Chapter 110: Love at First Sight

The streetlight on this path hasn’t been changed for many years, and the light is dim, but it’s better than nothing.

Zhou Muxian looked at the man in front of him, who was wearing a mask. From his voice, it seemed that he had a cold, as there was a slight nasal tone in his speech, which inexplicably sounded sexy.

He stared blankly, and everything became somewhat unreal.

The masked man thought that Zhou Muxian was scared by the robber from earlier when he didn’t answer for a long time. He also saw the bloodstain on his neck and opened the plastic bag that he had just bought from the pharmacy to fill his medicine box.

Inside, there were adhesive bandages, medical tape, gauze, anti-inflammatory medicine, cold medicine, fever medicine… everything one could need, it was like a small warehouse.

He looked at the injured man’s neck and it didn’t seem too serious, so he took out the adhesive bandages, gauze and medical tape.

“Your neck is bleeding, let me help you with a simple dressing. You should go see a doctor later.”

Zhou Muxian nodded stiffly and straightened his neck, revealing the gleaming and flawless part of his neck like jade to this stranger.

His neck inherited his mother’s swan neck, which was very beautiful, especially when he tilted his head slightly.

The man with the mask opened his phone flashlight and carefully examined his injury, saying, “Fortunately, it’s just a scratch and it’s not a big deal.”

As he spoke, he used a medical cotton ball to clean up the bloodstains and then carefully applied two adhesive bandages.

The two of them were very close, and as they breathed, Zhou Muxian caught a faint scent of chamomile from this stranger, which was very refreshing.

When the man helped him treat the wound, his fingers occasionally brushed over the sensitive skin, and Zhou Muxian felt a strange sensation, like an electric shock.

Good times are always short-lived. The man stepped back and said to him, “Okay, I suggest you go to the hospital.”

In the boundless darkness, Zhou Muxian actually blushed in front of a man with a mask and a duck-billed cap, whose face he couldn’t even see.

He stiffly twitched the corners of his mouth and thanked him, “Thank you.”

“Not necessary to be polite, just a small favor. Goodbye.”

The man wearing a mask picked up the plastic bag next to him and was about to leave. The person who was sweating in his palms took a few quick steps and followed him, his face turning red.

“Um… Sir, I’m really grateful to you. Can I have your contact information? We can have a meal together in the future.”

The man wearing a mask stopped in his tracks and looked at Zhou Muxian with a strange look. He hadn’t had much contact with the outside world for a long time, but was it now popular to repay someone’s kindness like in TV dramas?

Feeling the other’s questioning gaze, Zhou Muxian, who was not afraid to sign multimillion-dollar contracts, felt that his face was as embarrassed as a steak heated in a frying pan. He couldn’t believe the embarrassing words that had come out of his mouth.

Just when he was feeling dejected and ready to give up, the man suddenly spoke with a hint of amusement, “Sure.”

As Zhou Muxian went through the process of being both surprised and confused, the two exchanged WeChat contact information and the man then left with his plastic bag.

Zhou Muxian quickly made his way through a dimly lit alley and arrived at a brightly lit square, where he found a chair to sit on and held his phone while laughing to himself.

He hasn’t had such a strong desire for exploration for many years, but now he can’t wait to click on that person’s Moments.

The other person hasn’t posted any selfies on Moments, and he doesn’t know if it’s set to be visible for only one month. There are only three posts in total on Moments.

The first post is a picture of an adult hand holding a photo of a twelve or thirteen-year-old girl. The girl is smiling sweetly and looks good. Although she’s still young, you can tell from her facial features and shape that she will definitely be a beauty when she grows up.

However, the appearance of this little girl seems to resemble someone, but who? He can’t remember for a moment, but he feels that she looks familiar.

The second post is a shared English song called “A Different Life”.

The third post is a table full of delicious-looking food, and the same little girl is still sitting at the table.

Is this his little sister? This man can cook and fight, and he’s especially good at taking care of children. He’s so amazing.

It’s hard to imagine that Zhou Muxian, a nearly thirty-year-old man, is now sitting on a bench in the square holding his phone and laughing foolishly.

Passing by young couples glanced at him and couldn’t help but whisper to each other, “Why is this single guy still laughing like this on May 20th? Did he eat too much dog food?”

There are no photos of adult women, and when he was getting his wound treated earlier, he wasn’t wearing a ring. He shouldn’t be married or have a partner, right?

Zhou Muxian had no idea how his thoughts had gone so far astray. They only met by chance, so why did he elevate it to the level of researching whether or not the person had a partner?

He was immersed in all sorts of inexplicable emotions when his phone beeped with a message from an online friend named Chili.

It was just a simple greeting: “What are you doing?”

Zhou Muxian usually got along well with this online friend, and on an ordinary day, he would have been interested in chatting with him. But now, he was too preoccupied with someone else and didn’t want to be distracted by chatting with Chili. He pretended not to see the message.

As he rubbed his finger over the WeChat profile picture of the man who had saved him earlier, he couldn’t help feeling regretful. It would have been great if it had been a message from that person.

Jin Yuan walked home with a plastic bag, and later he picked up his phone to check if stars had replied to his message. But apparently, the other person was busy and hadn’t responded after a long time.

He felt a bit disappointed. Even with online friendship, after a long time, deep feelings can be developed, but after an even longer time, it’s easy to become anxious about losing it.

After about half an hour, his phone finally beeped.

Stars: Chili, do you believe in love at first sight?

Chili: I don’t really believe in it. When you first meet someone, you’re just seeing their face. People’s appearance will eventually fade away.

Stars: I met someone today, and it feels like… I can’t really describe it.

Jin Yuan’s heart tightened. He felt a bit selfish and didn’t know why he didn’t want this online friend to start dating. Was it because he was afraid that if he started dating, he wouldn’t have time to chat and learn English with him anymore?

Chili: Do you have a chance to develop a relationship?

Stars: I don’t think so. We just met briefly, and it’s a bit regretful.

Jin Yuan’s heart skipped a beat. He was about to send a comforting message.

Stars: But maybe if I try harder, there’s still hope. He really makes my heart flutter.

Jin Yuan: …

A message popped up on WeChat: “Hello, I’m the person you saved today. Although it may be a bit sudden, may I ask if you’re free lately? I’d like to treat you to a meal.”

Jin Yuan replied: “Sorry, I’m very busy lately.”
