After meeting Argiano on the main street, we were at the residence of the Marquis of Strahl, the nobleman who governs the fortress city of Ausstadt.

If things were to go the same way as before, the first thing we would do would be to meet the head of the family and introduce ourselves. In a noble society that values civility above all else, there is no such thing as a first meeting without a polite greeting.

However, contrary to this established theory, it was not the head of the family himself, but his deputy who greeted us when we arrived at the residence of the Marquise de la Strahl.

According to the deputy, the Marquis of Strhal was currently on his way to a business meeting with a large merchant with whom he has a close relationship.

Normally, Schneizel should have the priority.

Everyone thought so at one time or another, but...

But once we were told that the big merchant was the owner of a trading company that mainly deals in weapons, and that he was negotiating to buy a large amount of weapons for the next war, we couldn't blame him.

The scale of the next battlefield that was predicted.

What kind of formation would they take to the battlefield?

How many soldiers could be mobilized?

The scale of the enemy forces and who would be the main generals?

 When will the war begin?

The necessary preparations will vary depending on these conditions, but there is no need to have an abundance of weapons. It would be worse if we were to run out during the war.

Our arrival was not on time, and it could not be helped if we had such an errand ahead of time.

After receiving some brief instructions from the deputy and a tour of the house, we waited for the head of the family to return home...

"Mr. Schneizel?э

"Oh, what's up?"

Before heading to our assigned rooms, I called out to Schneizel,

ЭI want to go out for a bit, but should I not do that today?"

эI've heard that the Marquis of Strahl is going to be late, and I don't mind. Do you need something?"

ЭNo, I'm just going for a walk. э

Actually, I'm not. I'm going to try to get in touch with Arthur somehow and see how things are going.

I don't see any reason why I should be so obsessed with Arthur at this point, and that's a problem that prevents me from taking action.

"I'd better not do that, though. Remember that beautiful lady I saw earlier? It would be bad if I run into her."

'You think she's related to the assailant?"

'I think so. If she comes in contact with you when you are alone, I can't help you."

"---- understands. Then I'll just wander around the house."

If there is a proper reason and it is refused, I have no choice but to follow it. I decided to give up walking out of the house.

"Oh. If you need anything, call me immediately. I can come to this house".

"I understand."

If I can't move right now, there's not much I can do. I'll go check the rooms that have been assigned to me.

I'm sure Misha will be rearranging the furniture to his liking as soon as he can.

Or it wouldn't be a bad idea to do some training now, would it? I want to practice my spear, and if we search the library here, we might be able to find some special books that we can't find anywhere else.

With that in mind, I said goodbye to Schneizel and headed for my room.

"Helping Misha, huh?"

She's always been a great help to me, and I should at least take some of the burden off of her at times like this.

It's easy to forget with her age, but she is still a child by Japanese norms. I feel bad leaving so much to such a child.

Yes, I know. I do---.

As I was thinking about this while walking down the hallway, I suddenly felt an intense pain that seemed to burn through my stomach.

"Ah, eh---?"

My whole body lost its strength. I looked down to see a hand piercing my stomach, and for some reason...

"No, Mr. Norwin. You must always be on your guard."

The voice coming from behind me was the same Arjano's that I had heard just a few moments ago.
