ.u.mstances, difficult and complicated illnesses are normally treated in the Capital or Shanghai. After all, doctors in local primary hospitals are usually not very experienced since they don't have as much exposure," Zheng Ren said with a smile.

Department Chief Kong nodded. Zheng Ren was speaking the truth.

"But since I was the one looking at it, I managed to solve it. If it can be treated at Sea City then it'll be better for the patients as it'll save them a lot of time and money."

As they spoke, the two of them went to the emergency observation room and met with the female patient who had originally thought she was pregnant.

The patient sat on the hospital bed and was eating an apple with a smile. She did not look like she was on the verge of death after her violent vomiting fit yesterday.

"How do you feel?" Zheng Ren asked with a smile.

"Very good," the young female patient said. "It doesn't hurt at all. I think I can be discharged today. Doctor, you're really good at your job."

"Well, you should go back home and rest well then," Zheng Ren looked at her family, giving them a slight smile before he turned to leave.

Walking along the corridor, Department Chief Kong teased, "It's really easy for you to explain the patient's condition to them and have efficient communication."

"I'm just alright," Zheng Ren said. "The main thing is to not tell too much to the patient so that they can accept the psychological hints that you're giving them."

Generally speaking, it was easy to induce a placebo effect. Under certain conditions, it was something that even doctors could administer.

However, Zheng Ren was afraid. He was afraid that this little patient would think too much and these thoughts would fester on. He was not sure then what kind of trouble it would cause in the future.

In fact, the most puzzling thing about the matter was the fact that the patient had not previously engaged in any sort of intimate behavior. She did not even have a boyfriend. How could she have even believed that she was pregnant?

Zheng Ren did not have the time to understand the patient's mental journey in detail as he had not done previous research in that particular area. Therefore, he could only solve the problem using his own wits.

He believed that after this incident, the patient's family would also notice this particular problem.

He also hoped that similar problems would not happen again in the future.Find authorized novels in , faster updates, better experience, Please click <a href="#&apos;s-studio_%!d(string=16489637605120805)/other-than-chief-zheng-who-else-could-he-trust_%!d(string=51118317783534805)">#&apos;s-studio_%!d(string=16489637605120805)/other-than-chief-zheng-who-else-could-he-trust_%!d(string=51118317783534805)</a> for visiting.

After walking around the ward, Zheng Ren told Department Chief Kong in detail about the conditions of those staying in the emergency ward.

They were all senior doctors so there was no need to say too much. Department Chief Kong only nodded, indicating that he was following.

Just as he walked out of the emergency ward, the doctor from the emergency surgery department shouted from the other side of the corridor, "Chief Zheng, come here for a moment."

Zheng Ren glanced at Department Chief Kong and smiled bitterly in his heart.

The two of them went over. The emergency department's doctor said, "Chief Zheng, we just so happen to have a patient with simple appendicitis. Everything should be quite straightforward."

Zheng Ren took a look at the patient. She was a woman in her forties and slightly overweight.

He brought her up for a physical examination and then an emergency test afterward. The results matched the diagnosis on the System panel at the top right of his field of vision.

It was an acute simple appendicitis that required surgery because the patient was in severe pain.

Zheng Ren brought the patient and Department Chief Kong upstairs for in-patient surgery. On the way there, he asked the patient's family members if they had done a water fast beforehand so that surgery could be performed immediately.

Initially, he was not that anxious.

However, Zheng Ren was afraid that other things might pop up, so he told Chang Yue who was on duty to hurry up and perform the surgery.

After a long afternoon, it was almost time to get off from work.

While he was preparing for the surgery, Department Chief Kong walked around the emergency ward to take a look.

Just as they were about to start the operation, Zheng Ren received a call from Chief Sun. He said that there was a difficult case that he needed the other's help to consult.

Zheng Ren was especially speechless. What he was afraid of had come true.

Even if he wanted to refuse, Chief Sun's tone sounded very urgent. He did not sound like his usual pretentious and overly polite self.

From the tone of his voice, Zheng Ren could tell that the matter was very urgent.

He could only ask the patient to wait for a while so that things could be discussed later.

That bastard Su Yun insisted on having two drinks with Department Chief Kong at noon. Although it had already been three to four hours since then and the other was a heavy drinker, Zheng Ren still did not dare to take the risk of letting him perform the surgery alone.

Twenty years ago, it was not unheard of for someone to go on stage and perform an appendectomy from the main surgeon's side after drinking too much alcohol. Zheng Ren rejected such nonsense from the bottom of his heart.

Soon, Chief Sun rushed over with a crying child in his arms.

"Chief Zheng, Chief Zheng, help me take a look... Please." Chief Sun was on the verge of tears. Anyone could tell just from looking just how fl.u.s.tered he was.

"Who is this?" Zheng Ren asked first.

"My eleven-year-old grandson. He has intussusception. I went to give him an air enema but he wouldn't open up." Chief Sun's hands could not help but tremble. As he spoke, tears streamed down his face.

"Hurry this way." Zheng Ren let Chief Sun into the office and began to ask about his medical history.

The whole family stood in the corridor, the atmosphere somewhat depressing.

The laboratory test list was very limited. There was only one blood routine and one X-ray done before the failed air enema. Chief Sun said that the blood clotting sample had been sent to the laboratory department but there was still no report.

When the illness had initially popped up, Chief Sun determined that it was an intussusception based on his many years of clinical experience. Therefore, he brought his grandson to the hospital. After checking the blood routine, they then went to the radiology department for an air enema.

However...

Chief Sun had performed over a thousand air enemas in his lifetime and solved countless infant intussusceptions. When he gave his grandson an air enema, he realized that the intussusception in the ileocecal region could not be opened no matter how hard he tried.

He could treat normal folks but not the ones close to him… The whole matter made him feel so helpless.

If there was anyone in Sea City General Hospital or even the entire province that he could trust, it was Zheng Ren.

The child's belly was swollen up like a balloon. He did not even have the strength to cry. The System's panel on the upper right side of Zheng Ren's field of vision gave an extremely strange diagnosis—intussusception, acute appendicitis, and intestinal parasitic disease.

That was...

Were there similar cases? Zheng Ren was in a trance for a moment as he tried to remember.

Seeing Zheng Ren's serious expression, Chief Sun was almost in despair.

"Chief... Chief Zheng, how… How is it?" Chief Sun could not even speak properly.

"We need to operate immediately," Zheng Ren answered immediately.

Regarding further details, they would talk about it after the operation was carried out.

For a disease like intussusception that the air enema could not open, surgery was a requirement.

However, what could Zheng Ren do? This was a child...
