Chapter 8 - 8 Realm's First

Under the gaze of the settlements guards and militia members, the metallic beast and the white-haired adventure clashed. Simply dodged the first attacks by sliding under the leaping predator but is forced to use his sword to deflect the fatal claw swipe. Shattering the sword's durability to a single digit, while sending the wielder flying ten meters away. The stark difference in the attribute was displayed for all to see. Simply stabs his heavily damaged blade into the ground to slow his momentum. Drawing the mysterious jar he faces off against his opponent. He advanced with all the swagger in the world as the predator approached him.

"Come kiss my sword's edge."

The steel predator understood but failed to comprehend the underlying provocation. It roared at the puny human who dared insult it. Unseen by everyone, the moment it let out its roar, Simply's lips curled up. Using a martial art movement technique, he instantly reduced the distance and shoved the jar into the predator's jaws, cutting the terrifying roar short.

"Hasta la Vista, Baby!" smirking, Simply retreated while shaping his fingers.

Stunted by the audacity of what had just occurred, the steel predator reacted a second too late. The jar had already made its way into the beast's stomach, and once the key phrase was uttered, it activated. The fire spell, although weak, initiated the chemical reaction of the other elements. This reaction, unknown to the inhabitants of this world is commonly known as a thermite reaction in the real world. Capable of reaching temperatures of 2500°c, it reduced the internal mechanism, to molten slag. Similar to a tank, the steel predator external surface was heavily reinforced, physically and magically, making it immune all attacks from players at this stage of the game. However, the internals was not designed as such.

Reluctant to die alone, the demon assassin leapt towards its target. Simply switched his sword grip to a mordhau grip, holding the sword inverted, with both hands gripping the blade, and delivered the fatal blow to the steel predator with the sword's crossguard. The durability exceeded, the sword shattered after having served its purpose.

"What THE F.U.C.K! That's, like broken. F.u.c.k!"

Every living being possesses a soul, soul attacks can only be blocked by possessing a higher tiered soul than the attacker. Making this a broken large scale attack against both players and mobs. The only negative point of this skill was it's long cooldown time.

The Steel Predator's loot was quite generous. It dropped ten random items from its 10 last kills: broken swords, spears and a boot, yeah 'a' leather boot! However, that was not the actual value of this demonic assassin. The true treasure was the metallic body and the demonic core. The demonic core had been completely destroyed by the internal, infernal thermal blast. {sorry could help myself :)}

In order to process the corpse, one needed to be a blacksmith, at minimum a journeyman level blacksmith. Simply had planned to take up this profession, so this gave him a push of encouragement to take it up. Otherwise, he would not be able to receive his loot, in full. The settlement's blacksmith could of course process it, however, Simply did not want to share his hard-earned loot with strangers.

Nonetheless, processing it into usable gear and harvesting it were two different things. Harvesting the remains of enemies only required a suitable tool, in this case, a pickaxe. Simply had bought one in case he came across an ore during his grinding.

After a few moments of hard work, Simply managed to harvest a 187kg of Darksteel. Darksteel was a rare metal made from dark iron which could only be found deep underground. The process of making dark steel was only known by the Demonkind's most skilful blacksmith. This metal had been reinforced by magic, giving it immunities to electricity and poison damage as well as bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing from nonmagical attacks. This was an upper mid-game material, designed to be discovered at level 400...

Yes, the Steel Predator was a level 425 world boss. Luckily, Simply had come up with an ingenious strategy, otherwise, Eternal Landing would have been annihilated. The strongest NPC in the settlement was only level 386. Another factor, that played in Simply's favour was something that he was about to discover.

'Oh ho! Now that's what I'm talking about! Looks good, and what a coincidence!'

The sword was in ruin: its point shattered, its edge blunt, its crossguard cracked and its once magnificent handle was a wreak. The wooden and leather components crumbled on touch due to the intense heat it had endured inside the beast. However, the blade had not been melted, only deformed. A testimony of the quality of the sword, further supported by the fact that its stats were filled with question marks.

When Simply opened his eyes, he stood in a different dimension. Surrounding him was an endless white void. An imposing sword was laid on an elegant marble display stand. The Sword bore a striking resemblance to the broken blade he had found inside the steel predator. Extremely radiant was that sword when observed in this state. The light shone silvery in it and its edge was firm and keen. A man stood proudly opposite from Simply. He was dressed in ivory white robes with golden dragonic designs. His facial appearance was the most intriguing aspect of him. His silver hair matched his eyes that appeared to be made of molten gold. And his ears were those of an elf. The elegant elfish prince gracefully smiled and spoke with a voice soo lovely, it could make a person drop in admiration.

"Friend, what is your d.e.s.i.r.e?"
