The Universal Villain

Chapter 38 - The Baboon King

Standing in the air, Shen looked down at the ground as the ball of Ki continued to drill down into the ground, Shen suddenly felt his attack stop. The Ki blast began to shake violently as it looked as if something was trying to go straight through it.

After just another moment, something shot through his attack flying past him in the air, landing far in the distance twinkling like a star. Staring down at the ground, a hole had ripped through his Ki blast as it became unable to keep itself together and dissipated. Through this, Shen could hear heavy footsteps pound on the ground as he floated back down to the earth.

Shen's head slowly made its way up as a figure was cast through the smoke as it became increasingly more clear. 'Now that's more of what I expected from the Baboon King.' Thinking to himself, Shen marveled as a massive arm made its way out of the smoke crushing the ground underneath it, leaving a fist print in the ground.

As its figure became fully visible, Shen was faced with a beast. With its whitish-green fur covering its skeletal body armor covered its body, including its shoulders, which had skulls on them as if they were pauldrons. Making its way above the Baboon in front of Shen, a white snake hovered over the Baboon's head looking at Shen.

Covering the snake's body from its head all the way to its end was a skeletal spine with red fur creating a mane around its head. "So, I take it. This is your true form?" Shen asked, noticing Renji behind the beast. Covered by his Zanpakuto's shadow, Renji didn't speak as he just sat there in awe with his eyes widened, staring at the scene before him.

The last thing he saw was a flash of light as his Zanpakuto spirits stood in front of him. "Is this... Your Bankai?" Speaking up, Renji spoke in a soft voice as if he was talking to himself only to see Zabimaru turn its head to the side, looking down at Renji. Nodding at Renji before turning back to Shen, its face began to scrunch up as it opened its mouth.

Out of nowhere, a loud roar echoed forth with enough force to cause a small hurricane flinging rocks left and right. Even though he was behind them, Renji still found himself covering his ears from the deafening noise.

Standing in front of the wave of sound, Shen didn't move as the attack hit him a barrier suddenly appeared protecting himself and the ground beneath him as everything else around him was stripped away. Seeing their attack did no damage, Zabimaru closed their mouth, staring at Shen, who lowered his barrier.

"Well, aren't you loud?" Saying that, Zabimaru made a move and began running at Shen at full speed on all fours. Surprisingly although it was big, its agility was nothing to laugh at as it got closer to Shen. The snake tail raised itself again, aiming straight as Shen opened its mouth as red Reiatsu began to gather, forming an orb.

Following up, Shen raised his hand as the snakehead fired at Shen. Zipping through the air, the Reiatsu attack gained speed as it flew heading straight for Shen, who quickly gathered Ki and firing a Ki blast to intercept theirs. As the two attacks clashed, an explosion appeared in the air as Zabimaru continued to run at Shen.

While they continued to approach the snake, half of Zabimaru didn't stop shooting at Shen. In response, Shen didn't hesitate to counter with a volley of his own. One after one there attacks clashed in the air blocking out the sun.

However, Shen was forced to stop his firefight when Zabimaru was right on top of him. Upclose the sheer size difference came into play as Shen saw Zabimaru send a punch from his right. Raising his arm, Shen tried to block the attack. However, the moment his body came felt the force behind this strike. He felt his body go numb for a moment as he was launched across the sky.

'All that in a single punch.' Unable to stabilize himself in the air Shen landed on his back crashing into a part of the area were jungle trees still stood tall. Breaking through dozens of them at a time, a trail of destruction showed Shen's collision path as he finally came to a stop.

Standing up out of the rubble, Shen checked his arm only to see it shaking from the impact. Lowering his arm, Shen looked forward as a path was opened through the forest he saw a red light in the distance getting brighter. 'Oh, crap.' Quickly jumping in the air Shen could see something flying through the path he created through the forest hitting the place he lying.

Watching the explosion set fire to the forest from above, Shen's eyes began to morph as he activated the Sharingan. Using the Sharingan's enhanced vision, Shen was confused when he saw Zabimaru pulling back there fist, looking straight at Shen's direction. 'What are they doing?' As if they were throwing their fist, they punched towards Shen as something miraculous happened.

Suddenly Zabimaru's arm began to extend as stretching across the sky into the clouds getting closer to Shen, who began evading it early thanks to the Sharingan's precognition. Just a few seconds later, Zabimaru's fist entered Shen's vision zooming past his face. The sheer size and the speed made Shen shiver. 'Imagine if that hit me dead on.'

Shen didn't even want to think about it as he held out his hand using Zabimaru's arm as a guide, a Ki blast that glowed like a red star formed in his hand. "Catch!" Firing the attack followed Zabimaru's stretched arm as if it was a guide rail. As Shen's strike flew down towards them, the snakehead fired three Reiatsu bombs towards Shen's attack.

However, the moment they came within a specific range, they shattered, turning into small sparks. Seeing their attack did nothing, Zabimaru quickly retracted their arm and moved out of the way as Shen's strike hit the ground. It expanded rapidly, engulfing the area Zabimaru was standing in.

At that moment, Zabimaru's eyes left Shen, and just as they escaped, they were greeted with Shen right in front of them. Coating his hand in Haki, Shen sent an uppercut straight to Zabimaru's chin, the force of which launched them into the air. 'Now, your mine!'

Shen placed his hands together as a bright light shone behind as dozens of palms multiplied, becoming a barrage that began to rain down on Zabimaru, who was still in the air.

Watching this scene from afar, Renji could only watch helplessly.
