The Way of The Dao

48 A Woman's Heart

Yun Mengxin looked directly into Ling Tian's eyes. She wanted to see through his soul. The eyes are the gates of the soul, so she would get an overview of its interior. But she was surprised when she only saw calm and serenity in him. There was no sign of impurity or evil in his eyes.

She said gently with gratitude in her voice, "Really, thank you so much for helping me. You don't know what it means to me to be able to lead a quiet life and rest in peace... if there is anything I can really help you with, you can tell me, I will do everything in my hands." She said this by slightly biting her lower lip.

Since she was a child, her beauty drove all women away due of envy, while men only saw her for it.

She only had a few friends when she was at the academy for martial artists at a very young age.

In time, she grew up and her beauty shone even more, dazzling everywhere she went.

She would be the envy and desire of many people wherever she went.

Her talent was enviable too, advancing some ranks faster than others.

But what no one knew was that, ever since she was a child, she always suffered from the cold that assailed her body at any moment.

There were even times when she would leave the academy to return home and no one would see her in her condition.

She continued to hold on with all her willpower.

In time, her blossoming beauty from a young age caught the attention of a young man, the young master of the Ming family, Ming Zeng.

Ming Zeng was almost always behind her and he wanted her to marry him.

She obviously rejected him.

She had seen the lust, the lasciviousness, the evil in his ugly, fierce eyes.

She didn't like him or have feelings for him.

Since she had almost no relations with many people, she became practically a lone wolf.

Her coldness and loneliness drove away almost everyone who tried to get close to her.

Only a few women were able to form a friendship with her.

That bastard Ming Zeng was bothering her for a long time, even using his Ming family to force her family to accept the proposal of marriage between them.

Her father, has always tried to take her opinion into account, but some elders think better that she married the young master of the Ming family, so they would have a connection with that family and become more powerful. They would have more resources to improve their martial arts powers.

She tried to improve her martial arts powers, but some elders prevented her from taking the elixirs with the excuse that they were the only ones and that they still had to consider who would be the best choice, even though she was the young miss of the Yun family.

Without any other choice, she decided to train on her own without the help of anyone, even though the cold continued to torture her.

She always searched for the origin of her symptoms, to see if she could find the disease her body was suffering from, but she never found anything.

During the day, she always trained and absorbed the tiny energies of the air in order to advance her martial arts power, while at night she would go out to face the demonic beasts and have experience in battle.

She wanted to be stronger, so she would try her best to achieve this.

When she least expected it, a light that illuminated her life and gave her hope appeared in front of her.

A very handsome and quiet young man appeared in her path, in the middle of the night with the light of the full moon.

She thought that this young man was just another man who wanted to propose marriage or wanted to harass her, therefore she did not listen to him and began to walk away.

"You want to get stronger to control your own life, don't you?"

That phrase said by that young man made her stop and stunned at that moment.

How did he know that, she really wanted to be strong to control her own life?

She couldn't help but turn to him coldly, maybe he was a stalker or someone who wanted something from her too.

She saw his black pearly eyes and they seemed as calm and clean as the surface of a pure spring.

There was not a touch of lust or desire shown by those disgusting men who always looked at her body.

What surprised her was that in her eyes one could find a slight indifference with a trace of hidden vicissitudes and despondency together with an experienced and somewhat tired look which one should not find in someone of his age but in an old man, but this only added a trace of calmness and maturity. The fascinating charm of his eyes could make her lose herself in the background.

She even noticed a bit of pity and sadness in his eyes, as if he understood her pain.

He asked her to fight a demonic beast, which she did without letting down her guard against him.

She still did not trust him.

They were just strangers who met in the middle of the night.

That young man began to explain to her about her illness, mentioning exactly the same symptoms she was exhibiting.

He seemed to know about her illness!

"With those conditions in your body, you couldn't live more than 30 years."

She got a shock when she heard that.

Her eyes filled with sadness and helplessness, while a tear threatened to well up in her eyes. She couldn't help but clench her fists. Even her coldness in front of others vanished completely.

"I can help you with that."

Immediately, that young man pulled her out of the endless abyss.

Although she was still on alert in case he wanted to ask her for something.

Fortunately, he didn't ask her for anything, he didn't even show any hint of anything.

She was sure that if it were any other man, they would ask something unthinkable without hesitation.

But that young man, he just smiled softly without asking, while he slayed that demon beast in the Legend rank and walked away, reminding her to take the medicine he had made for her.

She could not help but feel her heart beating incessantly. Her feelings were like a hurricane inside her.

That man who pulled her out of the pit of despair and the abyss of pain that consumed her day after day would be special to her.

He was the first man to move her heart by helping her selflessly, therefore she could not help but see him as different from all the others and take an interest in him. She would be grateful to him for life.

Seeing his handsome face and his weak smile, she said softly again, "If there is anything you need, you can tell me. I'll even give you whatever you want..."

Ling Tian observed that she behaved shyly as a child in her youth. He could not help but look closely at her face.

Badump!

Her long black hair fluttered in the night air, while the moonlight illuminated her perfect beautiful face and her skin delicately like the most perfect and pure jade in the world. Her bright eyes that looked like a sea of stars from the galaxy. Her perfect, kissable, cherry-colored lips. She really was a perfect Goddess.

A true immortal fairy of the night.

The Ice Goddess.

The Goddess of Winter.

Gulp

He remembered what Tang Jingtian said:

"So do you have a woman you like now?"

He had to admit that he had never seen a more beautiful, perfect woman in his entire life. Only a few women he knew could keep up with her. The beauties of those women were truly transcendent.

Even those fairies in the immortal world who claimed to be beautiful were losing out to her.

Ling Tian came out of his dazed state as he released a wry smile inside. He had never thought that he would be interested in any woman again after what he had experienced before.

Showing a quiet smile on his face, he said, "Don't worry, I helped you without expecting anything in return. You don't have to pay me anything."

A disappointment briefly crossed her eyes before she nodded in recognition.

Ling Tian managed to see this, but said nothing. He was a mess inside, too.

Ling Tian frowned and turned quickly to look in one direction as he said: "Continue with the same instructions as I told you, tomorrow we'll meet again... ah! Please don't mention my name in front of the others, it's a bit complicated to explain."

Ling Tian started walking deep into the forest, in the opposite direction from Star City.

Yun Mengxin nodded briefly while watching Ling Tian's behavior. Is he not serious now?

Despite that she was feeling sad for no apparent reason, she decided to return home, hoping to find Ling Tian again tomorrow.

Ling Tian walked several yards before drawing and mounting his sword and hurtling toward the sky quickly as he launched his spiritual sense.

A serious expression could be seen on his face.
