The Wild Man Of Pokemon

Chapter 11 - First Raid

Its time.

Tens months of grueling, mind numbing training and I am finally ready to go back hunting. My weapons and armor are in desperate need of upgrading, and I crave meat.

Berries are nice and all, but nothing beats the salivating taste of protein.

Climbing out of the river in which I bathed, I put on my armor. The Oddish clothes were tight, the Venipede shoulder guard was cramped, and the Plusle-Minun vambraces stretched tightly on my wrists. Despite my best efforts, everything was now small and deteriorating fast.

If I don't make new armor soon, I'll be back to wearing leaves. Considering how long I have been here, its not surprising

From my calculations, I have been in this world for over a year and two months. I arrived around early spring, just as the climate was getting hot. Summer was an okay season and Fall was nice and cool. Winter, coincidentally, was actual torture. I used to prefer colder climates, but since my senses have been dialed up, I felt like a block of ice all winter.

Da and Am tried sharing body warmth; however, they quickly grew fed up with me hugging them to death.

I digress.

Today was the day. Da, Honedge, and I had big plans for our hunt. During these ten months, I seriously thought on what weapon I wanted and what materials I needed to make it.

Returning to the den, I found Da and Honedge waiting in anticipation.

'Ready to go?' I ask.

They nod. Picking up a chair sized, leaf wrapped package we left.

The forest was silent as we headed to our destination. Over an hour later, we stop and set the battlefield. Da created a platform out of the ground with psychic. It was ten feet high and was wide enough to build a campsite.

Honedge floated around me, patiently awaiting the battle before us. I had my club at the ready, petting it like a dying dog.

'Do it.' I tell Da.

Green and gold light covered Honedge and I. While Da did master protect, it was hard to maintain for long periods of time on moving targets. Light screen and reflect; however, were meant to be used in scenarios like this.

Raising his hand, Da charged a sphere of psychic energy. Pulling back, he launched it into the sky. A shrill cry followed. At its peak, the orb exploded. Purple and pink sparks flew, followed by a loud bang.

The bait was set.

Honedge and I walked around the pillar waiting for our prey. Listening for movement, we waited as the sun rose to its zenith.

Some time later, A small skittering was heard about thirty feet away. First it was one, then it was three. By a minutes time, we had twenty of the things surrounding us.

It was poetic justice. For months at a time, Da, Honedge, and I strategized how to complete our goals. We talked to local Pokemon, we scouted some of his territory, we researched him in every way possible. In conclusion, Toxicroak had to go.

He and his goons control this mountain with an iron fist. Peaceful Pokemon fear the night when he will come for them, they actively destroy the forest, and they reward cruelty. If he was not stopped, the mountain will fall.

So it was only right that we start with one of his greatest supporters. Today, we plan to hit him hard, right in the genitals. What better way then to slaughter a hoard Venipede in their own territory?

We stare at each other for a moment. My blood pumping, the air tense, and a small smile graced my five year old face.

The wind blew. All was still. My smile grew.

The Venipede struck first. Five belched streams of violet sludge honed in on us, only for it to be blocked by an invisible wall.

Seeing their first attack didn't work, the rest charged in tails glowing. Honedge gained first blood. In a flash, he bisected five of the little buggers. Before they hit the ground, a blue light enveloped them dragging them to the pillar. Best not to damage my new materials in the conflict.

Having a quarter of their forces killed in a second raised their guard. No doubt one or two had already left to get reinforcements. The more the merrier.

Thinking I would be easier to handle, three of them charged at me. Swinging my club around, I bat them together. It only killed the first one, but the other two had their head squashed a moment later. Ten months of hard training does wonders for the body.

Another three charged at my blind spot; however, my reception field saw them coming. Dodging to the side, their attacks crash into the ground. With a quick swing of my club and three more bodies joined the pile.

What many novels and anime failed to portray was that a strong blow to the head will at the very least incapacitate an enemy. Bug types are the same. I don't have to break their shells, just jiggle around their brains a bit and the fat lady sings.

Breathing hard, I look to the surrounding group of Pokemon. Their number had already refilled. Smiling, which I realized was the first sign of me becoming a battle junkie, I thrash the attacking defenders.

Poisonous body fluids flew in the air like mist. Honedge slashing Venipede left and right, Da was dealing with the long range attackers and collecting bodies, I was foolishly dancing around, smiting my foes.

A true horror was born.

None could get close as I would detect them in my field. I trained with the lightening quick sword for months on end. Compared to him, these guys were moving in slow motion. The numbers were getting hard to deal with. Currently, I was battling four opponents and they did get a few quick attacks in.

Reflect negated a lot of the damage, but it still stung.

The trouble I faced was that I needed to get a head shot to truly take them out, otherwise they could still attack me. It was exhausting. Adrenaline pounding, arms aching. The only consolation was the exhilaration I felt.

The movement, the feedback. It was all extremely cathartic. Perhaps even addicting.

Soon, another three had been taken down. Their screeches fell on deaf ears as I faced the next group. The sound of grinding trees was the only thing to give me pause.

A purple whir collided with a green barrier in front of me.

The trap was sprung.

Swinging my club as the protect faded, I hit the violet beast. Essentially, it was a purple tire with murdery death spikes and it was heavy.

Whirlipede.

