So with that out of the way, my life has been smooth sailing so far. I guess that鈥檇 be a lie. After all, the other students are just watching me from afar, and Ms. Aiba and I still aren鈥檛 acquainted enough to be on a casual chatting basis.

On my part, I鈥檝e been spending my time reading during breaks, so nothing much really changed. And since I鈥檝e been serious during the lessons, the teachers haven鈥檛 had any complaints about me. Rather, they don鈥檛 even talk to me.

銆孒m~mh, tea鈥檚 tasting good.銆?br>
During the lunch break, I silently eat alone on a bench found opposite the cafeteria, where there aren鈥檛 many people around. After all, it鈥檚 nice to at least have a relaxing meal. I ate in the classroom once but people kept looking and I couldn鈥檛 relax.

Is my lunch really that weird?

銆孎rozen food would make for an easy meal, but the price though.銆?br>
Cooking it myself really limits the expenses better. The leftovers can be breakfast or dinner, I can use them for a lot of things. The same can be said with frozen meals, but again money鈥檚 the issue. For drinks, I have a thermos of green tea, so no issue there. Coffee wouldn鈥檛 really fit my lunch, so I sadly had to give up on it. And there鈥檚 no way I鈥檇 buy canned coffee from a vending machine.

銆孒mn?銆?br>
Feels like someone鈥檚 watching me. This place is pretty out-of-the-way, people don鈥檛 even come through here, so I wonder who it is. Rather, I have this bench for myself as always, so I guess it鈥檚 coming from a corner. Still, I wonder who it is.

Looking around, I found someone peeping out from the cover of the building. I saw a lunchbox on her, so maybe she was looking for a place with not many people like I did.

For now, I tried tapping on the empty side of the bench and she happily came over.

What鈥檚 with this adorable small creature?

銆孶-um, can I sit next to you?銆?br>
銆孖t鈥檚 not like I own this bench, so feel free.銆?br>
I鈥檓 just sitting on the middle of the bench since no one鈥檚 around. You shouldn鈥檛 be greedy in these sorts of public places. I understand that. Though I honestly wanted to have a relaxing time alone.

銆學hat is it?銆?br>
銆孨o, I just thought that your lunch is so pretty.銆?br>
銆孖 only cobbled up random ingredients though.銆?br>
銆孍h, you made it yourself!?銆?br>
Is that really something to be shocked about? Kotone making her own lunch is probably something that other students can鈥檛 imagine. To begin with, she doesn鈥檛 really make stuff by herself. The lunch itself is mainly fish and vegetables, focused on money-saving meals as usual.

銆孖 live on my own, so I have to handle things like this by myself. On that topic, your lunch looks lovely as well.銆?br>
銆孧y mother made mine, so it鈥檚 not like I cooked it myself.銆?br>
銆孒m~mn. Still, it鈥檚 nice enough that someone made this lunch for you.銆?br>
Some families don鈥檛 do that after all and some just give out allowances so you can buy at the cafeteria or the school stores. It鈥檚 by no means a bad thing, but for me, that鈥檚 really luxurious. Rather, don鈥檛 choke yourself as soon as you start eating!? Why are you stuffing that much in your mouth!

銆孍at slowly. Here, have some tea and calm down for a moment.銆?br>
銆孏ulg, gulg,聽Pwhaa! Sorry, I panicked a bit.銆?br>
銆孴here鈥檚 still a lot of time left before lunch ends, there鈥檚 no reason to panic, is there?銆?br>
These houses have great influence over politics and industries and were permitted to use 鈥渕oon (tsuki)鈥?in their family name. The Kisaragi family is one of them, and that鈥檚 probably the reason why Kotone鈥檚 personality got twisted. For better or for worse, power has an effect on people. Well, it鈥檚 currently irrelevant to me though.

銆孻ou definitely don鈥檛 think so. You鈥檙e smiling, you know?銆?br>
銆學ell, it鈥檚 already too late. Serving cheap tea to a member of the great houses is already bad enough after all.銆?br>
銆孖鈥檝e always admired the life of common people. My mother was originally from there, you see.銆?br>
銆孒mn~n, one of those 鈥渢roubles of the wealthy鈥?, is it? Admiration isn鈥檛 bad, but life itself is tough. Mainly on the financial side of things鈥︺€?br>

Thanks to my diligent work during spring break, my savings has grown. Because of that, I was able to buy reference books and a bookshelf for them but even with that deduction, I still have some left. Naturally, I didn鈥檛 forget my studies, so I鈥檓 growing academically too.

Still, since there鈥檚 no telling what will happen in the future, I can鈥檛 use my savings carelessly. You can鈥檛 get c滩o滩c滩k滩y when it comes to saving.

