Time Traveling Hero

Chapter 51 - Hiro’s Hero Triumphs PT.13: Triumphs of New: A Hiro’s Excursion PT.5

"Get down!"

I dived forward, pressing down my two newly found companions to the ground, avoiding a blast of energy that took hair off from my growing afro.

"Damnit, not the fro…" I grumbled, sighing to myself. Well, I needed to get a haircut soon anyway. "Are you two alright?"

I looked down to see two Models, one small girl with dark yellow hair and a girl with short ocean blue hair.

"We're fine sir…" The blue-haired one said, and I nodded.

"Alright, you both have 10 seconds to tell me what you can do so we don't die."

"Eh!? Uh, okay! I can create flashes of light anywhere within a 100-meter radius," the dark yellowed hair girl started. "But I can only make them as big as myself, and I'm pretty small as is so…"

"I can create weapons made of water, and am able to pass them off to other people; however, I can only make up to 4 of them…"

I grabbed both of their arms and yanked them towards my right, and we landed behind some rubble as a loud explosion was let off from where we originally were. "Alright, one last thing: what're yah Model numbers?"

"Uh, is that-!" the blue haired girl started, and I glared her down.

"I'm not about to call you girl 1 and 2, so hurry it up. You have 5 seconds."

There was a moment of hesitation, before the blue haired girl spoke first. "I am Model 51391225."

"I'm Model 452295."

Seriously? That can't be a coincidence anymore. But I need one more to make sure…

"Alright, you're gonna listen to everything I say, got it?" I started, peeking my head above the rubble to survey the scene. "It's not your fault you got left behind, blame your squad for not following orders. Oh man am I gonna cuss them the hell out." I confirmed the situation and hid behind the rubble again. "One more thing 51391225. Does the sophistication of the weapons matter at all, or can you only make basic weapons?"

"Oh, I can make them as sophisticated as I want, so long as I have schematics for them. But all of the attacks will be water-based if you're trying to make guns or something."

"Great, make us three of these while we move!" I tossed Nymphy towards her before grabbing both girl's free hands and running away, watching the pile of rubble we were behind get obliterated.

But still, I thought as I glanced over at the insurmountable odds in front of me, if it wasn't for them, I wouldn't even be in this predicament in the first place…

--------------------------------------

After successfully shutting down the enemy's only way of gaining reinforcements, Anna and I joined the battle in the South and West side of the base, where the tides had finally started to turn in our favor. With the dinosaurs help, we had already taken over the Southern outskirts of the base. All that was left was to deal with the Western remnants of the ATF, or at least that's how it should've been anyway…

"Sir, progress report!" .

I turned to a dark-skinned woman in her early thirties who had dyed her short hair a mix of pink and her natural brown. Upon closer look her name seemed to be Danielle.

"Go on, tell me what's wrong," I grumbled, and I heard a strange noise to my right, which was where Anna was standing.

"Right. Well, just a lil while ago our squad was surrounded by all sides by the enemy; we were deep into the Western side you see."

I scowled. "How did that happen?"

"It seems the tactician that was fighting against the Eastern diversion squad told them to retake the Western area in an attempt to hold their ground. It seems they were going to rely on reinforcements coming from the time portal, but you already took care of that."

I nodded, starting to get lost in thought. This person, who might they be? If I hadn't decided to get rid of their only way of sending reinforcements, what might've happened to the battle situation? I shudder to think about it. "This tactician wouldn't happen to be still around?"

"No sir, it seems like the orders were remotely given. They are probably safe at the ATF headquarters…" She responded. "But as I was saying, we narrowly managed to escape from that predicament thanks to a diversion."

Damn, was hoping to get the guy out of our hair sooner rather than later, but it can't be helped. "A diversion? Is your squad alright?"

"Well, that's the thing. We had to sacrifice two of our Models, one of them being my own…" Danielle said, and I froze at her words.

"What?"

She tensed up as she heard me voice out that simple question and started to stammer out her explanation. "U-uh, y-you see sir, th-those two were most suited f-for the d-diversion and-!"

"Did you forget the one of the basic requirements of this operation?" I growled out, curling my hands into fists. "Number 1: Do not allow unnecessary harm to come upon any Models. Number 2: You support the models, not the other way around." I leaned in close before I said the third and final requirement. "And Number 3: Do not, under any circumstances, leave those girls out to die so you can live! Now, what seems to be the problem with what you just told me!?"

"Forgive me for being blunt sir, but they are easily replaceable," Danielle said firmly and for a brief moment I lost the ability to speak, only able to utter a single word:

"Huh!?"