Hearing more buzzing sounds, I knew Honedge was dealing with them as well. Glancing at Da, he nodded. We continued the fight even further. The rolling bug was giving me problems. It was barely faster then me and any strike I gave just bounced right off.

The living buzz saw even grazed me several times. If the numbing sensation was anything to go by, those blades were venomous.

Honedge screeched, signaling that he had at least three Whirlipede. Lucky him.

Batting the Whirlipede away, I called, 'Now!'

A blue cloud exploded out from the pillar and swirled out like a hurricane. It danced around me, like a forlorn lover. A truly gratifying experience.

Looking out at my opponents, I saw them drop like flies. It was glorious. While I may have gotten stronger, I did not have infinite stamina and neither did my co-conspirators. To maximize our gains, we lured all these bugs into a trap.

The plan was to invade on Venipede territory and lure in the large game. While Honedge and Da could handle Whirlipede easily, and I could hold my own against them, we didn't want the bigger, nastier Scolipede to come and completely destroy us. From their, we waited until we had a large enough group and then we used our trump card.

Not even a week has gone by when we raided the local Oddish territory. Turns out, all I had to do was ask for some sleep powder and they just piled it up. Apparently, Oddish didn't like the new management. So now I have in infinite supply of sleep powder. That supply was currently being used in a potent manor.

Da nearly choked and died when I suggested him creating a powder cloud with psychic. The sheer genius behind the idea was humbling.

For a one hundred and fifty foot radius circle, everything was covered in sleep powder. Da really had to strain himself in keeping the stuff off of me and Honedge. Though having to do clean up by himself was plenty enough motivation.

Da finally raised the cloud, letting it billow out naturally in the wind. We then realized the true extent of our carnage.

Venipede littered the ground like a rug and a total of ten, ten Whirlipede were slumped over. Jumping in delight, I said, 'We did it! Take that stupid toad.' I dabbed.

Honedge smiled with pride. It was not everyday that a Pokemon could take down a hoard of Venipede.

'Yes we did.' Da exclaimed looking down from the tower.

'Alright, we have to be fast. I doubt that is the end of them.' While the plan was a success, we still had to get out of enemy territory.

'Grab everything. Not one is to be left.' I instructed.

Grabbing a pair of bodies, I carry them into a pile. Da was the real MVP today, he carried a vast majority of the 'materials' into a pile with psychic. Pulling a net from the same package as the dust, we tie them all together. The net was also coated in sleep powder so it should help mollify any early risers.

With that all done, Da picked us up and carried us to home. From there, it was a simple matter to kill off the rest and count the spoils of war.

..............................…..

"Whew. What a haul." I spoke aloud to my family. Over the year, we truly bonded like a family would. Da was the dad and Honedge my best friend. Am ruled like any good mother should and Nincada was the little brother we doted on.

Anyway, I looked at the pile of disassembled bodies. There were so many, we had to clear out a bit of the forest to fit them all.

'We ended up with seventy-five Venipede and a whopping ten Whirlipede.' The tire like suckers were taller then me and Da and Honedge were not happy with what the shells did to their respective cutting apparatus.

Currently, they were on the ground, brain fried from all the work. The only reason I am still functioning was that I was running on excitement. I now had enough materials to last for months. Armor for days, poison for traps, and enough pointy bits for several weapons. Already, I had plans to outfit all of us.

Nodding, I start storing the loot. While Mr. Hyde Thief hasn't made a return visit, I was leaving nothing to chance. Everything was wrapped in leaves or cocoons of thread that Nincada and I have been saving up.

After that, I'm putting them in a room hidden behind a wall of rocks. Nincada and I made it by laying branches in a grid before piling on the rocks with sticky threads to bind it. To the untrained eye, it looked like a cave in happened, while in reality, it was big enough for me to store and work the materials.

Also, we set some fail safes in case someone sees through the disguise.

Stashing everything away, I then lay down. I was sore, but I was ecstatic at our haul.

..............................…

The next day s.u.c.k.e.d. Everything hurt. Limbs, guts, muscles I didn't even know I had, all screamed in protest at the slightest movement. In fact, I just slept the day away, not moving an inch. I am pretty sure Da and Honedge were in a similar situation if the collective groaning was any indication.

Am huffed, muttering something about weak men and their whiny tendencies.

The day after that, I force myself up. I had weapons to make and all the time in the world to do it. First, I started with the armor. Nincada climbed on my shoulder to dispense the string needed, while Am helped cutting them to size.

The shoulder guards were the fastest to be finished. I just copied the design from the last one I made, though I did tweak the design.

Instead of Venipede plates, I used the Whirlipede for its added hardness. The insides were lined with Oddish skin. To date, it was the softest, most flexible material I had. Next, I connected a c.h.e.s.t plate. It was a solid plate from the Pokemon and did not need much alteration.

To protect my intestines, I strung up some Venipede under exoskeleton. It allowed me to bend over, unlike regular plate armor. I love nature and its already prefabricated armor pieces.

The legs were a hybrid between Venipede and Whirlipede shells. My t.h.i.g.hs and calves were protected by latter, while the rest was the flexible former. I could walk, bend over, crouch down, almost freely. For shoes, lined two Venipede shell with some left over Sentret leather. I had made it soft and flexible enough to where it didn't get in the way.

The entire armor set took a week and a half to finish, but it was so worth every minute spent.

Moving onto my weapon, I laugh at the true horror I was soon to unleash.
