Luxurious and gorgeous. No matter how many times I see the Royal Castle, that is the only word I can use to describe it. It is by far the only architectural structure that stands out from the aristocratic district, the heaven of this world.

This is the center of the kingdom, the place where the royal family resides. It is excessively splendid, but I wonder if it is possible to live a proper life in such a glittering space.

It feels special to visit occasionally, but it is a sight for sore eyes to be surrounded by this spectacle every day.

I wonder what Cresencia is thinking when she is here.

"What's up, kid? Are you feeling sick?"

'No, it's not like that."

It may look like a royal castle, but to me it looks like a labyrinth of human desires.

It's a labyrinth of aristocrats whirling around with their scheming and scheming. Once you approach it because of its beautiful appearance, you feel as if you will be swallowed up by the whirlpool of power.

In fact, in Arcadia , vested interests and big aristocrats were sometimes an obstacle to the story.

The world is so big, why stick to that narrow box garden?

Not long after we arrived at the royal castle, one of the gatekeepers lined up in front of the main gate approached us.

"It's me. I think we're on the same page. ------"

I'm sure you've heard from me. Please wait a moment while we verify your invitation."

The guards were so tight that even Schneizel, a well-known person in the royal family, had to be on high alert.

During the waiting period, their belongings were inspected without fail, and after confirming that all were safe, everyone was finally allowed to ascend to the castle.

On the way through the main gate to the hall where the dinner party was to be held, I asked Schneizel, who was walking in the lead.

"Is the guard always this tight?"

'It's not like it's in stone. People come from all over the country and abroad for martial arts tournaments, and recently there was a big fight in the underworld, you know? That's what they' re trying to guard here".

"I see. I see. It seems that they are really careful about being thorough even when they are dealing with familiar faces".

"Almire's a good friend of mine. You see that magic she's doing?"

"Oh, I see."

If there is an enemy who can duplicate her magic, familiarity does not equal safety.

In fact, the more suspicious such a person is, the more suspicious it becomes. If so, why do they have to do this much to prevent even the worst from happening?

"Well, well, isn't it the Commander of the Legion!"

A voice suddenly grated on my ears, causing my shoulders to shake. I looked over to see an extremely well-dressed aristocrat leaning in close to Schneizel, giving him a firm handsh.

It's easy to see, without even thinking, that he's a man who likes power.

It is probably because of the power he possesses that he approaches Schneizel. Schneizel would never like this kind of man...

"Count Birdie, it's been a while since you were invited to a party three months ago, hasn't it?"

"Yes, sir! I'm surprised you remember such a humble affair".

"I don't attend such gatherings".

 What?

My eyes widened in shock at the sight of them chatting with a race of people I absolutely despise.

I looked back at Saras and Lucy , and they too looked surprised.

'Is this what nobles do for a living?

'Well,------ I definitely don't want to do this."

"------ me neither."

"Lucy never used to talk She's always leaving it up to me."

"---, you're always so helpful."

"You are."

The familiar composition of Saras blaming Lucy, who is acting all innocent with her blank face. While being soothed by this, I listened to the conversation of Schneizel and the others.

For a while, the conversation was not particularly meaningful. Schneizel is not the type of person who talks well, so the fact that they continue to engage in meaningless banter is a sign that they have some kind of connection.

Maybe this aristocrat named Birdie has an element of respectability.

And Schneizel would cut him off without mercy if he was really a meaningless person.

I was casually observing him when my eyes met Birdie's. He was probably aware of me from the start. P

"Oh? Sir, is this boy your apprentice?"

"Yes, he is. Boy, this is Mr. Birdie, the head of the Brooklyn count family."

'I've heard of the Countess Brooklyn ------ before. "

If so, I wonder if their relationship with Schneizel is such that they supply good quality weapons to the military at a reasonable price.

If so, it's no wonder they are close friends.

"How do you do? My name is Norwin von Endenberg, and I am a apprentice of Schneizel's corps commander."

"Well, well, you are a brilliant and intelligent boy, aren't you? Not unlike others"

'Shut up."

"You've got to be kidding me. I am complimenting this boy".

If the relationship between the two is as I expected, it is Birdie's side that holds the cash. I wonder if that's the reason behind this light-hearted exchange that transcends the differences in status.

I'll check it out later... hmm?

I felt their eyes on me and turned around to see the twins all staring at me with half-open eyes.

"What the hell?"

"You're totally steeped in nobility, aren't you?"'

"Are you a ------ statesman?"

"I'm not, and that's why Lucy only uses sarcasm when she calls out to me"!

"Your daughter is looking well, too. She looks just like your Excellency, doesn't she?"

Birdie naturally joins our conversation in our circle. I'm done rating him for the worst first impression, but it's great that he doesn't make me more uncomfortable in this situation.

No, I still don't like it. Why do I have to do this aristocratic stuff even before we get to the hall ?

I kept moving, thinking so, and when we finally arrived at the hall, I realized the reason why Birdie continued to casually follow along.

There were many nobles gathered in the hall.

There were no less than several dozen of them. I was surprised that there were so many members of the upper class in this country.

Birdie must have let everyone know that he was on good terms with Schneizel by accompanying him.

Schneizel's power has a lot of value.

And as the man in charge of the business flow, it should be easy for him to generate money based on that connection.

