'Why am I chasing after it?... It just pisses me off! I don't need a reason!' Eric thought, baring his teeth as he continued to chase after the Pokemon down a busy street. The street had way too many things going on at once, and it was perfect for the thief as it was small and agile.

People were quite spooked once they felt something slip through their legs, almost like a slippery eel. The thief was hoping it would lose its pursuer in the crowd of people, but no matter where it went, Eric was right behind it.

And then it ran out of people to hid underneath.

"You're mine!" Eric shouted, leaping towards the little thief with his arms stretched out to catch it

*Bang*

But he was too slow!

Eric crashed into a trashcan, knocking its contents all over the pavement.

Luckily the owner wasn't around...

The thief couldn't help but to stop and laugh at Eric's misfortune, revealing more of its figure, which was quite furry.

"You think it's funny?!" Eric immediately jumped to his feet, scaring the little thief into running away faster. The little fuzzball started to make it harder for Eric as it changed directions several times, trying to shake him off, but somehow Eric was still right behind it.

Suddenly, the little thief made a sharp turn toward an alleyway to lose Eric, but that would be a mistake!

"Nowhere to run now... Eevee!" Eric shouted as he knew what Pokemon stole his food.

An Eevee!

"But what's one doing here?" Eric thought out loud, dodging trash cans and debris from who knows where until Eevee reached a dead end.

[Eeeve...] Eevee turned around and immediately backed up against a wall. It knew that it was caught, but it wouldn't let its pursuer have the satisfaction of getting his food back. So it ate it right then and there, finishing the whole thing in a matter of seconds before grinning at Eric with its messy face.

"You brave little bastard," Eric said as he finally cornered the little thing. Eevee was, of course, short, but the current state of its fur ruined its cuteness. Filthy, it was incredibly filthy and looked as if it had a scrap or two with other city pokemon. However, its eyes were the strangest thing as they were golden-brown and almost looked luminescent in the dark alleyway.

Seeing the culprit made Eric feel a bit guilty as he planned on punishing it, but it looked punished enough already. "Not sure why, but somehow I want you on my team."

[Eevee?...?!] Eevee didn't even know what to think before it was smacked in the head with a Pokeball.

The Pokeball would wiggle for quite sometime before the sound of a successful capture was heard.

*Ding! 500 exp gained from catching Altered Eevee! Lvl up!*

*Ding! +1 Luck for catching an unknown Pokemon*

"Altered?" Eric quickly picked up the Pokeball before walking out of the alleyway. "I think I'll turn in at a hotel, maybe I can get something to eat there before I look at the menu." He said after glancing at the darkening sky.

" Who the hell knocked over the trash can!!" A voice shouted, but the culprit was already far away.

---------

Eric checked in at a hotel called Vermillion Hotel. 'How original,' He thought as he was showed to his room.

The room was fairly good as it was large enough to hold a full kitchen, bathroom, and a queen-sized bed. The furniture wasn't that high quality, but everything was clean and neat. "Not bad for a place worth 4,000 a night. Now let's see... I'll think a bath should come first." Eric said, locking the room door behind him and throwing his bag onto the bed. He then went into the bathroom to run a bath instead of a shower.

"Alright, come on out, Eevee," Eric said as he called out Eevee from its Pokeball.

[Eevee!!!??] Eevee was surprised by its surroundings, but it was even more so when it was thrown into a bathtub full of warm water.

"Hehe, that was punishment." Eric chuckled as he started to wash Eevee with a bar of soap and a sponge. He wanted to be gentle at first, but a lot of Eevee's fur was clumped together.

[Eevee...] Eevee enjoyed the feeling of being cleaned as it lets out a soft mewl. It remembered a time where it was with its past trainer. Will it be abandoned again after becoming close to its new trainer?

No, don't become close...

He'll leave too once he knows...

"You're awfully quiet, you know? I thought you'd make more of a fuss."

[Eevee...] Eevee mewled again, turning its head away from its new trainer.

Eric wryly smiled and continued to wash Eevee for a few more minutes before taking it out to dry it with a nearby hairdryer.

*Poof*

All of Eevee's fur suddenly became puffy, which made it look quite comical and cute at the same time.

Eric chuckled at the sight and took a comb to fix Eevee's fur, gently sliding through it as if he's done this kind of thing hundreds of times.' I mean, I have, right?... Yeah, of course, you have! Remember you... Haha! Nevermind...' He quickly shook away the oncoming dark thoughts and continued to focus on Eevee.

