Chapter 97: I Won't Make Things Difficult For You

After Qi Yan finished speaking, she grabbed the person around the waist and pressed her against the wall, kissing her passionately.

There was no cream chocolate-flavored lipstick today. Her lips were soft, sweet, and slightly swollen from being kissed and sucked on multiple times. She exhaled short breaths, each one landing on her face. She closed her eyes, enjoying the moment of pleasure.

Lu Zhiqiao let out a muffled groan, unconsciously gripping her shoulders, unable to resist.

Perhaps she liked it too.

She likes the way Yan Yan only shows her thoughts to her. She likes how Yan Yan's mouth only teases her. She likes how Yan Yan only gives her accommodation and love. She likes how Yan Yan's eyes are full of her.

It is a feeling of being surrounded by love.

 "Qiao—"

Qi Yan finally released her lips, half-closing her eyelids, her gaze blurred as she looked at her. "I really... think of you every day. I think of you when I eat, when I drink water, when I sleep, when I do anything. Even though you are already by my side, I still feel it's not enough..."

As Lu Zhiqiao said, Qi Yan's mind is filled with all sorts of random thoughts, but all these "random things" revolve around Lu Zhiqiao.

That's how it is during the honeymoon phase. Constantly wanting to stick together, playfully teasing each other, restless hands, everything said and done is only related to each other. Their eyes and hearts can only accommodate each other. However, the honeymoon phase is not permanent. When the passion cools down, the mundane life continues.

She never worries about life becoming dull. She does what needs to be done in each phase, enjoying it fully, without dwelling on things that haven't happened yet.

"I feel the same way," Lu Zhiqiao whispered.

"Wouldn't you find me annoying? Fed up with being around me?"

"No."

"Really?" Qi Yan raised an eyebrow.

Lu Zhiqiao curved her lips, cupping her face with both hands, and gently pecked her lips. "I like it when you cling to me," she said, then kissed her again, leaning close to her ear and lowering her voice. "And it can only be me."

The black tear mole became enticing as her emotions stirred, appearing even more captivating. Her face blushed with shyness. Qi Yan gazed at her, with eyes filled with intoxication. She lightly kissed her soft lips, teasing and lingering for more.

After a while of embracing and kissing, Lu Zhiqiao remembered that she came to exercise. She gently pushed her away and said, "Alright, I'll change my clothes."

Qi Yan understood and stopped teasing her. She took out a couple's sportswear from her bag and helped her change.

At first, Lu Zhiqiao blushed and resisted a little, but she couldn't resist Qi Yan's gentle and persuasive words. She compromised and let her help her change. She had initially thought it would ignite a passionate fire, but she underestimated Qi Yan's self-control. She could be mischievous like a hooligan at times, yet serious and earnest at other times, which delighted her greatly.

After changing clothes, Qi Yan didn't immediately make Lu Zhiqiao start exercising. Instead, she took her around the gym, showing her various equipment and demonstrating their usage.

Then they warmed up.

Considering Lu Zhiqiao's busy work schedule, with only occasional weekends available for exercise, Qi Yan didn't impose too many requirements. She just wanted her to get some movement and let her body adapt gradually.

As someone who hadn't exercised regularly for a long time, Lu Zhiqiao easily grew tired. After spending some time on the elliptical machine, she felt herself getting sleepy. Her mind went blank, and she sat down without moving, eventually dozing off. It was only when Qi Yan approached, sweating from her own workout, that she noticed Lu Zhiqiao had fallen asleep.

Lu Zhiqiao leaned against the wall, extending her arms with slender fingers slightly curled. Her eyelids were half-closed. Qi Yan quietly approached, bending down and extending her index finger to gently tickle her palm.

She shuddered and jerked awake, her hand suddenly curling up as she opened her eyes.

"Tired?" Qi Yan embraced her shoulder.

Lu Zhiqiao was momentarily taken aback, but then nodded.

"Let's go back and change clothes,"

"Mm."

Qi Yan helped her up and mischievously tickled her palm again. Lu Zhiqiao tightened her grip and gave her a playful glare. They entered the changing room one after the other. This time, Lu Zhiqiao didn't shy away or feel embarrassed. She confidently changed her clothes in front of Qi Yan without overthinking or worrying.

After all, they had already seen everything there was to see, and who knew how many more times they would see each other like this.

"By the way," Qi Yan finished changing and picked up her bag, "Niu Niu mentioned that she wants to raise a cat."

As they walked out together, Lu Zhiqiao took the initiative to hold Qi Yan's hand. Taken aback by the words, she  responded calmly, "Let's raise one, what breed of cat?"

Her unexpectedly enthusiastic response caught Qi Yan off guard, and she widened her eyes in surprise. "Aren't you worried that she won't be able to take care of it properly?"

Given Lu Zhiqiao's personality, she always had to worry and be on edge about whatever her daughter does. She would give verbal admonishments for minor things and even intervene directly for more serious matters. Even if she didn't get directly involved, she would still nag and express concerns. It was rare for her to be so straightforward.

