Chapter 23 - Database

Aurina continued to type in series of commands in her laptop furiously, her speed almost looked like a blur to the boys who only have a normal speed. And soon, without inputting any information in the special computer, she made her way in the database.

"Finally!" Aurina cheered. It's only been fifteen minutes since she turned on the big computer, and now she had already infiltrated the database.

"Say, what did you want to see?" Aurina said without turning her head. She happily explored the database as if she was stalking her idol's personal page.

"A recording from two hours ago. Archery club second floor." Rachzi requested as he leaned closer to the big monitors.

"All right, give me a moment" she looked around in the database until she found it, then she played them on the big monitor.

"Aah, someone really banned the access to this video." Aurina turned her attention back to her own laptop. Her fingers moved furiously on the keypad. Not even a minute later, she gained access to the recording.

It was played right after the girl get pierced by the arrow.

"Aww, that must have hurt!" Aurina said as she replayed the recording to determine where the arrow came from. "Judging by where the arrow came from, the culprit must have stood near camera number 6." After she inputted the command, the recording from CCTV's number 6 got displayed in the big monitors.

It shows the rails guard on the second floor. There's no one there, but they could see the moving Archery Members club on the first floor. Plus they could also see the panicked members when the girl, Emma, got injured.

"Aurin! Replay that again!" Aurina did as Alfizar told her to. "Look, here," Alfizar pointed to the monitor where the guardrails were.

"What the-, it's impossible!" Dioz who haven't said much since he knew about the relationship of the three Leonore, exclaimed in surprise. Dioz was the type of person who didn't believe in ghost, so this kind of recording is highly unbelievable for him.

"Don't tell me..." Henry leaned closer and asked Aurina to replay the recording.

"Uwaaah, Razi, your club really have a vengeful ghost," Frans whispered creepily. In spite of that, his voice could be heard by everyone in the room. Usually, they would do something about Frans, except this time, no one cares about his filterless mouth.

By now, everyone could see it. Somewhere close to the guardrails, an arrow was suddenly shot straight toward Emma's leg. The arrow just appeared out of the thin air. All of them could see the correct time and date of the CCTV'S footage, and it didn't seemed like the recording was tampered with. All of it seems so weird; just like it has just come out of a horror movie.

"This is not funny guys. It's definitely not April." Dioz could feel goosebumps behind his neck. He might not believe in ghost but looking at this gives him the creeps.

"Who are you trying to deceive, Dioz? Yourself?" Frans glanced at Dioz's freaked out expression. After knowing each other for quite a long time. Frans, Rachzi, and Vianzo knew that Dioz's unwillingness to believe in supernatural things was born out of fear of something he was unable to comprehend.

That's right, Dioz has the fear of ghost.

Alfizar could guess the hidden meaning behind Frans words just now, even though usually he would have just laugh, he didn't find it as funny right now, knowing how serious the situation is.

"It's not a ghost. I saw the culprit, and I even managed to chase him" True to Alfizar's words, the monitor showed Alfizar running up the escalator to a door that couldn't be seen by the camera.

"Aurina, is there any camera outside the hallway? Maybe we could see someone coming out of the door." Alfizar suggested. Aurina nodded and set to work.

Not long after she found the recording and played it. But no one came in or out of the Archery's club room in 5 minutes, other than Alfizar who suddenly slammed the door open, looking for the culprit.

"That's definitely weird. The chain is broken." Vianzo commented "We have no clue now. What will we do?" Before Vianzo could finish talking, Aurina's next word make his eyes widened in surprise.

"This recording is faked by someone." Aurina zoomed in the recording. Her fingers pointed at a small and almost unnoticeable pixels' of line. They could tell that someone had tampered with the recording to make it look as they wish it to be.

"It's not the best work if I could spot it this fast." Aurina's voice sounded like she was ridiculing the one who did the work.

"What's the use of that? We still can't find the culprit. There's no lead," Vianzo sighed. He looked irritated with the whole thing.

"Not really~," she said playfully.

"I guess none of you is aware of the existence of the backup database." Aurina turned her head to stare at the wide-eyed Vianzo with a proud smile. She giggled and turned her head back to the monitors.

"Can you access the backup database?" Alfizar questioned her. It would save him from a lot of headaches if they could find out the culprit. Because the longer unknown things remain unknown, the more restless he felt.

"I can't." The answer came so quick but the time Alfizar need to process was a lot." The backup database got the highest level security wall. With my current skill, I couldn't just infiltrate blindly. I don't want to get expelled from the school." Aurina shook her head.

She began to clean up her traces in the database, careful to not leave anything that might lead to her infiltration being exposed.

"But, that doesn't mean I couldn't." Aurina turned off the computer after disconnecting it from her laptop and small device. Aurina held up the small device in front of them, "Give me some time. After I reprogram this, the chance of me infiltrating the database safely would increase a lot. Although they would probably notice me, but after the upgrade, I will make sure that they couldn't track it back to us."

Aurina looked deep into Alfizar's eyes as if she was asking for his permission. But from what Alfizar saw in her eyes, there was no room to disagree. He just found out Aurina's skill as a hacker today. But if he believe in the Vision that he suddenly got an hour ago, then Aurina will be a great hacker one day. One of the best!

And for that, Alfizar was willing to believe in his sister. She had grown up. She has become beautiful and independent. So what if the school could track them? Uncle Zio could easily clean them up and if worst come to worst, they could just move again.

Thinking back to that Vision, he lost Aurina. He could still feel the chaotic emotions that came from the vision; and at the graveyard, her tombstone, two years from now... Two years...

Whether it was now or two years from now on, or even years to come, he will protect her from whatever danger that might come. Not only Aurina, Henry, who also died in one of his vision. He will prevent them!

"I understand." A smile stretched out on Alfizar's face.
