Time Traveling Hero

Chapter 13 - Unnamed Boy Dubs The Silver Haired Girl...!

I looked at the girl, the one who had caused me to run my hardest to meet her. Angry, confused, worried, I was feeling a flurry of emotions from that one sentence she had told me.

"Well, aren't you going to answer me?" I asked somewhat impatiently, tapping my foot on the ground.

"..."

She just stared at me in response, her emotionless face looking at me as if trying to understand my motives.

What's up with her all of a sudden? I thought, trying to wrap my head around this current situation. Hell, what's up with me? Why did I even bother coming all the way back here? Didn't I say she was a nuisance?

"You really came."

Those were the first words out of her pretty mouth, and she turned to face me, finally have gotten ready to talk.

"I thought that was pretty obvious, all things considering."

"I was expecting you to come from the sky."

I was dumbfounded. She was right, why didn't I take Raijin here? Argh, I can be such a damn idiot sometimes. I sighed before responding.

"I felt cooler this way, like one of those anime protagonists who rushes to save the girl."

She tilted her head, confused. "Anime...?"

"Don't worry about it, now just tell me why you made me rush all the way over here," I said, my patience starting to wear thin.

"You should know the reason already."

This again? I clenched my fists in anger. "I already told you no! N! O! NO! Why the hell are so damn persistent about this anyway?"

Her yellow eyes turned away from my gaze after my statement, and for a second, I thought I saw a melancholic look fill her yellow eyes.

"...Why?"

"Huh?"

I asked in confusion. What does she mean why? I've already told her why? Seriously, what was up with her today?

"I don't understand why. Why is that you won't grant me this request? I did save you, and it's not like I'm even asking you to join anymore, so why?"

Silence was my response to that, as I turned my gaze toward the setting sun. It's just better this way, I thought.

"It is clear to me that you really are the one who can take the title. But, why is that you refuse. I cannot understand. It is your role, so it is obvious that you must fulfill it. So why must you deny it?"

"I never asked to have that role in the first place."

I turned my gaze back toward the beautiful girl, who's yellow eyes now locked back onto me.

"You say that I must do that, I'm obligated to do that, but all that is straight bullshit. I want to live my life the way I want to, and not by some magical role that is seemingly given to me. I'm just your average genius high schooler who's content with the way his life is. So, why is it that you want to tear it down so damn badly?" Lie.

It was her turn to be silenced. However, her gaze remained firmly on me, and it seemed that she was trying to come up with an appropriate response.

"Live your life? Why should you live your life when your clear role, your purpose, your very reason being alive, is right there in front of you? Why don't you just take it?"

"Because I didn't decide that."

A look a shock overcame her usual emotionless face, seemingly the only emotion I've been able to invoke from this silver haired beauty.

"I don't want to be stuck into a role I had no choice to be put in," I said, thinking back about my sister's predicament, and anger started to well up from within. "That's why, everything will be my choice, and never anyone's else's!" Half Truth.

"Stupid."

"You're the stupid one, thinking that if everyone was in the role that they were assigned, they would be happy. Human beings are more then that, but I guess you have yet to learn that, haven't you?"

I could tell that she was struggling to understand my way of thinking, as her eyes whirred in and out of focus, trying to understand a concept so foreign from her own.

All of which he said wasn't completely a lie but wasn't completely true either. This was his effort to hide his true feelings.

It's better this way. I just need to focus on my sister, and make sure that she's happy. That's all I need to worry about.

"... I see. So that's how it is," she murmured, the wind blowing her hair to the side.

And with the sun now having set over the horizon, it marked the end of their debate.

I turned around and was just about to leave, having finally convinced her to leave me alone, when I felt a massive chill course through my body. I stopped and glanced over at the girl I was leaving behind.

Did she do that? I thought, becoming more wary by the second.

"!"

I leapt to the side, having narrowly dodged a blast of energy. The spot where I was standing was now charred black and sizzling with residual energy.

"What the hell was that for!?" I asked the culprit, when I noticed that she wasn't looking at me. Instead she was looking up at the night sky.

Wait, what's wrong with the sky? It had turned a bloodred red, and the stars in the night sky were now shining black.

She pointed at the true culprit, who was flying in the sky. "It was her who did it."

I looked over at the one responsible for almost charring me to a crisp, and was stunned into silence.

It was Model 114141, her purple eyes glaring down at the two of us. The only difference was instead of the long silver hair of the original, it was now purple.

"What's going on here?"

"You're really just going to give up that easily? Pathetic, and here I thought that you could be the hero we so desperately need." She hissed out her words, clear hatred behind them.

"Fine then, guess I'll just have to take you by force. Of course, they won't mind if you lose a limb or two."

Yeah, this wasn't going to end well at all, I could tell.

"If he says he doesn't want to go, then we can't stop him. I'll let him do as he pleases, until he can finally decide for himself that it is what he wants."

"..."

This girl always astounds me the more and more I hear her talk. I gritted her teeth at her words, and the emotions that I put deep down inside me were slowly making their way to the surface.

"Hmph, you're weak to say that 'Me'. You know as well as I do that we don't have the luxury of waiting around any longer. If I have to kill 'Me' to do it, then so be it!"

"I won't allow it, no matter what!"

The two Model 114141's both proclaimed their resolves before beginning the fight. I only watched, trying to figure out the situation in front of me.

"Configure Mode 2547."

The silver one grew her wings before launching her assault at the purple one.

She punched Purple and sent her flying upward into the air. Purple quickly recovered before aiming her arm at Silver.

"Fire!"

A blast of silver energy shot out from her now cannon-like arm, and hurtled straight at Silver, who narrowly dodged it while hurtling herself at her opponent.

