The Wizard’s Love Spell

Chapter 12 - Quidditch (2-Trying Out)

It took a bit of searching but she found them out on the courtyard.

Philip was messing with a pen, doing.... who knows what. Mira was talking him, but Isabella was unsure of what they were saying. Something about garden gnomes...?

"Hey! Isabella!" Jane waved her over.

"Hi" She replied as she sat down next to her.

"So how'd it go with Quidditch?" She asked.

"I'm trying out tomorrow morning at 7."

"That's good! I wish you luck." jane said "Now, tell me what does Beauxbatons look like?"

"It's a grand, magnificent chateau, surrounded by many gardens, there's a park and in the very center, there's a Fountain, named after Nicolas and Perenelle Flamel. They funded part of the school with Alchemist gold." Isabella ventured off, describing her dorms, their customs and what not. Jane was very attentive and at some point Mira started listening in.

At around one o'clock, a slumped figure approached them. It was Michelle. She yawned.

"Hey guys. (Another yawn) good morning."

"Mornin'" everyone replied.

Isabella's eyes widened. Had she just gotten up? Darn, she wished she could sleep as long as long as Michelle.

After around another hour they decided to get up and walk around the school grounds. The day seemed to go by fast. All that time they talked and now it was suddenly time for dinner.

Mira and Isabella met up with Adam there. They had a light conversation over dinner. Isabella had been eyeing that chocolate cake topped with some vanilla ice cream for a while. Nothing could snatch her attention away from that cake when she finally got it.

That night, as Adam and Mira stayed in the common room, Isabella went to sleep early.

"I need to be rested for tomorrow morning. Night y'all." She told them.

She was indeed tired though. So she fell asleep quickly.

The next morning she woke up at six am, we'll rested and ready for the day's activities. Isabella had dug out her broom (which had been at the bottom of her trunk). Her broom was last year's model. It was quite fast and steady. She preferred it over the newer model. She couldn't do as many maneuvers on the newest model as she could on her trusty old one.

She was up and ready by six thirty. Mary had given her a uniform last night so she was all set. She decided to head down to breakfast early. James was the only one from the team who was already there. She sat across from him.

"Hey." She said as she set her broom down next to her.

"Oh hi. I'm surprised... I honestly thought you'd be the last to join us." He replied. His voice was very kind. And his British accent seemed thicker than most of the other students.

"I like to be early."

"I see.." He ran a hand through his hair.

"Are you usually the first one up?"

"Yeah. The others will probably be here around six fifty."

"Alright then..." Isabella decided a light breakfast would be best. So she drank a cup of apple juice, and ate a piece of toast with some strawberry jam.

"Wanna go out to the field? We can start early." James suggested.

"Yeah, let's go." She picked up her broom and followed him.

The Quidditch field was impressive. It was a large, oval shaped field with three hooped goal posts at the end of each side of the field. The goal of the game was to get the quaffle (the main ball) through one of the opposite team's hoops. The Keeper guards the hoops.

The Chasers score.

The beaters keep the bludgers away from their teammates. Bludgers are the the balls that fly around during the game trying to knock people off their brooms, or at least try to disorient them so the opposite team can steal the ball. It can be quite a dangerous game. But there hadn't any deaths in the past few centuries. Only broken bones.

The Seeker has the most important job though. The Seeker catches the Golden Snitch to end the game. The team whose Seeker catches the Snitch is awarded 150 points. The golden snitch is a tiny ball with fluttering wings that randomly flies around during the match. Isabella's job (if the team accepts her) would be to catch the snitch.

James got out a large trunk which held all the balls. Isabella helped him carry it out onto the field.

"Thanks Isabella."

"De rien, James. That's French for you're welcome by the way."

"Call me Jace." He said looking straight at her.

"Oh, right." She replied. She felt her face turn a bit warm but tried to ignore. Was it hot out here?

"There you two are!" It was Darcy. Behind her the rest of the team followed. There were also some extra players behind him.

Mira followed the team too. She approached Isabella.

"I wish you luck. And don't go easy on them." She winked and left.

Isabella gazed up, in the stands, there were people scattered throughout. Ravenclaws made up the majority but there were students from other houses there too.

"There's usually people here watching, mostly because there's nothing else to do on Sundays."

"Let's get started?" Adam said, mounting his broom and rising up into the sky. The others followed, Darcy carrying the quaffle.

"Let's do this." Isabella whispered to herself as she rose to the air following behind them.