"I don't know if she can take care of it since she has never had one before," Lu Zhiqiao smiled gently and replied, "Let her give it a try. Taking care of a small animal can teach her a lot of things."

"Are you really not worried at all?" Qi Yan couldn't believe it.

As they reached the corner of the staircase, Lu Zhiqiao stopped and turned her head to look out the window. Fluffy clouds floated in the sky, as blue as a lake. The cotton-like clouds drifted on the surface of the water, creating a serene and tranquil atmosphere. A bird fluttered its wings and flew past, landing on the rooftop of a nearby building.

She suddenly sighed. "There are too many things to worry about, it never ends. If I control everything, wouldn't it be like binding both my child and myself? I don't want to be so burdened anymore. I want to live my own life."

She always kept that phrase in mind: relationships between people are like holding sand. Whether it's family, friendship, or love, the tighter you grasp, the faster it slips away. By loosening her grip on her daughter to some extent, she was also freeing herself. Initially, she thought it would be difficult to achieve, but as she tried, she realized that everything falls into place naturally.

"Besides, I don't want to consider my child as the sole reason for my existence anymore," Lu Zhiqiao continued. After speaking those words, she withdrew her gaze, her eyes curved like a crescent moon, shimmering with a hint of autumn water.

To completely let go of everything and have no worries is impossible. However, in her heart, the weight of trust in Qi Yan and their future far outweighed any concerns. She had gained confidence and security, allowing her to approach any choices with a sense of openness.

Encountering a wonderful person and embarking on a beautiful relationship naturally led to daydreams and fantasies. This transformation went unnoticed until she snapped back to reality, realizing that it had become ingrained in her very being.

The past troubles couldn't be resolved with a few comforting words from others, but she had figured it out on her own. There was still a long road ahead, and she was prepared for it.

Qi Yan paused, and in her amber-colored eyes, she saw her gentle smile. Her heart stirred, and she reached out to embrace her. "Wife, I'm so happy that you think of me this way."

"Because of you," whispered Lu Zhiqiao as she closed her eyes, allowing herself to melt into Qi Yan's embrace.

There was a hint of sweat on Qi Yan's body, and she couldn't tell if it was her peculiar preference or something else, but she found it strangely pleasant. It was a natural scent, untouched by any artificial ingredients, and it captivated her deeply. Unable to resist, she took a gentle sniff.

Qi Yan tilted her head and kissed Lu Zhiqiao's ear, feeling a mix of emotions and a burning passion within her heart.

To love someone is to accept them completely, to witness their most beautiful moments as well as their most vulnerable ones, and still maintain a zest for life and hope for the future. Qi Yan didn't believe she had brought positive changes to Lu Zhiqiao's life, but witnessing her emerge from a closed-off world and find happiness filled her with joy.

"Actually, I haven't done anything," Qi Yan whispered softly. "It's you... "

Lu Zhiqiao silenced her with a kiss, preventing her from finishing her sentence.

 ….

In the evening, Qi Yan hurriedly arranged room 902, taking out her collection of erotic underwear and small toys, and a variety of accessories. The room was filled with the scent of "One Thousand and One Nights".

The fragrance was rich and seductive, born out of love and representing the flavor of love.

When it came to intimacy, she sought both psychological pleasure and physical enjoyment. She never minded whether she was active or passive; she simply savored the satisfaction. While she had experienced psychological pleasure in the past few days, her body had been dormant for too long. Now, craving fulfillment, she couldn't wait to satisfy her desires.

As Qiao Qiao lacked experience and her skills were likely not exceptional, she has to teach her.

The process of teaching is in itself a form of pleasure, and it is gratifying to watch her lover become more and more "skilled" under her guidance.

Qi Yan imagined the shy and blushing face of Lu Zhiqiao, and the longing gaze from the person in the afternoon came to mind. It was filled with desire, yet they struggled to restrain themselves. This made her even more impatient to see the aftermath of her "instruction" – it was like her addictive drug.

Tonight, there would be no interruptions.

After setting up the room, Qi Yan took the intimate items and entered the bathroom. She planned to take a shower and change, while also using the restroom.

Then she realized that her period had arrived...

The thought of "those days" became particularly strong.

Qi Yan had never hated Big Aunt* so much before. She counted the days on her fingers, wishing for time to pass quickly. But the more she wanted time to speed up, the slower it seemed to go. Meanwhile, Lu Zhiqiao was busy with overtime every day, coming home exhausted and falling asleep without any interest or enthusiasm.

*euphemism for menstrual period

She had to find other things to distract herself and forcefully push those thoughts aside.

After deciding to get a cat, Qi Yan arranged a few beginner classes for her daughter. Having had numerous pets when she was younger, including a chubby orange cat, she had plenty of experience and took care of all the necessary precautions.

