Chapter 24

"C-Calm down...did you load that black stone into your musket?" Elsa asks, raising her hand above her head.

"And?"

"The musket will explode from the shot. At the very least, you will lose your limbs," she warns me.

A smirk slides onto my face as veins pop on my forehead. "Hah, how can you say that after what you've done? I will take the entire Elven Kingdom down with me." I reply.

"Y-You..."

Demonic mana is leaking out of my musket. If I press the trigger, a burst of demonic energy will explode out, befalling rapid destruction. Also, the land will be corrupted with demonic mana. No living things can live on corrupted land including elves.

"A-Alright...I will call for them...just let me go."

"I'm not stupid. Elves can communicate using magic, use magic to call them." I say.

"How did you...alright."

As Elsa calls for the elves, I switch positions such that my back is facing the Life Tree.

Soon, several elves congregate outside the throne room. Some are flying outside and gazing in.

From afar, a particular group of elves in the air piqued my attention. A dignified elf with a long beard wearing a royal crown and red robes flies among other elf nobility. That man is the king of this kingdom...Asform Rein Luminous. Another person worth mentioning is the short elf with white hair beside Asform, that boy is a justice genius freak called Curlo.

I want to meet him but now is not the time.

An elf wearing a white robe shows up with his hand above his head.

"I-I heard you need me."

"Use your blessing on my injured companion," I say.

The priest elf nods and hovers his hand above Lena. Green dust-like mana appears from his palm and rains on Lena's wound.

Lena's pale face and frantic breathing slowly mitigate. The elf then slowly removes the foreign wood from her body and takes out a bottle of emerald liquid, pouring the substances on her open wound.

Her wound glows and the surrounding skin extends, closing the wound.

"I'm sorry, this is the most I can do." The priest elf says.

Lena's energy core is damaged, she might not be able to use magic ever again but at least she lives to see another day.

"Now can you let me go...? I promise your safety and blessing from the fairy. I'm sorry." says Elsa.

"Bullshit. I want extra compensation." I say.

"What?" Elsa exclaims. "D-Don't go too far! I admit it's our fault but-"

I touch the trigger.

"Okay okay!! What do you want?"

"Two artifacts, Pill of Life and Nature's Wrath," I reply.

Immediately after my request, a notification pops up.

Many elves' kingdoms are scattered across this continent and so is the Demon Lord's influence. Thus, I blatantly offend this kingdom because the ruler himself is a devoted lunatic of a cultist. There's no reason to flatter an enemy so I might as well take full advantage of the situation.

Elsa conveys my message to someone. After a while, approval was given by Asform as he descends from the sky into the throne room. Two elves follow behind carrying a small box each.

"This is what you requested, human." Says Asform.

The elves walk forward with trembling arms and open the box. I confirm the contents and nod to Radz, he helps me collect the items.

"In addition, this is what we originally promised," Asform says and snaps.

A few tiny humanoid creatures with butterfly wings wearing leaves fly into the throne room. They gather around us and our body glows.

A mana chain restricts the king's energy core. If he breaks the oath, his energy core will be destroyed. However, the oath is not omnipotent. There are loopholes.

"I apologize on behalf of Elsa for throwing each of you into the dungeon, we had no choice. However, thanks to the dungeon removal, we regain connection to the Life Tree and can once again protect your city from beast hordes. Thus, let's set our grudges aside," says Asform.

Haha...fucker here is acting as if he didn't deliberately cause the recent beast horde.

I notice a female elf behind Asform staring straight into my soul, not blinking.

"No, I didn't." I lie.

Asform glance at the same elf staring into my soul. The woman nods, approving my answer.

Ah...she was using "Lie Detection". However, it is easy to evade telling the complete truth once you realise "Lie Detection" only detects the literal fact. Technically I did not kill Jared myself, the explosion I set off did and I did find his soulstone inside my coat.

"A deal is a deal. A horde of dragonic warriors and a dragon is heading for the human city near...Chael if I'm not wrong." says Asform

I widen my eyes.

"A dragon...shit," I mumble.

It's the damn butterfly effect again. If so, we don't have any time to waste.

I gesture for Radz to get ready to leave. He carries Lena and I carry the baggage.