I felt my anger swell and grow beyond the capacity in which I could contain it, and I felt something snap inside me before I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"Master, it is alright." I turned to Anna, who had the same emotionless calm look on her face. "It is alright."

I let out a hot sigh before turning back to Danielle, who seemed to be a lot meeker than before. "Where are they?"

"Eh? But sir, you can't possibly-!"

"Did I ask for your opinion? I asked where the hell are they!"

She took a slight step back before answering. "They're over near the wall, by some energy cannons." I watched her point towards a place in a distance, and I nodded.

"Master, what are you trying to do?"

"I'm gonna save them of course."

Anna had a brief moment of shock before shaking her head. "Anna is coming too."

"No, I have another job for you. If you don't succeed, I'll probably die here, so listen carefully."

Anna hesitated, biting the corner of her lip before nodding. "Very well, Anna will agree."

I nodded. "Good, and since your squad doesn't know how to follow orders, you'll be at the forefront of this plan, got it Danielle!?"

"But-!" She quickly caught herself once she got a look at my face, and she nodded. "As you wish sir."

"Good, now then, here's the plan…"

-------------------------------------------

"But still, isn't this a little too much for us three to handle?"

I had led us behind a broken mech and was surveying the situation around us. Surrounding us was about 5 squads worth of people, so around 100 people. They had already set up their white energy cannons all around us, but luckily for us the charge time was way longer than normal since we destroyed the base's main source of power.

Beyond just the cannons though, there about 5 mechs roaming around along with people scrambling around with their energy-based weaponry, all of them trying to kill us.

Yay.

I glanced up at the wall, which we were near to at the moment, and looked at an energy cannon directly in our line of sight. I gulped and looked down at the two models.

"Hey, you almost done over there? I say we have another 5 minutes before those cannons recharge and they start blasting away, and considering there's one right in front of us, I would really rather move soon."

The blue haired model nodded. "Give me 2 minutes and I'll be done. These things are harder to make then they look you know."

"I'm more amazed with you though Hiro," the dark yellow haired girl said. "How did you manage to give the enemies the slip like that?"

"That's a 'Hiro' secret young lady," I said winking at her. "But I don't know if it'll work a second time. You know what to do, right?"

She nodded. "Yep, I just gotta wait for your signal."

"And for you, when I use up what you've created, make the other thing you made for me earlier as quickly as possible."

The blue-haired girl sighed. "Yeah, I get it, but I have to ask, but why go through so much trouble just for us?"

"Well that's because I promised to make sure that no one would die during this operation, duh." Half-Lie.

"But there's no point in saving us, it's just a waste of energy. We're not worth the effort," she said, glancing up at me. "So, is that really all it is too it?"

"…You guys really are-!" I tensed up as I looked around, scowling as I saw the energy cannon from before start to charge its energy blast, aiming directly at us. "Damn, so soon? You better be finished with them now."

She nodded, handing me a water replica of the energy gun we have at the TRTF, along with the second thing I asked her to make, a water grenade. Holding the weapons felt rather odd, especially since it was made of water. The best way I can describe it how when the water runs in the sink and it stays contained in a single stream; it was like that except the water pressure is high enough for you to hold it, and the water doesn't go anywhere either.

"Alright, you two head over to the edge of the wall," I said, pointing towards the wall to our right. "Alright, move!"

We rushed away from the broken Mech, which vaporized from the blast of the energy cannon, and I watched as the two Models ran towards the shadow of the wall, and I took a deep breath before grinning.

Man, who would've thought that I would have to risk my life so many times in one day. Is every operation going to be like this? I narrowly dodged shots from an energy gun and shook my head. That's a conversation for another time.

I suddenly found myself surrounded, and I put my water gun down on the ground (I had put the grenade in my right pocket).

"Um, hi all!"

"How the hell did you get here kid!?" Someone I presumed to be the equivalent to our squad leader asked me that question. "I know for a fact that there were only two adversaries here when that last squad managed to escape, so where did you come from!?"

I put my left index finger towards my lip, thinking to myself. "Hmm, I walked?"

They all charged up their weapons, and I tensed up slightly at the noise. "Well, looks like someone isn't in a joking mood…"

"I mean it brat! Who are you, and how the hell did you get here!?"

"That's enough of that Bernard."

What the, where did that voice come from? The man who was speaking scowled, glancing down at his pocket. "But sir!"

"You should know by now that this must be their newly inducted Hero. Isn't that right?"

Bernard clicked his tongue before putting out his device, and a large holographic image of a person in silhouette appeared in midair.

