Time Traveling Hero

Chapter 3 - Unnamed Boy Meets Silver Haired Girl PT.3

I stared at the silver haired girl, stunned. What the hell had actually happened? Another Time Loop?

"... Affirmative. Requesting to start mission," The silver haired girl said, her yellow eyes whizzing to life.

I couldn't believe my luck. How could this happen to me again, let alone in the span of less than a day?

The girl nodded, having gotten her mission request accepted by the looks of things. Her yellow eyes had now whizzed to a stop after focusing their gaze on me.

"How strange for you to get caught in another time loop. The inhabitants of this world don't get trapped in these phenomenon. Except for you. How very strange indeed..." She trailed off, trying to make sense of it.

Could it be because of that? I thought, grabbing onto something that would normally be around my neck.

Feeling that it wasn't there, I scowled and shook my head. Well, it's not like I was going to do anything with it anyway.

"Well, I solely blame you for this. So far, every time one of these things has happened, you're always nearby. How did you find me anyway?"

"I asked one of the teachers. Her response was strange, but she seemed to know."

"Damn that woman! I told her not to tell anybody!" I roared out angrily. Seriously, what's the point of telling people about this place? Especially if it means I can't even do what me and her are meant to figure out together?

"Is it a problem that I know about this place?" she asked, tilting her head to her side questioningly.

"So long as you don't tell anybody else about this place, it should be fine," I muttered, not very pleased with the current conditions.

"I guess now that we technically have unlimited time for the time being, why don't we talk some," she asked, for once a hint of emotion in her voice: enthusiasm.

I sighed and sat down. "Fine, what is it you wish to talk about?" I asked unenthusiastically.

"For one, your name," she responded almost immediately, also sitting down.

I frowned. "What is your obsession with knowing my name? It's not important, so just leave it at that."

"But what am I supposed to call you? You know my name, so what should I call you?"

"Only because you told me your name while I was still stunned by what had happened. Seriously though, what kind of name is Model 114141?" I asked, looking away from the beautiful girl sitting in front of me.

Silence. I suddenly became confused by the abrupt silence. I turned back towards her to find a look of shock on her face. Except this one didn't go immediately.

"You, you remember my name?" she said in incredulous shock, asking it like she couldn't believe it.

"I don't see why not. It's not particularly difficult to remember, especially after-" I said, stopping myself halfway.

I almost said something embarrassing just then, something closer to what some people could believe his true feelings on the matter.

I cleared my throat. "In any case, no need to look so shocked about it, is what I'm trying to say I guess."

Her eyes were whirling around like mad, before they finally calmed down. At the same time, her face reverted back to its normal apathetic self.

"I see, well if that's the case, there's nothing further on that matter," she said, sensing that the conversation wasn't going to go anywhere. "Next topic is the matter of the Time Resistance Task Force."

Having finally calmed down unnecessary feelings, I thought about her statement just now. "The TRTF, huh? What about them?"

"If possible, I wish to take you back to them. You are different, in a way I can not describe. However, maybe my colleagues would be able to identify this strange feeling around you." She clutched her arms in a rather vulnerable manner. "It's as if some part of you is not human."

I scowled at her response, although the reason is unclear to you right now reader. "So you basically just want to run experiments on me huh? I'd rather not, no thanks! Tell your friends to piss off!"

She looked slightly disappointed. "I see, I was hoping you could fill in the role of a certain spot..."

"A certain spot?"

She nodded. "Yes, a certain spot that has been vacant for about 12 years now, where only one chosen can take up that role."

"10 years ago, huh? That brings back bad memories," I muttered, thinking back to that dark time in my life.

Now that I think about it, it was around that time many turbulent changes had happened in a short time span.

The girl incapable of showing emotions ignored my reminiscing on the past and continued. "Yes, 10 years ago we lost our most capable person in our force. Ever since then, we have been desperately searching for someone to take up that mantle."

She stood up, and I could've sworn I saw a wistful look in her eyes. "That special person was known as the Time Traveling Hero," she said before turning away from me.