銆孖s that so? I鈥檝e never left our home, so I don鈥檛 know much in that regard.銆?br>
銆孖t鈥檚 how things are. Your way of thinking changes when you鈥檝e actually done something compared to when you haven鈥檛.銆?br>
There鈥檚 a great saying 鈥淏uy hardships while you鈥檙e young鈥?2聽A piece of advice I would have given to the past Kotone.

銆孋ome to think of it, I haven鈥檛 gotten your name. Would you mind if I ask?銆?br>
銆孖鈥檓 Kisaragi Kotone. I鈥檓 from the twelve great families as well, so I suspect that you might have heard about me from the rumors.銆?br>
銆孍h, ah, yes. I didn鈥檛 realize that I was talking to someone from the Kisaragi family. Forgive me for acting overly familiar, Lady Kotone.銆?br>
銆孉dding 鈥渓ady鈥?isn鈥檛 particularly necessary. Besides, you should have heard of the other rumors about me, no?銆?br>
Currently, there are two kinds of rumors about me. One is about what Kotone has done last year with the other being about how the Kisaragi household cut ties with their daughter due to her high-handedness. One is true, the other being a mix of truth and falsehood.

In reality, it鈥檇 be more correct to say that I鈥檓 one step short of being disowned. Though you can say that I鈥檓 the reason why it stopped one step short.

銆孖鈥檝e heard about it but I didn鈥檛 think that it would be true.銆?br>
銆孖t isn鈥檛 quite true to be exact. There was no cutting of ties but it is true that I鈥檝e been kicked out of the house.銆?br>
銆孯eally? Um, is your current life tough?銆?br>
銆孖t isn鈥檛 anything particularly difficult once you get used to it. However, I wouldn鈥檛 recommend it to a well-off lady.銆?br>
銆孊ut Ms. Kotone, aren鈥檛 you one too?銆?br>
Come to think of it, I am. I was so used to the thrifty life, so I completely forgot. I鈥檝e been living the commoner life ever since, so it didn鈥檛 really bother me but I guess that might have been why I鈥檝e gotten weird stares in the classroom. A daughter from a rich family making her own lunch. Yeah, that does feel kinda off.

銆孖鈥檓 practically no different from the common folk, you see. Haggling with the greengrocer, working at a cafe and so.銆?br>
銆孶m, as I said, those aren鈥檛 things a well-off lady would do.銆?br>
銆孴hat is true. Which is exactly why I wouldn鈥檛 recommend it to a well-off lady.銆?br>
銆孨o, as I said, you鈥檙e a well-off lady too Ms. Kotone, how did you adjust so well?銆?br>
Rich girl or whoever you are; when in Rome, do as Romans do. Just because you鈥檙e from a wealthy family, if you continue on living without changing anything, you鈥檇 lose all of your funds in no time, so this is just the natural consequence. I wouldn鈥檛 recommend the same thing though.

銆孻ou鈥檙e much more industrious than what I鈥檝e heard. I admire that.銆?br>
Don鈥檛 look at me with those sparkly eyes. More weird rumors might spread again if other people see that. Even now, information about some big sister figure just started going around for some reason, you know? I鈥檓 formerly a male, so my manliness possibly seeping out wouldn鈥檛 be too strange, there鈥檚 nothing I can do about it.

銆孖f we don鈥檛 head out soon, we aren鈥檛 going to make it for the afternoon class. With that said, I will be excusing myself.銆?br>
Time to run. I don鈥檛 exactly know why, but I have a hunch that I聽really聽shouldn鈥檛 stay here for long.3

銆孶m, can I come here again!銆?br>
銆孫f course, I don鈥檛 own this place, so I don鈥檛 mind. It鈥檚 not that fun of a place, you know?銆?br>
The place is far from being lively, you know? Though on the other hand, it is a calmingly quiet place. That said, it鈥檚 not really dark and gloomy here, it鈥檚 got good exposure to the sun and if it gets too warm, I can just hide under the shade of the nearest tree.

The reason why this place isn鈥檛 populated with people is probably because of the popularity of the cafeteria. Still, it鈥檚 not the cafeteria itself that鈥檚 popular but actually the students eating at the second-floor terrace. Handsome guys, seriously amazing.

銆學ell then, see you again, Ms. Kotori.銆?br>
銆孴he honorifics aren鈥檛 necessary either. Please just call me Kotori, Ms. Kotone!銆?/div>Previous銆怱hortcut keys锛氣啇銆?/a>Catalog銆怱hortcut keys锛欵nter銆?/a>Next銆怱hortcut keys锛氣啋銆?/a>