"Well, this certainly is a surprise. I wasn't expecting a Hero to show up here of all places." He let out a small chuckle. "In any case, I gather you're the one who's been interfering with my well thought out strategy then?"

"Can't be too well thought out if a kid can screw it up," I said, shrugging.

He let out a loud laugh, and all the soldiers around me tensed up. "You're as ċȯċky as those damn Heroes, I'll give you that much. Hell, you might be the ballsiest one I've ever had the pŀėȧsurė of crushing!"

"Hmm, sorry about that," I said, putting both my hands in my pockets as I pouted. "But um, I don't plan on dying here today, so if you could just let me pass?"

"I would've considered it if you said please," the voice said. "Anyway, kill him."

"NOW!" I yelled out, and I crouched down, covering my eyes as Model 452295 caused a bright flash of light to illuminate the center of the circle I was in. Using that brief instant, I pulled the grenade out and ripped out the pin, throwing it towards the south.

"Boom."

A large explosion of water knocked the soldiers in its vicinity unconscious, and I grabbed my water gun before catching up to my two Model companions.

"I already have it ready!" She said, tossing me another grenade, and I pulled the pin again before throwing it ahead of me, blowing out one of the mech's legs in front of us.

"Are you sure about this!?" The blue haired girl yelled out, and I thrusted her head down so we could avoid a blast from an energy cannon.

"Of course, we just gotta go a little farther!" I yelled, shooting out a shot of highly condensed water, sending a soldier in front of me on their back. "Whatever you do, do not stop run-!"

I grabbed both of them and appeared about 2 meters to my right, starting to breath hard as I watched another blast of an energy cannon hit right where we just were. "As I was saying, don't stop running, no matter what!"

"Right!" They both yelled out, and I watched both of them start to take out the enemies in front of us. All that leaves now is-!

"YOU DAMNED BRAT! WHAT'RE YOU WAITING FOR, KILL HIM BEFORE HE BECOMES EVEN MORE OF A PROBLEM FOR US!"

Yeah, I thought I was beyond just a problem at this point. Why must they think so little of me?

I turned around before shooting out another high pressure water bullet, nailing the man named Bernard in the back of the head, causing him to fall over. I already had a bad enough experience dealing with a person at your level, like hell I need to deal with you now. Although, there should be at least more somewhere…

I felt all my hairs rise up, and I dodged forward, an electric blast skimming some more hair off the top.

"DAMNIT, NOT THE FRO AGAIN!" I roared out, and I turned to the culprit, a woman controlling a mech in the distance, having just fired off what looked like a railgun.

Shit, that's pretty bad. I turned forwards again and ran up to the two Models.

"Is something the matter Hiro?"

"We gotta move quickly before that-!"

As if right on cue, the mech jumped through the air and landed in front of us, causing us to nearly lose our footing from the way the ground shook from the impact.

"I've got you now little Hero!"

"Before she catches up," I grumbled, staring at the foe. Well, there's always one way to go with big enemies like this.

"Under we go you two!" I rushed underneath the mech's legs, much to the pilot's surprise, the two girls following right behind me.

"Sorry, I don't have time to deal with you!" I yelled out, appearing a little forward as her fist slammed down right behind us, letting out a crackle of electricity.

"Hey Hiro, this is pretty bad right?" the yellow haired model asked.

"No shit Sherlock! Damnit, I wish I watched Mecha Anime so I could know how to deal with this bullshit!"

"Huh!? Enough nonsense, you got a plan to make sure we don't die!?" The blue haired girl yelled out, shooting out another water bullet.

"Same as before, just don't stop running forward!"

"Hey, since when was that allowed!?" The pilot yelled out, crackling white electricity covering her railgun as she aimed it at us.

"All's fair in Love and War, and I'm fresh outta Love to share with yah!" I yelled out, attempting to shoot at the pilot, but the target was too small, and my lack of combat experience was starting to become increasingly obvious to me.

"Now then, let's try this one more time!" The woman yelled out, and I watched the railgun start to charge up another shot.

I can't dodge this one, there are too many enemies around here. I looked forward again and exhaled sharply.

I slammed my foot down, pivoting towards the mech, much to the pilot's surprise. "Oh, are you trying to be noble and sacrifice yourself?"

"Whatever you two do, don't stop running forward, you hear me!?" I yelled out, watching the railgun aim directly at me.

"Are you crazy!? We can't just-!"

"That's an order you two, now go!"

I couldn't see their faces, but they probably look extremely worried right about now. "Don't worry, I have no plans on dying today!"