They then prepared everything needed for the cat and accompanied her daughter to visit several local catteries, comparing options. After careful consideration, they finally settled on a four-month-old British Shorthair with a silver shaded coat and named her Naitang*

*Milk Candy/Toffee

Her daughter mentioned that her senior sister has a cat with a golden shaded coat named Mocha.

Initially, Naitang was a bit shy and kept hiding under the table and sofa, refusing to come out no matter how much she was called. She was cautious while eating her cat food, waiting for people to move away before indulging herself. At night, she didn't like the cat bed and preferred to curl up on a cushion in the corner of the sofa.

However, in just a couple of days, the little one seemed to have adapted. Occasionally, she would proactively approach the family, lifting her tiny paw to touch their legs and playfully scratch a bit. With her fluffy head held high and round eyes, she exuded adorableness.

The responsibility of feeding and cleaning up after Naitang fell on Lu Wei's shoulders. After observing for a few days, Qi Yan thought her daughter might get impatient with these tasks. However, to her surprise, her little girl showed great patience and did the litter scooping happily, humming songs and muttering to herself. It reassured Qi Yan and dispelled her concerns.

"Little Mom, do all orange cats eventually turn into little balls like Tuanzi?"

"Well..."

The mother and daughter sat on the sofa, enjoying their time with Naitang. The little cat was exceptionally well-behaved and affectionate. In just a few days, she had already claimed Lu Wei's lap as her own, refusing to move once she settled down. If Lu Wei tried to put her down, Naitang would protest with a dissatisfied meow. Except for not being allowed in the bed at night, Naitang followed Lu Wei wherever she went during the day.

Cats follow their owners and are clingy.

Qi Yan gently rubbed the fluffy head of Naitang and suddenly remembered the chubby ball of fur back home, Tuanzi. She smiled and said, "It's not necessarily the case. All I know is that Tuanzi is fat because it deserves it. It eats way too much, and my mom spoils it. No wonder it's not slim."

"That means sister Yao Yao's Mocha will also become a chubby one..." Lu Wei murmured while staring at Naitang.

The front door of the living room creaked, and Lu Zhiqiao entered the house, covered in heat. They heard Naitang meow and both turned their heads.

She had been working overtime lately, and it was already past eight o'clock. Her face was filled with exhaustion. Upon hearing the sound, she smiled at the two of them and the cat but didn't say anything.

"I'll go heat up the dishes," Qi Yan immediately stood up, naturally taking the bag from Lu Zhiqiao's hand and placing it aside before turning towards the kitchen.

Perhaps it was unnecessary worry, but Qi Yan couldn't shake the feeling that Lu Zhiqiao didn't seem to be in a good mood, more than just tired.

The dishes on the table still had some warmth, which was suitable for summer, but Qi Yan wasn't satisfied. She reheated one of the dishes until it was steaming. Then she unplugged the rice cooker and turned off the keep-warm light before bringing the food to the table.

Lu Zhiqiao was no longer in the living room. Qi Yan followed the sound and found her sitting in front of the vanity, lost in thought. Her heart tightened, and she hurriedly walked over.

"What's wrong?"

Lu Zhiqiao stood up straight, her back rigid, and stared blankly at her own face in the mirror as if she had lost her soul. She was startled when she heard Qi Yan's voice, but quickly snapped out of it and turned to look at Qi Yan. Her lips moved slightly, "Today... I told my boss about us."

"Your boss?" Qi Yan was taken aback. "Shu Minxi?"

"Yeah."

"What does it have to do with her?"

"When mentioning that 'heartless boss,' Qi Yan recalled the last time when Lu Zhiqiao had a fever but still went to work. She still felt angry about it, and her expression immediately darkened, with an unfriendly tone. 'Did she give you a hard time?'"

"No, she didn't."

"..."

"Currently, the two companies have a cooperative relationship, but we can't say for certain what changes may happen in the future. She's worried that if something happens, I'll be caught in the middle and face difficulties." Lu Zhiqiao furrowed her brows slightly, her tone filled with deep concern.

They say even close brothers settle their accounts clearly, and in the business world, there are many interests at stake. It's best to avoid mixing personal relationships with business matters. Moreover, the industry is rapidly evolving, and the overall environment changes every year. In the blink of an eye, no one can predict what will happen in the future.

Now, both companies are enjoying a harmonious cooperation, and it's good to have this relationship. However, if something unexpected happens in the future, she will inevitably find herself in the center of the whirlpool, having to make choices and facing difficult decisions.

On one side, there's a friend who has shown her kindness and on the other side, there's her lover she wants to grow old with.

What should she do when the time comes?

Lu Zhiqiao realized that she had fallen into her old habit of worrying about things that haven't happened yet. It's a habit she has had for over twenty years, and her sense of crisis prevention is too strong. Despite her efforts to overcome it, it's difficult to change it in a short period of time.

Once she starts worrying, she falls into anxiety.

Her face in the mirror shows a deep furrowed brow.

"Don't worry, it won't happen."

Qi Yan gently held her hand, looked at her seriously, and said softly: "I will never make things difficult for you."
