CHAPTER 95 – CHATTING WITH THE PAST AND- (PART 1)

Leaving the hot spring and heading to our room, things were still fine. However, we weren’t in a situation where we could enter our room. Why? It’s because students from other classes were gathered in front of our room. Thinking about it normally, it’s obvious what will happen when there’s a celebrity.

“Okay, what do we do?”
“I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but I don’t think there’s anything we can do.”

That’s exactly right. Harumi, Miyako, and I observe the situation while staying hidden. It’s because I’m pretty sure that we’ll be interrogated if they ever see us. As for who’s fault it is that we can’t enter our room, it’s definitely on those two. I need to think of a solution before those two arrive.

“In the first place, how do they know?”
“Someone probably saw you with them. Everyone has free time, which is probably how it got spread so fast.”

There’s not much to do in here, after all. So if there’s talk about a celebrity sighting, it’s only natural that people would want to have a look, huh. Still, there should be some other things to busy yourself with. Come to think of it, there aren’t any table tennis tables. I guess having a scenic view to enjoy isn’t enough for the youngsters.

“It’ll definitely be bad if Ayaka and Ran appear now.”
“Definitely. Letting trouble happen here probably won’t be good. We’ll probably be held responsible.”
“With that said, Kotone, retreat for a moment and meet up with Ayaka and Ran. We’ll walk around to waste some time.”

That’s all we can do, huh. Originally, I was going to meet with Kaori after this to chat and pass time together, but now I can’t do that either. Why is there always some trouble around me? If I was just born under some unlucky star, then I guess I can only give up.

“Well, I’ll be back later.”
“Come back before the lights out time. There’s a limit to how much we can trick the teachers.”
“I’ll keep it in mind.”

The teachers will be making rounds, after all. I think putting a pillow under my blanket should be enough. It’s not like they’ll check under the sheets after all. Though my old class was checked back in the past. The teachers back then were patrolling under the assumption that we’ll sneak out, you see.

“Ayaka, Ran, I’ll be intruding on your room.”
“My my, it seems like we’ve caused you trouble.”
“Absolutely.”

It’s good that I’ve met up with them, but the stares from the people are intense. As expected of a famous celebrity I guess, but some are probably directed towards me. After all, I’m not wearing a yukata, I’m wearing the academy jersey. I just feel embarrassed to wear it.

“That’s so tasteless, Koto-chan.”
“This is how I am, I can’t help it.”

It’s not like I wasn’t provided one. The embarrassment of showing skin just won over wearing it. Still, I’m not the only one wearing a jersey. There are other students wearing it. I’m not the only one who’s not enjoying the vibes.

“Nonetheless, the gap is amazing. I don’t remember you ever being as bashful back in the past.”
“That’s true. You were composed enough to just give a quick apology when I saw you half-naked.”
“Ran. Why have I never heard of that before? What exactly happened then?”

Looks like there’s some cracks growing in their partnership. Still, it’s not my fault. It’s Ran’s fault for being careless. Ayaka drawing near with a chilling smile is pretty intense to see. I was about to take a safe distance away, but Ran suddenly grabbed my arm to stop me.

“A certain someone just splashed water all over me, nothing more.”

The person in question is one of my old classmates. An idiot who loves playing pranks. Normally you wouldn’t expect to be splashed with water from outside the window while walking in the hallway. The idiot laughed at me with a bucket in hand, so I served the fool a full force drop kick.

“A shame that I didn’t see it. If I could go back in the past, I’d do anything to see it in person. Rather, Ran, how did you come across that moment?”
“I had work as class president. None of you would lend a hand, so I had to do most things, remember?”
“And I was generally involved with it.”

Ran and I actively took charge of dealing with odd jobs. No one would take initiative to help, so sometimes we would even forcefully capture helpers. Those that continue to resist, we had Nako to mediate, if I remember. The Empress was a trump card for us, after all.

“Now then, we’ve arrived, so can you talk normally now? It’s really weird for us to listen otherwise.”
“This is normal for the current me. It’s surprisingly not hard to switch between, though.”

It’s likely Kotone’s influence. Normally, masculine and feminine speech has many differences. However, perhaps due to Kotone switching between different ways of speaking herself, it influences and helps me adapt.

“Well now, what should we talk about? Originally, I wanted to hear about your daily life from your roommates.”
“Can’t I be the one to talk about that?”
“Hearing it from other people would be more interesting, don’t you think? You might hide some stuff, after all.”

Well naturally you won’t actively expose and humiliate yourself, after all. There are some who do that as a joke. In that person’s case, it’s not a joke, it’s just how the guy sees daily life, which is worse. It’s a customer from the cafe.

“You know the twelve families, right? I’m the eldest daughter in one of them. I’m not living extravagantly as a rich family’s daughter, though. I’m currently living alone and enjoying my freedom.”
“From my impression of the twelve families, I’m surprised that they allowed you to live alone.”
“I agree with Ran. Considering personal security, wouldn’t it be better to just normally live with the family?”
“The reason is that this body’s owner had already gone overboard to begin with. Because of that, she was basically kicked out of the family. Personally, I’m grateful since I got my current life.”
“Souji doesn’t really sit well with living extravagantly, after all. You do most things by yourself. Rather, it would probably stress you.”

That’s exactly the case. Previously, Misaki was in my room to help out, but she did everything including things I could do even with an injured leg, so I had too much free time. Despite her personality, she does her work properly. She does seem to consider me as her lady.

“I was part of the academy student council. Currently, my term is finished making me a regular student but my president’s vibe is pretty similar to our old classmates.”
“The student council during our time was pretty hard-headed. He was so focused on making countermeasures against us. Thanks to that, he bothered even the other students.”
“To begin with, it was the result of us fooling around. How many times do you have to be told until you get it?”
“Things have already passed, haven’t they?”

Well yeah, but for Ran and I who had to deal with them, scolding fools who don’t learn is maddening. Additionally, most of the student council president’s countermeasures weren’t effective. In the end, Ran, me, and the Empress were the best countermeasures.

“If the student council president from your academy was in our generation, things might have been even more interesting.”
“”Absolutely no.””

If our fools had Hadzuki with them, it would result in a hellscape that no one can put to stop. Even Ran who doesn’t know him knew by instinct. If things were a bit more worse, we would have no choice but to throw the white towel. When that happens, the problem becomes who should be responsible for them.

“Does the twelve families have a lot of interesting people?”
“Speaking from Kotone’s memories, there’s a lot of weirdos. I invited several of them to my apartment for a party and it resulted in a disaster.”
