Chapter 88: A Sharp Blade

The first time Jin Yang saw Wang Xijie was in the hospital corridor.

It was raining that day and in a hurry, the two of them had taken each other’s identical phones.

They contacted each other and arranged to meet in the hospital lobby to exchange phones.

Wang Xijie’s friend arrived first and apologetically told Jin Yang, “Sorry, my friend just went to the bathroom. Please wait a moment, he’ll be back soon.”

Jin Yang followed the direction the person was looking in and saw a boy wearing a mint green short-sleeved shirt with a light denim jacket over it and a duckbill cap on his head walking towards them in the bustling hospital lobby.

He was of average height, around 1.78 meters tall, and slightly thin, probably an adult, but from a distance, he looked like a seventeen or eighteen-year-old boy.

He walked slowly towards them, his lips curved, and his eyes turning into a smile.

“Come here quickly, this is the gentleman who took the wrong phone,” Old Wang called out.

The boy in front of him looked young, but there was a certain level of maturity in his every move.

Jin Yang felt a bit dazed, sensing a familiarity from the boy in mint green short sleeves that he couldn’t quite explain. It wasn’t familiarity from having met before, but rather something about his demeanor that seemed vaguely familiar.

“Hello, here is your phone.”

“Hello, and here is yours.”

Jin Yang shook his hand politely. The hand that he shook was handsome, with distinct bones, and soft and warm to the touch without being overly hot, with a faint smell of soap.

The rain outside was getting heavier and heavier, with a pouring downpour. Whenever it rained like this, getting a taxi was always an especially difficult task.

Jin Yang stood in the corridor and called a ride-share. It was a shared ride, and when he got in, he saw that the boy who had mistakenly taken his phone was already sitting there.

Encountering the same stranger twice in a day is a wonderful fate, so when Wang Xijie smiled and asked to exchange WeChat contacts, Jin Yang didn’t refuse.

He was not someone who casually made friends, but the familiarity of this boy made Jin Yang let his guard down.

In the many days that followed, Jin Yang would be grateful for meeting Wang Xijie today.

This innocent and harmless teenager was like a sharp blade, allowing him to easily cut off things he wanted to dispose of, bones and all, without leaving any residue.

. . . . .

Zhou Mushi went to the seaside and came back with excitement, telling Jin Yang about everything he saw and heard.

“I never thought the people over there would be so wealthy. In the bank, many uncles wearing shirts and slippers can easily handle business worth millions.”

As he spoke, he washed a peach and gave one to Jin Yang and kept one for himself.

“It is said that the lobby manager of the bank I went to this time earns a monthly salary of four to five thousand yuan, and has hired two housekeepers for his family. Each housekeeper earns four thousand yuan, and they rent out five buildings. Oh, and there’s also a taxi driver who works for him. He drives a taxi to relieve boredom, collects monthly rent, makes his own schedule, and collects cash at the door every day. Then he drives to the bank to deposit it. He’s just finding something to do for himself.”

Jin Yang held his laptop and quickly calculated something, smiling and saying, “They have good policies there, and the people are smart enough to do business and get rich quickly. Money can’t be spent in any case. It’s normal for people to find something to do for themselves and have some fun.”

Zhou Mushi took a bite of a sweet peach and grinned, “Why can’t the money be spent? Even if you give me more money, I can spend it all without anyone’s help!”

Jin Yang patted his head and smiled, “No rush, there will be opportunities.”

“Is Mr. Jin trying to turn me into a young corrupt person who spends money recklessly? No way! Diligence and upward mobility is the way for a good young person to behave~”

Once a person feels secure in a relationship, they are prone to being “unreasonable.” They may say they are willing to spend money, but they still expect others to pay. Of course, this is just a minor issue that won’t affect the relationship between two people.

They had salted duck for dinner, which was well-prepared and had no hint of gaminess. The best part was the thick sauce. After picking up a piece of duck meat and rolling it in the secret sauce, the flavor was completely wrapped in the sauce. When they tasted it, they immediately felt a different sense of satisfaction.

It’s probably because of spring, or maybe because Zhou Mushi’s mood has been particularly good lately, that his appetite has improved a lot.

With every bite of rice, soup, and vegetables, he could feel freshness and a special sense of satisfaction.

Jin Yang put a piece of duck leg in his bowl and seeing how deliciously he was eating, he had the illusion of an old father seeing his son’s increased appetite during adolescence.

“Even if you like it, don’t eat too much in one meal, otherwise you’ll get tired of it next time.”

“But it’s just too delicious,” Zhou Mushi said as he continued to fill his mouth, “My brain tells me to stop, but my hands and mouth disagree.”

“You’re really good at finding excuses to indulge your cravings. Here, eat some broccoli.”

Zhou Mushi wasn’t very picky, he could even taste the unique aroma of this green vegetable.

He continued to shovel food into his mouth with his chopsticks, but it didn’t stop him from talking.

“You don’t know, there was a time when I couldn’t stop feeling nauseous and couldn’t eat anything. It was so unbearable. Now it seems like all the passion I had for food that I missed back then, I’m making up for it now.”

Jin Yang frowned with concern, “You couldn’t eat anything? When was this?”

Only then did Zhou Mushi realize that he had let something slip, and quickly said, “It was when I was in America. At first, I had trouble adjusting to the food, but then I got used to it.”

He didn’t want to reveal the real truth. Back then, before he broke up with Jin Yang, he was mentally exhausted and nauseous due to the stress. If he were to say it now, it would definitely bring the atmosphere down to zero.

After a few more sentences, if they talked about the fact that Jin Yang’s once well-managed company went bankrupt, he would really have nothing to say.

Thinking about this, Zhou Mushi couldn’t help feeling a bit guilty, so he quickly picked out the best piece of meat and put it in Jin Yang’s bowl, “You should have some too~”

Jin Yang nodded and smiled, taking a bite.

The strong aroma of the sauce was too overpowering for his taste buds and he coughed involuntarily.

“Ahem, ahem!”

Zhou Mushi saw the situation and quickly helped him catch his breath, “What’s wrong, what’s wrong?”

“It’s nothing, it’s nothing. Maybe I ate too quickly and choked on my windpipe.”

Jin Yang silently thought to himself, “It seems like I should quit smoking early.”