"Configure Mode 5431."

She spread out her arms, and from the arms came newly configured Gatling Guns.

"Fire."

A barrage of bullets shot out at Purple, who quickly pulled back away from the approaching Silver and weaved through the lines of fire unharmed.

Purple started to laugh maniacally. "This is great 'Me!" That's right, try to beat me as best you can. There can only be one victor!"

She managed to get enough distance from Silver before her purple eyes honed in on Silver.

"Configure Mode 4378!"

Her eyes began to glow a bright purple before shooting out lasers at Silver. Silver quickly put away the Gatling's and started dodge the ensuing laser onslaught. The laser also didn't have to follow Purple's eyesight, so they could try to trap Silver in between the two in a pincer attack.

"Configure Mode 3701."

A bright yellow shield formed around Silver as she rushed headlong, taking the lasers full frontal assault.

"Ugh!"

When Silver got close enough to Purple, the lasers shooting out from her eyes rebounded back, causing her to go blind for a bit.

Silver slammed her fist, which was now covered in spikes, into Purple's c.h.e.s.t. She got sent flying away from Silver before slowing down. She was holding her wound, and it looked like it was bleeding.

"Excellent! How wonderful! But I won't lose to someone who refuses to take action!"

And then she was gone, or at least seemed like it. She flew so fast towards Silver that I barely caught it with my n.a.k.e.d eye.

She slammed both her fists towards Silver, who caught them with her b.a.r.e hands.

"Someone like you doesn't deserve to be in the Time Resistance Task Force!"

Purple swung her leg around, which had modified itself into a giant metal club with spikes and hit Silver directly into her side. She got sent downwards toward the roof before saving her fall, hovering just above the ground before landing.

Silver coughed up some blood before looking back up at Purple.

She shot up back into the air, where the two were slamming into each other constantly at their top speed, exchanging blows so quick that it was impossible to see how much got blocked and how much damage they took for a normal human. However...

I clutched the key around my neck before continuing to watch. They seemed to have the same abilities and skill set, and they were about even.

"But at this rate, she'll lose," I muttered.

Silver and purple energy balls clashed together constantly, lighting up the night sky, crackling with energy as they dissipated. The sky had also been cracking this entire time, ever since the clash had begun.

And it wasn't just the sky either. Reality itself was cracking, and I was slowly starting to put the pieces together.

Suddenly a loud boom echoed through the sky, and two streaks of light got sent flying off into different directions; one Silver headed toward the athletic field, and one Purple landing on the roof.

BOOM!

I covered my eyes with my arms as dust and rubble got sent flying everywhere. I could see a familiar head of silver coughing amongst the dust.

Model 114141, a name that would soon be discarded, was a mess. Her clothes in tatters, one of her arms clearly broken, blood pouring down her beautiful face, her wings half torn, and her legs struggling to keep her body on its feet. And still...

She gritted her teeth and focused her yellow eyes down at where Purple had landed. I only hoped that she was in similar shape.

And suddenly she appeared, floating in the air, and was faring far better than Silver was.

"Oh, what's the matter? I thought you said that you would let this boy choose his own path?" She started to cackle with laughter. "But look at you, you're in shambles! It's amazing that you're actually still able to stand! I guess you aren't 'Me' for nothing, huh!?"

Silver took a deep breath and sighed. "I won't lose. I can't lose. I don't want to force Master to do anything he doesn't want to do. My special friend always told me treat your friends with care."

"Friends? You actually consider what you have with him a friendship!? Don't make me laugh!" she spat out. "Don't think for a second that he gives a damn about you! All he needs to do is fulfill his role, by ANY MEANS NECESSARY!"

"... That is not true," she said confidently. "He is most definitely my friend, no matter what he or others think."

Stop it.

"I'll protect him, because he's a friend."

Why are you saying this?

"Even though he acts standoffish, he still answers my questions, and treats me like any other."

How can she say that with such confidence?

"But most importantly, if he really didn't want to talk to me, he could just ignore me. He truly is the first friend I've made in a long time," she continued, and a smile that shouldn't have been there appeared on her face. "And so, I'll cherish him just as much as my special friend told me to do.

Damn it. DamnItDamnItDamnItDamnItDamnItDamnItDamnItDamnItDamnItDamnItDamnItDamnIt!

"F.u.c.k.i.n.g Goddamn it!" I roared out, enraged by how easily, how confident she could say these words about a guy like me.

And at long last, his hidden emotions came out from hiding, and he finally spoke the truth.

"You, you damn Model 114141! Argh, damn it, that's too long to even say now!"

Both of them looked over at my sudden outbursts.

"Who the hell said you could just up and say something so clearly embarrassing!? You must really have no shame you know!"

Purple shook her head. "He's finally lost it. Ah well, about time to end this."

She raised up her arm before grinning crazily.

"Configure Mode 7091!"

Her arm turned into a large spire of silver energy, constructing itself into what seemed like a sword.

I turned toward Model 114141. "I need 30 seconds."

"Affirmative."

"Now, die 'Me', and allow me to take over!"

She swung down onto Silver, who hastily constructed a shield of faltering yellow energy.

I got onto the edge of the roof and clutched my key before looking back at the scene.

Purple was swinging downward full force at Silver, who was keeping her promise to me. She gritted her teeth as her body slowly began to sink into the ground, desperately trying to hold herself up.

"Hey, Model 114141!" I yelled out.

She looked back at me, confusion evident in her face.

It was then that he dubbed her the name...!

"Don't you dare die on me, Anna!"

And then I leapt off the building, hurtling towards the ground with my resolve now affirmed.