"Huh. This is why I hate nobles. They twist and turn difficult things into even more difficult things."

The nobles attending the party were watching each other. They are bound by power, not being free to decide who will speak to Schneizel next, and even that.

That is why I was comforted by the small shadow that ran as fast as it could across the stiff nobles.

"Hey, Norwin!"

' Raymond, good to see you again."

I look across at Birdie, who is keenly aware of our relationship, and say to my friend, THAT .

"Raymond was invited, too?"

'No, I'm with my mom and dad. I heard they are both very big shots in the military."

"I see. The Eisenburg Marquises are famous for their military prowess."

"Waldheim is more famous than us."

"Oh, I see... i stop it. Why are you making it sound like we're comparing powers?"

"I'm sorry."

The happy face of Raymond suddenly turns into a shrug and apologizes.

"No, no, no, it wasn't anybody's fault."

I don't know. Oh, hello to you too, Mr. Saraswathi and Lucy? Good evening?"

"Raymond: "It's kind of time delicate, isn't it? Either way, I'm fine."

"------ is..."

"Don't say you'll have it just because you can't have it either way, okay?

'------I won't say it and I didn't say it. Norwin, what do you think I am?"

"Attribute stupid younger sibling character."

"------What's that?"

"You know."

Raymond spoke up, taking a moment out of our silly conversation.

"Hey, hey, Norwin! My mom and dad are over there, do you want to at least say hello?"

Raymond. That's quite a bomb. Look all around .

Eisenburg and Waldheim are both big aristocrats, and they don't say hello lightly! It's a connection those scary people want down their throats!

But Saraswati, who doesn't know what's going on inside my head...

" I owe you a debt of gratitude for fighting with me, so let's at least say hello."

'I agree ------."

With that said, she started to walk after Raymond. I had no choice but to follow.

At this time, I noticed from a panoramic view of the whole place that the nobles seemed to be gathered together in some close degree by other people in power.

The more luxuriously dressed are the prerequisite, and the relatively plain ones are near the entry of the hall. The more glamorous ones are concentrated in the back of the hall.

Well, it's hard to deal with someone who is clearly of a different rank, isn't it?

For this reason, even if we didn't follow Raymond, we would have greeted them anyway, since we were all seated in similar locations.

"Your Excellency."

'Good evening, Commander of the Legion Schneizel.:

We joined the best-dressed group gathered at the back of the hall and immediately looked for Raymond's parents. But they were probably sitting somewhere else, and the old steward, Raymond's caretaker, arrived in their place.

"Hey, Mom and Dad are not here.

" They are having an important business meeting at the other table.:

"Hmm, they could have stayed with at least for a moment like this."

The old butler, who seems to be in charge of Raymond's care, smiles annoyed.

"It is because this is a time like this. There are certain arrangements that can only be made now, when so many nobles are gathered."

"I don't understand."

"You will learn that soo "

"Yes, I don't like learning. Anyway, old men , this is my friend . Norwin!"

Yes, I know who he is . We met briefly recently .

---And so the party began, with as many greetings and with the number of new encounter

The food is good, but it is not enjoyable.

The aristocrats who greeted us had children the same age as me and Saraswati and Lucy by their side, casually asking how their children were doing.

I was not good at the kind of superficial socializing that is peculiar to the aristocracy.

Perhaps it was that. The roundabout conversation in which they hide their true intentions reminds me of Japan and reminds me of the misery of those days.

So, I managed to bear my unhappiness for a few minutes before joining the party.

"His Majesty the King is here. Please rise and clap your hands."

As soon as the person who seemed to be a great man said this, all the nobles in the hall stopped chatting and eating and stood up.

Then they all turned their attention to the entrance of the hall.

The first person who opened the luxurious door and appeared was Almire, a female magician with a fox face. Starting with a man who could not have been better chosen as a guard, next, the knights of the kingsguard entered the room with a nervous atmosphere.

And after that, the main royal family finally came.

His Majesty the King, his wife, a child who looks like a prince, and --- Ta ta ta ta ta! Crescencia!

Mine, well not mine, but Cress' is here !

Oh my God, she's so cute today! Wow, I'm glad I came. I think I'm going to go home now. ------... What, huh?

Right next to Crescencia, there was a girl with silver hair that I recognized. Pale brown skin, a rarity in this country, and a flexible, fair body reminiscent of a cat. Her wild beauty is not misty even when she stands side by side with Crescencia.

Well, Cress-tan is definitely cuter.

The girl, Lieselotte, came to the party with the royal family of Arcadia.

She probably was identified after the match and was immediately taken in and has been up to now.

For some reason, such a unprecedented princess quickly slipped through the circle of guards and came running toward me.

Even if I wanted to run away, the other side was too fast, and I didn't know whether it was okay to run at this point, so I couldn't move.

Schneizel and other skilled men were standing still, unable to decide what to do against the royalty of another country.

In the meantime, my arm was grabbed tightly, and Lieselotte was staring at me at close range.

"Hmmm. Well, I don't mind this one either."

"Ah, you know what?"

"Would you like to be my fiance?"

 ---Uh... uh, well...

What the heck is this?

My normally racing thoughts completely stopped. It was such an unusual and unpredictable turn of events.

The only words that spilled out of my mouth were those that did not involve thought, in other words, instinct.

"No, I don't want to.'

I'm devoted to Cress.