Soon after, Eric was done with Eevee and threw it onto the bed. "Now it's my turn. Just sit tight." He said as he prepared to take a shower.

[Eevee...] Eevee stood there on the bed without moving a single muscle and stared in the direction of its trainer.

Feel nothing... Do nothing...

Eventually, Eric would come out of the shower with a refreshed look with a towel wrapped around his lower body. "Now, I wonder what we can order for this room." He smiled as he hopped onto the bed, and used the phone on the nightstand to call for food.

[Eevee?...] Eevee wondered why it felt the need to like its trainer even though it was trying so hard to keep its feelings in check.

"Oh yeah, meet my other Pokemon!" Eric finished ordering and went to his belt to grab his Pokeballs to release everyone. They were small enough to all fit in the room, so he figured it to be ok.

[Pikachu!][Char!] [Pichaaa!] Pidgeotto, Pikachu, and Charmander were happy to be outside of their Pokeballs. However, Pikachu was even happier because of the time Eric kept it out. It wondered why he wasn't doing that anymore.

[Pika?] Pikachu was the first to notice the new Pokemon and jumped up on the bed to see Eevee.

"Yeah, that's Eevee. I just caught it not too long ago. Oh yeah..." Eric suddenly remembered that the system called Eevee altered and pulled out his Pokedex to look at his menu.

"Huh...This hasn't happened before? Does that mean the system can't gauge the stats of this Eevee?" Eric said, stroking Eevee's head as he looked at its clipped ear. "What happened to you, little guy?"

[Eevee...] Eevee shook its head and moved away from him.

"What do you think, Pikachu?"

[Pikaa...?] Pikachu shrugged before climbing up on its trainer's shoulders. It missed the feeling of being tall.

"Hmm..."

--------- Next Day

Eric couldn't figure out what to do with Eevee and decided that he would spend his day training at the Training Center to level up his Pokemon.

Eric was going to quickly defeat Lt.Surge if he was anything like the anime version, but the appearance of his nephew Finn made him doubt himself. 'What if Lt.Surge isn't some blockhead who only used a Raichu? I should train more until I feel confident again.'

Soon, Eric would reach the Training Center, and he noticed to very back of it was a personal gym for trainers and Pokemon to use.

'Hmm...Maybe I should try it out and see what I could really do.' Eric thought about the stats the system gave him and figured he should find out how strong he really was by trying out the equipment.

Big mistake!

"What the? Who broke the handle to this? A trainer complained as he tried to use a piece of equipment.

" Hey! This one is broken too!"

"Are you kidding me?! Who's so heavy that they break the seat?! Goddamn Snorlax!"

(A/N: No, this wasn't going to wow the crowd like a certain bald head hero. Haha)

Eric kept his head down and slipped out of the gym before they find other pieces of equipment broken. He didn't mean to break them, but whenever he tried using his strength, he would break something. The thought of him breaking anything he touched scared him, but then he realized he hadn't done anything like that until now.

'Could there be some kind of limiter that makes it able for me to do normal tasks? Come on, system! Help me out here!' Eric sighed as he stepped up to one of the empty battlefields and waited to battle. A few would recognize him from yesterday and quickly crowed around to watch his battles.

Eric ended up battling several trainers back to back, with most of them being girls that had ulterior motives. "Hahaha...Sorry, but I have a girlfriend, and she's waiting for me outside. Bye!"

The girls immediately gave up after Eric made that comment, but one of them, in particular, said that they could keep a secret. She'd look at him as if he was a piece of meat, and licked her lips while waiting for his answer.

"Hehehe..." Eric awkwardly laughed before dashing out of the Training Center with his fastest speed! 'Run! And don't look back!'

'Now what am I going to do about that?... I wish my system could tell me more about Eevee's situation...' Eric thought as he walked back towards the Vermillion Hotel. He figured he stay there because it was more comfortable than a room at a Pokemon Center.

"Hey, kid! Have you seen a strange Eevee around?" A bulky guy twice the size of Eric suddenly appeared in front of him, blocking his way to the hotel.

Usually, Eric wouldn't judge anyone by their looks, but something about the guy's overly friendly face was sending him danger signals.

"I-"

"You don't have to say anything... We already know." The bulky guy said, cracking his knuckles just as several rough-looking thugs appeared behind him.
