The Survival of an Inferior

A cold breeze blows by. 

I try my best to listen for any sound cue. Snow wolves are silent but occasionally they slip up. 

*Tch*

A twig...huh.

I'm probably surrounded. 

...

...

"Grrrr," a growl came.

I swiftly shift my musket to my left and shoot.

*BAM!*

"RARGHH!!" 

Three wolves leap in from behind and two from the side. 

I dive forward into a somersault to dodge the pounce and used Bullet Hell on the three wolves.

4 bullets managed to hit and killed one of them. The other two were hit in their legs and torso.

However, the wolves that came from the sides both managed to land a scratch on my arms as I jump back.

*BOOM!*

Suddenly, something big bursts out of nowhere and bites firmly onto my body. The creature charges into a rocky wall and rams its prey to it.

"ARCGHK?!!" I grit my teeth and groan.

FUCK...

I put my musket to its skin.

*BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM!!!!!!!* 

"RARGH!?" the creature cries out.

The grip loosens and I shoot once more before kicking the creature away.

"Ugh...Luckily, I prepared." I mumble. Chainmail armour is under the coat I wear.

The creature is a wolf that is twice the size of the regular ones. In addition, its skin is black contrasting the white fur of regular snow wolves. Several purple crystal spikes are erected around its body, discharging electricity at its tip. 

It's a tier 3 wolf...that must be the leader of the pack.

Two more snow wolves appear with the leader.

Damn it...Dexterity is a problem. I'm too slow to outrun any of them.

The wolves circle me as I slowly back off with my musket up. I glance around and see a cave.

An idea came to mind.

I walk towards the cave as much as I can until the wolves leap in. I then used Bullet Hell on the snowy ground, blasting clouds of water vapour and ice into the air as cover for me to run to the cave.

A wolf picks up my scent and leaps at me.

My feet hit a rock and I stumble, unintentionally lowering my body to dodge that attack.

I reach the cave and stand my ground within. 

The wolves approach the cave cautiously.

*BAM!!*

The bullet hits a wolf's head, killing it. 

The leader growls at me from outside the cave. The wolves all hide behind the leader's body for protection. In that formation, they slowly advance into the cave.

In this cave, their actions are limited yet they push forward. They are definitely not hungry enough to risk their lives killing one person...is it the tier 3 wolf leader's pride?

I sigh. 

How simpleminded for an apex predator.

I aim my musket at the roof and shoot it.

*BOOOM!*

The rocks and icicles at the top fall down, piercing and crushing the wolves. The entrance caves in trapping me and the leader wolf. a large icicle stabs the leader's torso and its legs are crushed. 

Enough line shines through the gaps and I can see the leader's face.

"Grrr..." A weak growl came. 

I place my muzzle at its eye and kill it.

I used Bullet Hell at the entrance and clears a path out. 

With enough light, I proceed to extract the wolf leader's mana stone.

This time, I found an orange mana stone. 

A smile widens as I examine the glowing crystal. 

As far as I know, the mana density of mana stone, from the lowest, starts from blue to orange, then yellow, red and lastly black.  

An example of a black mana stone comes from a high-ranking demon like Jared, his soul stone has an eerie dust phasma surrounding its void texture.

The remaining wolves ran in fear, I start moving towards the smoke at Chael.

The carriage stopped beside a tall wall surrounding a town. One part of the wall crumbled down and fire is mostly coming from that direction. Orca jumps out of the carriage.

Radz pulls Orca back as a boar with long curved tusks charge at her. Radz's subordinate stabs the beast to death. Several more boars, with wolves and what seems like lizard reptiles notice the carriage.

"Neighh!!!" 

"I'm sorry, I cannot stay here!" the coachman says. 

"It's alright. Go!" Radz replies. 

Radz grabs the big sword behind his back and swings it down to bring devastating destruction to a wolf near him. 

"Let's move accordingly, I will protect the young lady as we move," says Radz.

"Yes!"

Radz takes a deep breath. A swirl of mana engulfs his body and moves to his sword. He then bends his knees and leaps forward the wave of beasts with the sword at his side. With one horizontal slash of his sword, Radz ejects a curve mana shockwave that cuts through enemies in a "fan" shape. 

Suddenly, a boar, three times as big as a human, charges at Radz.

Radz blocks the boar's tusk with his large sword but is still pushed back. 

"ARCK!!!!" Radz grits his teeth and clenches his muscles. He places his hands on the blade and the hilt, trying to battle the boar in terms of strength.  

"Captain!" a subordinate jumps in and tries to help. 

"Idiot! Stay away!" Radz exclaims.

But it was too late, a wolf pounced on that subordinate and bit into his face.

"ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!" The subordinate cries out. 

No one is available to help that fallen warrior. Everyone has their fair share of desperate battles. 

More and more beast swoops in to join the meal, eating the subordinate alive gruesomely. Orca goes pale as she sees the guts, eyeballs, and puddles of blood flying around the twitching, still alive, subordinate. 

An amputated arm flies through the sky raining blood and falls onto Orca's lap.

"EEK!!!" She screeches.

Another warrior succumbs to the waves of the never-ending beast, having his arm torn off by the wolf.

"ARGHHH!!! DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Radz screams and manages to parry the boar's strength. He swiftly spins his body and slices the huge boar into two chunks of meat.

"Young lady!" Radz cries out when he sees a wolf about to attack Orca.

*BAM!!*

A shot of air-infused bullet came from nowhere and instantly kills the wolf.