"Hmph, the gun says otherwise, but whatever. Have fun in the afterlife!"

And right when was the shot was fired, I threw my only means of defending myself, my very own high pressure water bomb.

BOOM!!!

"AGH!"

I watched the explosion blow away the railgun while I got sent flying on my back, skidding to a stop, groaning.

How much? I looked up to see the mech having lost its right arm and about half of its right leg. I managed to pick myself up, holding my side as I whistled at my handiwork.

"You, how the hell did you do that!?" The woman screeched out, and I let out a shaky chuckle.

"The weapon was basically like a water balloon at high pressure. So, what would happen if something like that exploded, hmm? I'm pretty proud of that one myself."

"This isn't over yet!" She yelled out, and I watched her giant mech leap up in the air, losing the remainder of its right leg in the process.

Seriously? I could only watch as I saw her left arm crackle with white electricity, about to pound me to smithereens.

I've got nothing up my sleeve. I've already used up all the gear from previous encounters, and like hell I could dodge that with this many people around. I let out a sigh.

"I've got nothing left. It's now or never Anna."

"NOW DIE FOR OUR ORGANIZATION!"

I felt a loud boom echo around me as I watched a yellow shield form right before the attack was going to hit me.

"Master is too reckless."

"I know."

"Master should not do something this stupid ever again."

I let out a smile as I saw the familiar mane of silver hair in front of me, the girl who I had the utmost faith in.

"Sorry Anna, I'll try to do better next time."

"Wh-what the hell is-!"

"Leave please, Master and Anna are having an important conversation."

I watched Anna use her shield to throw the mech towards the wall, it crumbling to pieces on impact.

Anna turned to me, frowning ever so slightly on her emotionless face. "Master is weak, so please rely on Anna more."

I watched as the majority of the squads ran past us to deal with the last of the ATF, and I let out a breath of relief as my two Model companions came running back to me.

"You-you're still alive!?" The blue haired model seemed dumbfounded, and I shrugged.

"Told yah I wasn't gonna die today."

They both rushed me, nearly tackling me with their hug.

"Why would you risk your life for us like that?" Model 452295 asked, looking up at me.

"What sorta guy would be willing to risk his life for a couple of disposable Models like us!?" Model 51391225 also asked, tears in both of their eyes.

"Is it really that hard to understand?" I murmured. "Well, the answer is pretty obvious."

I grinned, giving them a thumbs up. "It's because I care about all you Models, duh! So, don't worry about a thing, Emily, Debbie!"

Both of their eyes grew wide in shock as I gave them their names, and tears started to fall from their eyes as they wailed into my ċhėst as they started to apologize, and I could only look up at the afternoon sky.

Even though you two are crying, I thought, I wanna cry myself, for not being to do much more than this.

"Ah, looks like I managed to run far enough in the end anyway…"

And thus continued his Triumph…

-------------------------------------------

I was now looking up towards an orange sky, signs that evening was almost upon us.

"Hey Anna?"

"Yes Hiro?"

"How long has the fighting been going on?"

"About 12 hours now."

"You wouldn't happen to see any invisible enemies or anything like that, would you?

I heard a strange noise before Anna responded. "Negative; Anna does not sense enemies of either the invisible or visible kind."

I took a deep breath and asked the question that was weighing the heaviest in my head. "… How many casualties?"

Anna let out a small smile. "100 injured, 0 fatalities."

I couldn't help but let out a grin as I stood up from the pile of scrap metal, and I brushed myself off before looking at Anna.

"You wanna do the honors?"

"Master should do it, since Master worked hard."

I nodded, chuckling to myself as I gazed towards the view in front of me.

Surrounding us was trashed mechs, captured enemies, piles of scrap metal, a ruined (but captured) base, grinning comrades, excited and freed dinosaurs, a tense atmosphere, the setting sun, and most importantly…

"I hereby declare Operation Dinosaur Excursion, COMPLETED!!"

"OOOOOHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!"

The sounds of roaring dinosaurs, screaming comrades, a smiling Anna…

"AH HELL YEAH!!!"

And one Hiro, jumping for joy.

"WE DID IT!!!!!"

-------------------------------------------

In what would later be known as the Battle of the Jurassic, newly appointed Hero Hiro led the operation to a glorious success in a mere 12 hours, successfully freeing the dinosaurs and capturing both the enemy base and their leader Cyrene.

Despite having no combat experience, Hiro led the charge innumerable times, changing the course of the battle with his radical strategies, even creating a unit made entirely of dinosaurs that he called the Triceratops Armoured Division, them being critical in the capturing of Cyrene.
