The Treasure She Never Asked For

Chapter 27 - Known Intentions

It did not take Marcel too long to get back to the orphanage, and once he arrived, he made a beeline to Geroge's office. He had plans for later that day and he did not want to risk not being able to see him before he left.

Once he arrived in front of his office door, Marcel knocked and let himself in before he even received a response from George to come in. George watched as Marcel made himself comfortable in his office.

"I didn't tell you to come in," George said with a frown.

"Do you want me to go out and knock again?" Marcel asked with raised eyebrows as he pointed at the door with his thumb. George silently looked at Marcel because he couldn't think of a good enough comeback.

"What do you want?" George asked.

"I'm leaving tomorrow," Marcel said as he leaned back on the chair that he was sitting on.

"That's a relief' George mumbled under his breath.

"Don't be relieved so soon," Marcel said as he leaned forward and George pulled his hands away from the desk.

"What do you want?" George asked again. The boy had changed, he used to be docile before but now he even found his face annoying.

"It's about Liam," Marcel said with a smirk. George couldn't help but think the kid had gotten devious. He wondered if he got new friends or started hanging out with bad company.

"What about him?" George asked.

"I'll be taking him for the weekends," Marcel said.

"Do you even have a place to stay?" George asked smugly.

"Yes, you might not know this, but I've signed with Big Star," Marcel said with a smile. He hadn't signed the contract yet but George didn't need to know that. When George heard what Marcel said, his eyes widened in surprise.

"Big star?" George asked as if to make sure that he hadn't heard wrong.

"That's right, Big Star, and I'm being provided with accommodations for the company so there is no need to worry about where Liam will be staying," Marcel said.

"Won't you be jeopardising his chances of getting adopted?" George asked nervously. He was actually waiting for Marcel to leave so that he could have free access to the kid. He knew his looks would probably appeal to a lot of people who had peculiar tastes.

"Are you saying that because you're actively trying to get these children adopted

He had never thought that Marcel would make such demands upon his departure.

"I still can't let you take him freely," George said.

"I know what's going on in that fat head of yours," Marcel said. His mood and aura had completely changed. He was not expecting George to be cooperative in the first place, but he really didn't have much time to beat around the bush on the matter either.

George didn't know if he should be angry or nervous. He did not have a strong character at all in reality. He was the type of person who would do a lot of bootl.i.c.k.i.n.g as long as it benefitted him at the end of the day.

And even though he had connections, he had never been the position to ask for much favours but rather, he would do things for these influential people and would get rewarded with money.

He had started working at the orphanage not too long ago so he hadn't gotten the chance to fully exploit the children who lived there. In short, he had no morals at all.

There were some of the older kids that he had started getting close to. In fact, Marcel was one of them up until he came to demand his money and inform him that he would be leaving once he found a job.

He had placed a lot of hope on Marcel because even though he hated to admit it. The boy was very handsome. It would not be difficult to get some 'rewards' when such a person was brought to those men and women.

"You are probably thinking of exploiting these kids aren't you?" Marcel asked bluntly and George closed his mouth. He did not admit it, but he also didn't deny it.

"I'll be taking him on the weekends. I came to inform you of this, I didn't exactly come here to ask you for your permission" Marcel said as he stood.

"Ah, if I hear that you are taking advantage of the kids here I will go blab to the media. I'll be a public figure soon anyway." Marcel said and turned to leave, but he was stopped by something that George said.

"You don't have any evidence," George said.

"That's the only reason you are sitting on your desk right now. Do you think the media needs evidence? The previous headmaster was sc.u.m. If I mention him an investigation will be done against you as well. Which side do you think the public will take? An orphan who is trying to make a living for himself and his orphan brother? Or the headmaster that is selling children to rich people?" Marcel asked and left the office.

As he stood outside the office door he had to take deep breaths to calm himself down.

How could George have such a punchable face? He had almost pounced on him from across the desk from anger. After being able to manage his emotions, he walked away completely unaware of the panic that George was experiencing.

George was wondering how Marcel knew about what his plans were. He must have guessed it right? Just because he said he was planning to sell the kids it didn't mean that he knew how he was going to sell them right?

He hadn't told anyone about these plans, and it is quite obvious that the people who put him in his current position would not be careless about such a s.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e issue. How did he know about his intentions?
