The battlefield is filled with the sounds of sword fights and magical destruction.

The air is thick with dust and the smell of death, and corpses lie on the ground everywhere.

I have been  on  many battlefields for two years now, but my eyes have never become used to this gruesome sight.

Wherever I look, I see bodies piled on top of each other, the ground I tread on is slick with blood and guts, and the constant cries of despair shake my eardrums in a hellscape.

If I got used to this, I would no longer be human.

Fighting back the nausea and guilt I felt, I looked down at the battlefield from the top of the hill where the main camp was located.

"It's almost over."

Schneizel muttered, looking down at the battlefield as it approached its final phase.

As he said, the war was about to end with Arcadia's victory.

Arcadia's forces, superior in numbers, were encircling the last remaining enemy forces on the plains.

On level ground with no barriers, the battle would be settled as both sides' forces had done, unless something very irregular occurred.

As an exception, there are a few enemies who use their overwhelming individual strength to penetrate the thinly encircled areas, but Schneizel will take care of such cases himself.

Therefore, Arcadia, which outnumbered and completed the encirclement, was unlikely to be defeated.

"Norwin, what would you do now? "

Schneizel asks in a voice alone, keeping his eyes on the battlefield.

"I don't think I have to do anything,"

"But not if you are aiming for perfection according to the theory. There is one place you should be careful."

There is one place you should be careful.

I looked around the battlefield once more.

The enemy's main forces have already lost their ability to break through and should have no energy left to even get out of the encirclement.

I don't see any outstanding pieces like Schneizel's, and there's no problem at all in leaving the lid on this.

If so, Schneizel's worry is outside of the siege. The only thing that could affect the situation is...

"Oh, a surprise attack?"

"Correct".

"The forest on the right side of the perimeter from our point of view. This time it is not possible, but if the enemy's separate unit is hiding, they may attack the flank of the encirclement.'

"Then how do we stop them? Well, I'm going to go in, and there's no way I'm going to use the boy's magic to get out of it. You're going to have to use normal strategy."

"Depending on the size of the separate force, I don't think it will be a problem just to alert the entire siege."

It is true that there is a forest where the enemy can hide, but it is quite small from what I saw. There are certainly forests where the enemy can hide, but from the looks of it, they are quite small.

 Well...

"Just in case there are a few elite soldiers hiding there, if we want to be perfect, I''d move the lid of the encirclement right in front of us, just in case there is a surprise attack.

If I remove the lid, won't the enemy inside flow over to us?

"We are taking the hill, so there is no problem. The enemy has no physical strength to begin with, so they will be knackered just by running down this steep slope. They will get caught between us from the front and the rear and finish us off.'

When he answered the question with this conclusion, a murmur erupted from the military officers in the main camp.

"I thought the corps leader had lost his mind,"The actuality that he is really eight years old? I didn't realize he had such a good tactical sense."

These were the kinds of evaluations I had grown tired of hearing over the past two years.

As I traveled from one battlefield to the other, I would interrupt a stranger or an unknown organization each time and watch a lot of battles beside Schneizel.

I have observed Schneizel's battles from the side, stealing his knowledge and experience, and at times, as is the case now, answering the questions he gives me, and every time I do so, I get this reaction from adults who don't know me.

To be honest, it's not pleasant.

Because this is not my ability. It is too easy to read a situation where the enemy is already limited, a battlefield dominated by Schneizel.

I should be praised only when I can start a battle from a five-minute situation and choke it so much by myself.

Well, I understand best that it is difficult to do so.

The views I have just expressed are based on the knowledge and judgment that most general commanders possess.

The only reason people around me were taken aback by it is because I am an eight-year-old boy. Compared to the average commander, I am by no means exceptional.

Therefore, no matter how good my connections were with Schneizel and others, the world would never allow a child like me to take on someone else's life.

 It would be unforgivable.

---I am a child, after all, and this will always be a drag on me.

 What should I do?

There is nothing I can do about it. The only solution is the passage of time.

"Well, it's over."

Below us, the enemy forces were finally waving the white flag. It was a good thing, because they would have been crushed in the siege if they continued.

So now the war was over, and this time it was won.

I finally let out a sigh as the tension drained out of me.

"Boy, don't let your guard down when this is over."

"Oh, I'm sorry."

." "Any slackness at the top will be felt immediately at the bottom."

 That's certainly not good.

I'm not used to this. It's a bad habit of mine to get a sense of relief when an unfamiliar fight is over.

I have to fix it.

'I'm sorry. I'll fix it."

"Oh. Next time you will be leading a squad of ten, so you can't keep doing the same thing you've been doing."

---Suddenly, Schneizel said in a whisper.

What?

"What? You mean you didn't expect this?"

"Yes. I thought I was going to be observing for a long time."

"Well, the official position doesn't change that much. you was observing beside me, but now you are beside Vassel.'

"Isn't he supposed to be in the capital right now?"

"I'm trying to call him right now. When he arrives, you will take control of the unit he leads ostensibly."
