"Who told you my name?"

"Arjano told me."

""Arjano? Not Arjanne?"

Fail's eyes widened as if he had not expected it.

"Yes," I said, "he also called himself Arjanne. He also called himself Arjanne, but I think it was an alias. His name is Arjano."'

He? Hm? Wait a minute. This Arjano you speak of is a male, correct?

'Yes."

"I see. I understand."

While it is not known whether Arjano is a man or a woman, let's assume that Arjano is his real name for the moment.

The one thing I do know is that the Fail in front of me may be in a weaker position than Arjano.

I'm on the back foot when I am surprised by his name and appearance. Of course, Fail may possess a great deal of knowledge that I do not, but it is highly likely that he is not as knowledgeable as Arjano.

And in that case, is he inferior to Verdra, who leads Arjano, or even to Nicholas, who has made a name for himself alongside Verdra?

Feil has previously said, 'The first Arthur was buried in darkness. Veldra succumbed to despair and reversed. Nicholas gave up in the face of immense darkness and made a choice to move on. I wonder what your choice is?" He uttered.

I thought Fail was a strong character because he was a man who said and did things that seemed to know the mysteries of these three people.

---What should I do about Fail?

Why did I come back to this mysterious place in the first place?

"Then I guess it makes sense. So Arjanne was looking for a vessel ."

"What is a vessel?"

I asked Fail who seemed to be satisfied with something.

I guess by the looks of it, you've been left in the dark.

I kind of know that my father, Nicholas, requires something from me, but ------

"Haha, something, somehow. I'm not sure that word means a shred of anything, you know. When you don't understand what you need, you may be dancing around with unnecessary information. If that's the case, it's better not to know in the first place."

"You think you know everything?"

"Not everything. But I know some things, and I've seen enough to be able to guess what I don't know. and maybe I've done enough to know that my actions have been for nothing."

"The consequences?"

"I told you before, didn't I? I am a sore loser. I'm a loser as they are. I'm a challenger after they are."

I think Fail had said something like that when I came here before.

I was wondering to what he lost. If I'm right...

"Was it the Evil God who defeated you?"

'---"

A moment of silence. Fail's eyes widened and he froze. Then suddenly he opens his mouth and starts laughing.

Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! Evil god, evil god. I wish it was just an enemy of that level. If it were, I wouldn't be here right now.

Wait a minute! It's an evil god, right? Evil god is that level?

The Evil God is the last boss of the game . The actuality that the evil god possessed Crescencia is the exact same thing.

 "That's the extent of it"?

That powerful enemy whom all the characters in the game defeated?

"You really don't know anything, do you?"

"That's right! I don't know! So tell me! If I do something about the evil god, won't it be over?"

"I could tell you, but... won't you be broken?"

"Broken?"

'There have been enough people in the past to come here. Everyone was a hero at that period of time, even though the times were different. But, you know, they didn't succeed"

'You mean it was a defeat?"

"No. They were broken before they could fight."

" What do you mean, "Broken before the fight"?

'You look like you don't get it. I see. I see."

'What do you mean?"

"It's simple. The enemy is too powerful. What would you do if you spent your whole life trying to defeat someone only to find out that the greatest enemy still standing in front of you was, in fact, a small fish who was no more than a starter?"

 --- "No way, no, but."

"The Evil God, you say?"

"Yeah. The first Arthur, right? Yes, that's right. The "tip of the iceberg," as they call it."

"Oh!"

Why does Fail say that term?

On the day of his departure from Nicholas' mansion, Nicholas uttered the proverb, 'Two birds with one stone.

I never thought I would hear that same thing in a place like this.

At the time, I assumed that because the game was made in Japan, such phrase was partially reflected in this world, but maybe it is not true.

But maybe it is different. Maybe this world is affected by something that came from the outside, an entity like me?

"I thought to myself, "Oh, I knew it. That's your reaction, too, isn't it?

"So, the original Arthur?"

"Yes, he was. A member of a mythical civilization that died out in the age of myths."

Huh?

 What? Wait.

 Mythological age? Ruined?

 What the hell is that?

I thought I was a reincarnated being or something along those lines.

What? A civilization that perished in the Age of Myths? You mean this world is Earth, and it's far in the future?

No. I can't catch up with understanding. Alcue is a game, right? Why is this situation happening?

'You're one of them, aren't you? Calling up a mythical hero who is superior to the current human race and..."

No, I'm not! I'm not that kind of... ah..."

I was so shocked that I almost lost myself and told him my own secret.

It was such an unbelievable thing to hear.

I thought this world was an game,------, but no, there was actually such a sci-fi setting that was just not mentioned in the main game?

What the fuck, ?

'No?" That's strange. That Nikolas wouldn't connect with you for no reason. You, connected, would surely be the most suitable one. No, but if you ask me, it sure doesn't feel like you have that much talent, or is it something that just overshadows your natural talent?"

---Calm down. Calm down at least for a moment.

The way Fail sums it up, the Evil God is just a part of something even more dangerous, and I'm the most suitable person called to this world to defeat such a foe.

But I don't even know how much to trust this information.

According to Fail's perception, the best suited person for the job would be a hero like Schneizel or Lucy.

But I am not like that. I may be able to fool myself with hard work and a high mental age, but at heart I am an ordinary person, no matter how hard I try.

How should I view this gap?

Well, is it too much to think too deeply about something for which there is no basis for judgment?

 One thing is for sure.

'It doesn't matter how strong the enemy is. I will definitely fight."

If that is the only way to save Crescencia, I won't even doubt.

"Oh, I see. There's that kind of selection."

I thought I saw a small smile on Fail's face as he looked at me. He seemed to have gained some sort of confidence through me, and he had a very sunny, yet still resigned expression on his face.

'Then this is just the beginning."

"The beginning?"

"Yes. You can either be the guide, or you can be absorbed by despair, or you can remain here like me, a sore loser. I look forward to your future stories.'

"What? Um, no, I want you to tell me a lot of stuff. ------"

"You don't have to tell me, I'll get involved if I don't like it. Besides..."

"Besides?"

"Maybe you already know everything."

Just after Fail smiles at me, the world of darkness begins to fall apart.

My consciousness begins to fade along with it.

"Hmmm..."

Just before I completely lost my five senses, including my vertical senses and consciousness, I thought I heard an ugly, cracking chuckle that seemed to carry a black, distorted emotion.

'Oh, you're awake, huh?"

Immediately after I came to my senses, I was greeted by the voice of Arjano (the female one).

Her inorganic, fake beauty occupied my entire field of vision. Her long platinum blonde hair hung down to cover my face.

To explain the situation in a few words, Arjano had me on my knees and was looking right up into my face.

Yeah, that's right. I would have had a crush on her if I had only seen this sight, but this guy was probably a guy, and I had never seen anything like it before.

 , and even before that...

"I'm sorry I almost killed you earlier."

He was the one who tried to kill me.

 Fear comes before love.

'What is this place?'

'Where? Where do you think we are?'

Arjano smiles at my question. He had this kind of personality in the game , but when he does it in real life, it's really pissing me off.

I can't talk back to him because I'm in a position to be killed at any time.

 So, what should I do?

 This is probably a kidnapping.

I looked around and tried to figure out what was going on...

 That's when it happened.

" Hey, master ! I brought you something to eat!"

 I heard Arthur's voice.