"And a dear friend of mine..." She whispered quietly, almost so quiet that I couldn't hear it.

Almost.

I couldn't help but laugh at the audacity of her statement. "You want me, a friendless loner, with nothing special about him, just an ordinary person living in the ruins known as the cogs of life, to be a hero? Don't make me laugh anymore than I already am. I know that that's just a fantasy. Reality is harsher than this. Real heroes don't exist!"

And with that statement, I suddenly got sent flying into the wall by a strong force to the face.

Slamming into the wall unprepared, I yelled out a scream of pain before gritting my teeth in determination. Holding my side as I slowly got up, using my free hand, I felt my cheek, which was warm to the touch.

"Ugh, what the hell was that for!" I yelled out, looking at the culprit of my sudden flight.

"Just shut up," she said quietly, her hands balling up into fists.

Wait, did I make her angry? I thought, shocked. I didn't think that was possible, but just now I was proven wrong.

"Don't talk bad about her. Didn't anyone tell you to have manners?" she said, her voice shaking.

She's like a different person now, I thought carefully. I better be more careful with what I say.

Model 114141 was looking down onto the floor, her entire body now shaking. "You know, I wanted to know your name because you have such striking similarities between the two of you. But you know what," she said, her voice shaking, her entire body trembling with rage.

"You're nothing like her! Not in the slightest! She was way kinder, cooler, stronger, and better than you in anyway!" The silver haired girl roared out this statement in anger, and when her eyes were turned toward me, they were purple, whirring into focus onto my injured self.

"I won't let anyone talk bad about her in that way. Not now, NOT EV-!" She suddenly got cut off as she suddenly passed out.

I sighed. "I really don't like it when I have to do this. Take a nap for a while. I'll figure it out from here," I said sadly. The now sleeping girl didn't respond, but I already figured that.

I turned toward the sky, which I had noticed was glowing for quite some time now. Ever since I had found out it was another time loop.

"Come on out already. I already know at least something is there, judging from last time."

I heard a screech in response, and soon a giant bird came flying from the now red cloud covered sky.

It landed in front of the unconscious girl. Ignoring her, the bird looked at me upon confusion, probably wondering why I seemed so easy to kill.

"Underestimating me like that will be your downfall you know." I said before taking a deep breath.

And right as the bird was rushing me, going to slice me in half with its giant beak, a slash suddenly appeared on it's right leg, albeit a small one.

It was enough however, for it toppled down and slid to a stop right in front of me. Its beady eyes glared at me as I knelt down next to it.

"It seems the condition was cleared last time by killing the monster last time." I said loudly, giving my best glare back.

The giant eagle like bird roared at me before snapping it's beak at me, trying to rip my head off.

But it suddenly failed as it stopped to squawk in pain as it looked towards one of its wings, now slashed at the tendon so it could no longer fly.

The bird looked back at me, who had started to breathe hard. "But, I won't do that obviously. It would be better for both of us if we could cooperate, wouldn't you agree?"

The bird seemed confused. I looked it over and grinned to the bird. "So, how about you let me be your rider? It would be super convenient if I could fly to school right?"

Realizing my intent, the bird looked at me with a new light in his eyes. And just like that, reality, which was cracking slowly like last time, broke, and I was met with the once red filled cloud covered sky shattering into a now mid-afternoon clear one.

The bird also suddenly got up, it's wounds seemingly healed. I scowled. Was that another effect of being in the time loop? That all wounds suffered while inside would be healed once left?

I looked down at myself, and the theory seemed to be proving true. The pain of being sent flying into the wall was gone, and I could move freely once more.

The bird, who was awaiting my command, stayed stationary. I looked at him in curiosity, wondering what I was going to do with him. "I guess I should give you a name huh?" I mused to myself.

I wracked my brain trying to think of a name when I suddenly noticed something odd about the color patterns of the bird. Almost like...

I grinned as I looked at my new found friend. "I'll call you Raijin!"
