Chapter 98: Into the Police Station

Jin Yuan sat on the sofa close to the door and habitually went to open it. He opened a layer of room door and a layer of anti-theft door. There was a man standing outside with a suitcase.

Twelve years, long enough to turn a boy into an almost unrecognizable man. Chen Sheng’s youthful and inexperienced look had disappeared from his face and body, replaced by a more convincing and mature appearance that was easier to deceive people.

He was extremely clever and without saying a word, he squeezed into the door with his suitcase, and only shouted “Xiao Yuan” at the entrance.

Jin Yang thought it was a delivery guy and didn’t pay attention. He was sitting in the living room preparing to peel an apple, but was struck by the low voice.

He still held the fruit knife in his hand, and “scooted” off the sofa and walked quickly to the entrance. He saw the bastard he least wanted to see in his life.

Jin Yuan, who was in a state of confusion, immediately went to stop him when he saw Jin Yang rushing out with a knife. After all, he had suffered for so many years because of a knife.

“Little brother, don’t be impulsive,” said Jin Yuan.

Jin Yang was taken aback for a moment, but then understood what Jin Yuan meant, and so he calmly folded the knife in his hand and threw it aside.

“I wasn’t being impulsive. I was just peeling an apple,” he said gently to his brother. Then he took a step forward and quietly separated Jin Yuan and Chen Sheng.

“What’s the meaning of this, Mr. Chen? Are you trying to rob us by breaking into our home with a suitcase?”

Chen Sheng wasn’t stupid and immediately acted weakly, looking pitiful as if he had been bullied. “Jin Yang, how can you say that? I just heard that Xiao Yuan came out and immediately flew over from overseas to see him and make it up to him.”

“Hmph, make it up? Make up for what? You’ve seen him already. If you really want what’s best for my brother, go far away from here. As long as we don’t have you, we can live a good life.”

“No, you let me help him, I want to…”

“You want? You don’t want! Do you think you’re a savior? You’re just a manipulative person!”

Jin Yang is usually a mature and steady person who always handles things carefully and appropriately, no matter what happens. But in front of Chen Sheng, he didn’t care about his dignity or face, even if he was seen as unreasonable.

“I know, I was wrong, but… but, Xiao Yuan…” Chen Sheng immediately begged Jin Yuan for help. He knew very well that he couldn’t get any benefits from Jin Yang, who was as unyielding as a rock.

Jin Yuan came out from behind Jin Yang and patted his hand, saying, “Xiao Yang, we’re out of noodles at home. Go buy some.”

The meaning behind his words couldn’t be more obvious.

Jin Yang naturally didn’t want to, but he had no choice when it came to his elder brother. He angrily picked up the coat hanging on the hanger and said, “Brother, I’m leaving now. I’ll come see you another day.”

Before leaving, he gave Chen Sheng a fierce glare before finally leaving.

As soon as Jin Yang left, Chen Sheng immediately breathed a sigh of relief and followed Jin Yuan to the sofa in three steps and two steps.

. . . . .

It was in the afternoon and the weather was a bit gloomy with a tendency to rain. Jin Yang sat in the car, feeling frustrated and unable to vent his anger. He hit the handlebar of the car and clenched his teeth.

However, he didn’t linger there for too long and started driving home. Just as he drove into the gate of his residential community, he received a phone call from an unknown number. Being in a bad mood, he didn’t want to answer, but the number called again. It didn’t seem like a prank call, so Jin Yang answered.

“Hello, may I ask if this is Mr. Jin Yang?” A deep male voice came from the other end of the line.

“Yes, who is this?”

The other person said, “I’m from the XX Road Police Station. Is Zhou Mushi your friend?”

Jin Yang quickly said, “Yes, what happened to Zhou Mushi?”

“Don’t worry, he is currently detained in our police station for suspected fighting. Can you come and pick him up?”

“Fight? Was he injured? Is it serious?”

“It’s not too bad. Can you come over now?”

There was no time for delay, “I’ll be there in ten minutes” Jin Yang said.

He drove quickly, fortunately there were not many traffic lights on the way. When he rushed into the police station, his heart was already in his throat.

“Officer, I’m a family member of Zhou Mushi, how is he doing now?”

The officer who received him saw that he looked distraught and comforted him, “He’s currently making a statement, please wait here for a while. We will have more information soon.”

Jin Yang’s eyelids kept twitching, but he knew he had to listen and sit in the waiting area.

During the wait, he had imagined countless possibilities in his mind.

Mushi is a good boy. Even during the hormone-fueled teenage years, he never got into any physical conflicts. So how could he be suspected of fighting now?

Moreover, he has a slightly thin build and is not considered strong. What if the other person is a tall, 300-pound man? How could he win the fight?

The more Jin Yang thought about it, the worse it got. It was May, and the police station had its windows open on this slightly cloudy day, letting a cool breeze in. However, he had a layer of sweat on his forehead.

Every second of waiting felt unbearable. He had already bitten his nails down to nothing and was now pinching the flesh on his thumb as hard as he could, but the skin on his thumb was thick, so it didn’t hurt much and couldn’t provide him with any comfort.

The old clock hanging on the wall swung back and forth, making a slight sound, as if it was tapping on Jin Yang’s heart. His eyes, ears, mouth, and nose felt blocked, and even his breathing became difficult.

When the door of the adjacent room opened, Jin Yang’s heart skipped a beat. He rushed to the front as soon as he saw Zhou Mushi coming out. Seeing that good boy with his swollen and bruised face, his heart was broken.

His hands trembled as he checked Zhou Mushi from head to toe, afraid that he might have broken bones or hurt his tendons.

After all, the injuries on his face were already very obvious, with even the corners of his mouth turning slightly blue.

Although Zhou Mushi and Jin Yang had a very close relationship, it was still a bit awkward to be touched all over like a mother by a big man in front of the police.

“Cough, I’m fine, really.” He tried to be tough, but the smile on his face became too big and it made his face ache, causing him to involuntarily take a gulp of cold air.
