Chapter 55: Wheel War

“The desire for talented people is common to all. Before you list Director Jin as your personal property, you can’t stop others from following in his footsteps.”

Zhou Mushi wore a very likable face and spoke with words that made people hate him to the point of itching teeth.

Linda felt it was incredible and said, “President Zhou, with your conditions, there’s no need to compete with me for a man, right?”

Zhou Mushi smiled at her very friendly and said, “If you mind, you can withdraw automatically.”

There was a moment when Linda almost broke the thin high heels on her feet.

She maintained the dignity on her face, her eyes rolled lightly for two circles, and finally couldn’t hold the dignified and virtuous appearance any longer. She sneered and said, “President Zhou is indeed young and excellent, and he also looks good. I admit that, but don’t you think that a man like you competing with a woman like me for Jin Yang is unlikely to win?”

Linda emphasized the word “man” in particular. After all, besides knowing that Jin Yang had a small ex-girlfriend in the past, she hadn’t heard anything about him being involved with other men in recent years.

He spun a pen on his desk and had a determined expression on his face.

“Well, that’s not necessarily true. After all, something that you failed to accomplish in the past, I have succeeded,” Zhou Mushi said.

What Linda failed to accomplish in the past was probably not being able to sleep with Jin Yang.

She widened her eyes in shock, and Zhou Mushi responded with a smile.

“Regarding this cooperation, our Zhou Group and Yucheng Group will provide the most perfect solution to satisfy your company.” Zhou Mushi spoke and pulled the chair back, walking out of the meeting room door first.

Director Jin, who did not participate in the discussion in the office, saw the expression on his face and asked, “Did you negotiate another project with the Hehui Group?”

Zhou Mushi shrugged his shoulders and said, “No, not only did we fail to negotiate another project, but we may have also closed the door on any future cooperation with the Hehui Group.”

“How could that be?” Jin Yang asked in confusion.

Zhou Mushi smiled and took another preserved plum from the drawer of the nearby coffee table, putting it into his mouth.

“The owner of the Hehui Group wanted too much,” he said.

Jin Yang’s gaze, which had been on the documents, shifted to Zhou Mushi’s face. The latter spoke softly, “I know what idea she’s playing at, and Director Jin knows it too. So, it’s better to end it once and for all. Of course, if this Linda has the determination to do it herself, I can’t stop her.”

He certainly knew what Linda was after, but Zhou Mushi’s demeanor made it difficult for him to understand.

Jin Yang stood up from his seat and, following Zhou Mushi’s example on the first day, closed the curtains and locked the door. He sat down on the sofa, frowning, and asked: “And what about you? What are you pursuing?”

Zhou Mushi held the candy wrapper of the preserved plum candy between his two fingers, attempting to smooth out the creases on it.

The marks on the oil paper have been imprinted on it for years. How could they disappear with just a few rubs? One must place it between thick books and press it for a long time, taking care of it bit by bit. Perhaps it can still be saved.

“Me? I just don’t want to satisfy this lady.”

Jin Yang lifted the corner of his mouth and chuckled, “How did she offend you?”

“There are things about you that I don’t know, don’t understand, and there are things about me that you don’t know, don’t understand either.
Linda didn’t do anything wrong, but if it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t have suffered so much alone. Of course, ultimately it’s not her fault.
But from my personal perspective, if I can’t strip off Director Jin’s pants and hang them on the city wall for three days of exposure, then I can only bear with her. After all, even if I do nothing, she cannot get what she wants. What I am doing is just advancing the outcome by one step, and it benefits both of us.”

As Zhou Mushi spoke, he lifted his right hand and patted Jin Yang’s cheek twice. You cannot say whether it was just a casual gesture or carried a hint of flirtation.

Jin Yang was completely confused by what he heard. He looked into Zhou Mushi’s eyes, trying to find the answer to why he wanted to strip him off and expose him for three days, but all he saw was a vague glimmer in them.

“So, do you have any more questions, Director Jin?” Zhou Mushi showed an unyielding attitude.

Jin Yang sat still, as if waiting for Zhou Mushi to say more, otherwise he would be stuck in the current situation for a long time.

Zhou Mushi did not avoid Jin Yang’s gaze, but instead put on a smile and said, “It’s not quite appropriate to stare so directly at the superior of your business partner.”

“This is our president’s office.” The secretary outside must have said something to someone, as the sound of knocking came through. “President Zhou, your guest has arrived.”

Zhou Mushi bypassed Jin Yang, twisted the doorknob of the office, and was met with a man wearing a leather jacket and boots, holding a helmet in his hand.

“Hey, how’s it going? Did you book the restaurant?” he said, giving the man a hug as he approached.

The man smiled eagerly, “I took care of it. Don’t worry, Qing is waiting for you.” He handed Zhou Mushi the helmet.

After meeting with Zhou Mushi again, Jin Yang never caught a sincere and heartfelt smile on his face. Suddenly, something pricked his heart.

“Okay, let’s go,” Zhou Mushi said, grabbing the helmet and following the man out.

The man smiled and asked, “You’re wearing this?”

Indeed, with his suit and leather shoes, Zhou Mushi seemed quite incompatible with a motorcycle helmet.

Zhou Mushi was nonchalant about it, saying “What’s wrong with it?”.

The two of them left the entrance of the office building together, got onto the motorcycle, and the man couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

“I said, why did you repeatedly remind me to come pick you up? I finally understand now, you did it to impress that person in your office, didn’t you?”

After putting on the helmet and hiding his slightly flushed face, Zhou Mushi replied, “So what if I did?”

Pei Xu laughed awkwardly. “You’re amazing. So, tell me, how far have you progressed?'”

“Worse than before we started. Alright, let’s go, drive fast, senior.”

Pei Xu twisted the handlebars of his bike and felt a sense of relief throughout his body because of his younger schoolmate’s behavior.

“Hey, if you need people, you don’t have to organize a gathering. Shucheng, myself, and even Shucheng’s boss from his family’s company, Shen Qirun, we can lend you our support, even lend you Ershi from his family. Oh, and there’s also Zhou Hang, we’ll be there for you, we’ll make it a day full of excitement.”

Zhou Mushi said, “Don’t even mention Zhou Hang. He’s currently immersed in a whirlpool of emotions due to his constant heartbreaks. As long as he doesn’t hold me back, I’m grateful. However, the idea of a wheel war1 “Wheel war” is a game or activity where participants ride bicycles or other similar vehicles and try to push each other off their vehicles by colliding their wheels or bumping into each other. The last person standing or the one who manages to stay on their vehicle the longest wins the game. It’s a competitive and physical activity that can be enjoyed among friends or as part of a larger event. that you mentioned is worth considering.”

“Oh, you’re really into this. I’ll make a schedule for a few of us later.”
