The Unknown God

Chapter 33 - House Umbra

Simply collected his flag from the tailor. The flag displayed the silver dragon of House Umbra on deep blue background. Content with the result and the efficiency, he placed a second order. This time, two thousand simple uniforms. Which included a casual blue tunic with Draconic {Simply just scribbled it on a piece of paper for the tailors to copy, they have no idea what it means.} lettering symbolizing "Cadet" on both shoulder sleeves, a simple pant made out of the same material as the flax tunic. A leather belt and boot completed the set.

"My lord, if I may ask, why do you need such a large quantity of clothes? Are perhaps raising an army?" enquired the perplexed head tailor.

"No, no, no. Far from that. I'm simply doing my duty as a member of this nation's nobility, in looking after the less fortunate. I came across the heartbreaking story of the urchins that now roam these streets. Fatherless, motherless, too weak to look after themselves. How will they survive? I am simply doing my moral duty in offering them a roof over their heads, food and clothes. My outpost will always welcome these poor souls," replied Simply in a noble loud voice.

Simply's intentions touched the surrounding tailors and patrons who overheard his charismatic speech.

[Charisma check passed. The people have been touched by your noble actions. They will now try to help you.]

"Oh, such a kind hearted man!" exclaimed a shopping lady, with a fancy hat.

"Duke Astrus made a good choice," added an old gentleman fashionably dressed.

"I agree," seconded the tailer who was taking his measurements.

The head tailor twirled his sleek moustache. In a serious voice, he told Simply, "Allow me to contribute in your noble endeavour. I will notify the other tailoring shops about your cause. Though I cannot tell you their decisions yet, my shop will tailor these clothes as fast as possible, without cutting corners. Furthermore, we will only charge you the price of the materials. Belethor's Tailoring Shop will support you."

"You have my sincere thanks, Mister Belethor."

Simply exited the shop with a big smile. Not only had the head tailor of the best clothing shop decided to only charge him half a gold coin per uniform set, bringing his grand total to a thousand gold coins. His order would be delivered in batches. The first thousand within the week and the rest during the following two weeks. The patrons had also offered their help, which Simply gracefully accepted. The lady with the fancy hat was in fact a very rich merchant, who dealt with food and spices. She offered to set aside enough grains and vegetables for the children and teenagers for three months. Simply only had to collect it from her warehouse in Eternal Landing and transport it himself to his outpost. Once he was finished the well dressed gentleman also came forward. He offered a large amount of building materials such as wood, iron and stone at a low price for the construction of the outpost. His company was one of the biggest suppliers of materials within the empire. Furthermore, he even proposed to send some of his architects to help Simply build his new settlement.

He quickly made his way back to the rundown smithy. The ring had been completed. The old man gave it to Simply without a word, who promptly inspected it.

"You are a GRANDMASTER BLACKSMITH!!! Holy molly!" exclaimed the shocked Simply.

Yngol Forgefire laughed at his young patron.

"Here, with the extra materials, I made these eight rings. Every great house has elders. House Umbra should also have house elders to distribute the responsibilities."

He handed Simply eight identical rings. They were similar to the first ring, with just one slight difference: the dragon was black instead of silver white. They also did not possess the magical enchantment.

[Darksteel Ring] (Blue | Rare, Ring)

Flawlessly made by a blacksmith grandmaster out of the rare metal dark steel. All Attributes +10.

Simply thanked the elder blacksmith and left to register his household.

The Town Hall was crowded at this hour. The sun had set, making the wilds unhospitable for the players. In the darkness, monsters roamed the land, looking for unfortunate souls to devour. The Town Hall offered the players a place to exchange their hard earned contribution points for items and titles. Only with a title could a player purchase land within the town. The land within the town was constantly being snatched up by the new arrivals of NPC merchants making the guilds freakout. The price had even tripled within a game week, and would constantly increase as this town was fated to be the seat of the Eternal Empire, the hub of trade between the new continent and the old one. The pressure to secure a plot of land rose in crescendo.

Within the midst of the enormous queues of players waiting their turn at the counters, Simply made his way towards the staircase. The giant staircase that stood in the middle of the hall was guarded by armed guards. A few foolish players had attempted to bypass the guards and have a look upstairs. Unfortunately for them, the guards had swiftly dispatched them.

Everyone watched on as the silver haired youth made his way towards his doom. They gawked at what happened next. Instead of being killed, the guards bowed towards the youth and allowed him to continue on his way up the stairs. It was so unreal that they only recovered thier minds after he had disappeared to the mysterious second floor.

Upon questioning, the players learned that the man was a knight of the Empire. The spy within the crowd quickly reported the event to their superiors. It was not long before all the major powers made the connection between the person at the City Lord Mansion and the person at the Town Hall was one and the same.

"So he is already a knight? Interesting. Yoseph, learn everything you can about him."

"Understood boss."
