Chapter 68: That Lady

Zhou Mushi spirit is not as easily appeased as his body. Even when he closes his eyes to sleep, it continues to be active and unwilling to rest.

Once again, Zhou Mushi was lost in a dream. Dreams are a vast and prolonged aspect of a person’s existence.

When individuals claim to have frequent dreams, it really depends on whether or not they can recall them the following day.

He seemed to urgently need something to calm Jin Yang down, probably because he wanted to create an element of “home” in his consciousness. In his vague and elusive dream, Zhou Mushi suddenly became pregnant.

It was like another world, where it wasn’t absurd for a man to be pregnant. When he saw the two lines on the pregnancy test in front of him, Zhou Mushi didn’t find it hard to accept in his dream.

After joyfully handing the pregnancy test to Jin Yang, who had worked hard every night, the two of them jumped and danced around the room before preparing to go to the hospital.

It was strange because even though his stomach was flat when he used the test, it became round and bulging like a ball protruding from his sweater when they arrived at the hospital. It was a struggle for him to even climb onto the bed.

In the blink of an eye, he gave birth to twins, and just like that, he began a new life of raising children until it made him want to cry.

Meanwhile, Jin Yang sat with his legs crossed every day, waiting for him to cook and clean. Even when the sesame oil bottle fell to the ground, he didn’t bother to pick it up, as he looked at his phone and ate his melon seeds. Despite the deafening cries of the identical twin babies, Jin Yang remained indifferent.

Finally, exhausted by the demands of daily life, Zhou Mushi erupted.

Pointing at the person on the couch, he yelled, “If there was a pill for regret, I would never let you have a child!”

The person lying there watching the game glanced up at him with an extremely insolent expression and said, “Heh, too late.”

Zhou Mushi felt like he had been awakened by anger. When he opened his eyes, the sun was shining, and a gentle and warm breeze was gently caressing the curtains.

He dragged his weary feet out of the door, and Jin Yang was standing in the kitchen, cooking porridge and working on a project.

Jin Yang in real life was so adorable, what kind of ghosts was he dreaming of just now?

Breakfast was very simple, with just some meat porridge that he cooked himself, buns that Jin Yang brought back last night and put in the microwave for two spins, two boiled eggs, and a little bit of pickled vegetables.

But Zhou Mushi enjoyed it very much. He loved Chinese food deeply. Eating and sleeping used to be the two most important things in his life, but living abroad for those years had forcibly severed that connection.

God knows how unappetizing those expensive and delicate salads and steaks looked to him.

Every day mechanically chewing on those things, Zhou Mushi felt like he was living like a sheep eating grass.

The warm porridge rolled into his stomach, instantly making him feel particularly comfortable. After eating such a meal, he felt an indescribable sense of happiness.

While munching on the beef porridge and buns he cooked, Zhou Mushi suddenly remembered something. “Oh, by the way, a woman came to the company yesterday looking for you.” he said.

“What kind of woman?” Jin Yang asked, puzzled.

“She looked like she was thirty-seven or thirty-eight, maybe even older. She was a well-maintained and elegantly dressed wife, wearing a diamond ring and with single eyelids, but very beautiful. She had a very classic beauty.”

Jin Yang went over it in his head several times, but he couldn’t remember when he had met someone like that, or how they could have found the company. “Are you sure she was looking for me?” he asked.

“Of course.” Zhou Mushi said, picking up a strand of pickled vegetable and stuffing it into his mouth.

“I don’t remember knowing anyone like that.” Jin Yang said.

“I thought it was strange too. Yesterday, I offered to help her call you if she was in a hurry, but she didn’t say anything and just left.” Zhou Mushi said.

Due to it being their day off, they had breakfast very late, and by the time they were at the table, it was already half past ten. They didn’t know if it was breakfast or lunch they were having.

As they were discussing this, Jin Yang’s phone rang.

Nowadays, mobile phones have the function of displaying harassing calls. Jin Yang always refuses to answer any harassing sales calls. The call was from an unfamiliar number and did not display as a harassing call.

He didn’t know who would call him at this time, but he still answered.

“Hello, may I help you?”

The other party was silent for a while, and there was no sound. Just as Jin Yang thought it might be a wrong number or someone’s prank, a very gentle female voice came from the phone, “Hello. Can I… Can I meet you?”

Jin Yang: “…I’m sorry, may I know who you are?”

“I, I came to your company yesterday, and it’s a pity that you had already left.”

Jin Yang heard this and it matched what Mushi had said.

“I’m sorry, ma’am. I think you should at least tell me your identity, otherwise I can’t meet a stranger.”

The other party hesitated for a moment and said, “Okay, I’ll send you a picture message. I’ll be waiting for you all day today at the Champs-Élysées Café.”

She hung up the phone after speaking, and Jin Yang frowned, feeling a bit puzzled.

“What’s wrong? Is it that woman from yesterday?” asked Zhou Mushi curiously.

Jin Yang nodded and had just thrown down his phone when a picture message arrived. He opened his phone and saw that it was indeed a photo.

The photo is quite old, although it looks well-preserved. Based on the camera skills and pixelation, one can roughly guess the year it was taken.

In the picture, there are two infants wearing thick clothes, and they look identical. They both have red “píng ān fú1 “平安福” (píng ān fú) is a decorative item in Chinese culture that is believed to bring peace, safety, and good luck. It is usually made of cloth and embroidered with auspicious characters or patterns, such as the Chinese character “福” (fú), which means “blessings” or “happiness”. The “píng ān fú” is often worn as an amulet around the neck or hung in the home or car. It is a popular gift during festivals, weddings, or other special occasions to express good wishes and blessings. ” hanging on their necks, one embroidered with the word “远” (yuǎn) and the other with the word “阳” (yáng). Behind them is a girl wearing a light yellow shirt, with two ponytails tied up, and a sweet smile on her face. She appears to be around sixteen or seventeen years old.

Jin Yang’s eyes were caught by the photo. He passed his phone to Zhou Mushi and asked, “Is this the same person who came to see me yesterday?”

Zhou Mushi carefully examined the photo and realized that the girl in the picture and the woman who visited them yesterday matched.

Her beautiful monolid eyes were very distinctive, and it was fortunate that she did not pursue the trend of getting double eyelid surgery.

“Yes, it’s her!” Zhou Mushi confirmed.

Zhou Mushi also noticed the twins in the photo and asked tentatively, “Perhaps she could be your sister or your aunt?”

Jin Yang shook his head after stuffing the last bite of the bun into his mouth. “I don’t remember.”

“Are you going to see her later?”

“I haven’t decided yet.” He spoke in a soft voice, with a somewhat uneasy and stiff expression on his face.
