Chapter 32: Kiss in a Dream

After barely getting through the work, he hastily finished his shift, and like a rabbit, dodged his father’s inspection and disappeared from the company entrance in a hurry.

He bought some food and drinks at the milk tea shop downstairs from the hotel, ate and drank in his room, took a bath, and went to bed before 9 p.m.

He slept so early just to prevent himself from thinking too much, but as the saying goes, “during the day you think, at night you dream.” He forced himself to sleep, but his brain didn’t stop working.

In the dream, he was standing on a green lawn in a suit. The spring sunshine was warm and the flowers and willows were green. There was even a layer of bright red carpet laid out in front of him.

The wedding scene was decorated with romance and warmth, and Zhou Mushi was stunned for a moment. Suddenly he felt someone holding his hand, and he walked slowly down the red carpet under the gaze of all relatives and friends.

He then exchanged rings in front of the priest, lowered his head, and looked at the slim and beautiful fingers holding a simple ring and putting it on his own finger. Suddenly, his nose tingled, and a tear flickered in his eyes.

It seems like a long-lost longing, but in the five-year gap, things have already changed beyond recognition.

“Do you vow to be with this person through thick and thin, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, until death do you part?”

“I do.”

He heard a voice that had always been gentle to him say so.

The crowd burst into intense applause. Familiar lips landed on Zhou Mushi’s lips, causing a tingling sensation. He felt Jin Yang tighten his arms around him, and he bit him hard. Zhou Mushi didn’t dodge, just let him exert his strength on him.

He was still the same as before, looking at him with those eyes full of affection, indulging in his little antics. Warm and soft, a little smile line rippled from the corner of his eyes.

Gently sucking on his lower lip, it was so tender that it didn’t feel real, yet it made one follow his rhythm and not have the heart to push him away with force.

The aggressive and chaotic breath gradually calmed down, and Jin Yang’s lips moved like he was kissing a precious treasure. He waited until Zhou Mushi stopped struggling completely.

Zhou Mushi felt his scalp numb as he moved weakly a couple of times without much effort. He thought that since Jin Yang was holding him so tightly, his small movements wouldn’t make much of a difference, but he didn’t expect that this time he would actually manage to break free.

In the previous second, the person who was still gently kissing him suddenly released his hand, picked up the bride in her wedding dress from beside him, hugged her waist tightly, and the gentle smile on his face turned sinister. Finally, with a light push, Zhou Mushi fell down the stairs.

His body jerked and he woke up abruptly from the bed.

The room was pitch black, and Zhou Mushi felt around for his phone. The time on it showed 2:30 in the morning.

He rolled out of bed and walked to the table in the dark room. He poured himself a cup of strong coffee, the steam of which carried a faint aroma, making his mind a bit clearer.

He couldn’t tell when he started to love drinking coffee, but he never put sugar in it.

He took a shallow sip, with traces of coffee still on his lips. He had grown accustomed to the taste, and his brows didn’t even furrow.

The bitterness spread gradually in his mouth, but that kind of bitterness seemed to penetrate his soul, as if it could overlap with it.

He sat by the window, savoring the dream that had not completely dissipated from his mind, feeling that fate was playing tricks on him.

It was drizzling outside, no longer snow but real rain. This winter was coming to an end and it was time for spring to come with its warmth and blooming flowers.

The alternately changing seasons come and go every year, but people can only age day by day. Once today has passed, all that’s left is tomorrow, and there’s no going back.

Zhou Mushi bit his lip hard, the painful sensation reminding him to be more careful. The gentle knife can be deadly, hurting much more than a regular stab to the body.

The next morning, a spirited Zhou Mushi appeared in the company.

Zhou Mushi was very outstanding in appearance. Although his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Zhou, were not bad themselves, they lacked a certain charm. Zhou Mushi, on the other hand, was easy-going and inherited his parents advantages. He had a cute and obedient aura that made people radiate a maternal glow.

If he was unhappy, the melancholic feeling would become even more intense, but seeing him in this state would make people feel both heartbroken and pleasing to the eye.

There was this young and handsome leader, who was just a decorative figurehead, but the female employees of the company would listen to him obediently and carry out his orders, especially since he had his own abilities. It was said that he managed the US branch in an orderly manner.

He was also very approachable. If you happened to run into Zhou Mushi in the company’s hallway while he was wearing a suit, he would always nod at you with a slightly shy smile, causing your heart to skip a beat and your hormones to soar. When you returned to your desk, your work efficiency would be like that of someone who had taken a shot of adrenaline.

The cooperation between the company and Yucheng Group is a long-term project. On his second day at work, the adjacent office was cleared out and a senior executive from the company moved in with Mr.Jin, the director sent by Yucheng Group.

The glass between the two offices is transparent and there are no curtains or screens.

With a smirk on his face, Zhou Mushi looked at Jin Yang, who respectfully nodded and bowed slightly at him as he entered his office. For the first time, Zhou Mushi felt the urge to follow his father’s example of slamming the table and throwing chairs.

Fortunately, he was no longer a child and could control his temper.

As Zhou Mushi’s father passed by for inspection, he wore an extremely kind smile while giving instructions about the project. Afterwards, in a place where no one was around, he even raised his eyebrows at his son, obviously saying, “Look at how considerate and thoughtful your dad is.”

At the same time, Zhou Mushi smiled back at him, meaning, “You don’t need to see me off!”

Jin Yang, under the pretext of work, began to hover under his nose and test the patience he had developed over the long term, which allowed Zhou Mushi to barely handle his work without being disturbed by him.

At one point, he thought that his father was trying to make him angry on purpose, as if he wanted to experience what it felt like to see one’s hair turn white from stress.

Luckily, the director Jin from Yucheng Group was not someone who relied solely on their looks, swaying their narrow waist and long legs, not working well and wanting to climb onto the desk of their superior (Zhou Mushi) all day in the workplace.

On the other hand, they were serious and dedicated to their work, while Zhou Mushi, who held a higher position, couldn’t slack off too much either. With only a layer of glass separating them, their work attitudes were clearly visible to each other.

The director of the project department of the company, Li Daqiang, is a middle-aged man in his forties. He now has some doubts about life, wondering if he is too old to keep up with the work efficiency of young people.

The person in the company on the left is typing on the keyboard quickly, and director Jin is also typing quickly on the keyboard. The pace of work is too fast. Is the project really that urgent?

Originally, life was going smoothly until the day the company had to work overtime…
