Chapter 5

A person whom no one reached out to. The feeling of dying slowly as she felt the blood draining out of her body.

That desperate feeling of despair…

“No, please… You must not die.”

Elysia’s hands trembled, though she blindly covered the abdomen with the blood gushing out with her two hands. Even though her hands were glistening with crimson blood and soon dyed, she didn’t care.

Suddenly, tears flowed from the corners of her eyes.

“You… who are you?”

Then, the eyes of the man she thought had lost his consciousness flashed. It was obscured by darkness and blood, but he was clearly looking this way.

“….!”

“I asked who you were.”

Grab.

At that, Elysia groaned in pain at the power of the grip, unbelievable that it was the power of a dying person bleeding from so much blood. She glanced at the hand holding her wrist. He had lost a lot of blood, but the man was still conscious.

He’s not dead yet… He can live.

“Is that important now?”

“…It’s important.”

Every time the man spoke, the wound opened and blood gushed out. It was indeed a grotesque appearance, although Elysia did not avert her gaze.

It was probably the way she used to look like herself. She knew better than anyone how painful it was, and she shouldn’t have turned away from this man.

‘Save me, save me.’

‘Please…’

No one answered her desperate cry. It was right that no one had heard her cry, but one…

A man who was smiling happily at her words asking for help. The smile on the face was proof. Every time she asked for help, the line on the man’s lips grew stronger. And, he pierced his sword deeper and deeper into her body.

As if to make her beg more.

“Don’t talk. It’s bleeding!”

It had been a long time since her white hands were stained with bright red blood. No matter how much pressure was put in to stop the bleeding, the continuous flow of blood reminded her of the horrors of that day.

Her fingertips trembled in fear, but Elysia did not give up.

“Who are you?”

“I told you don’t talk! Do you want to die?”

“Do I want to die?”

Even when he was told not to speak, the man did not stop talking.

As the blood continued to flow, it was Elysia’s side that was anxious. However, the man was so calm that it was hard to believe he was dying soon.

“If you don’t want to die, be quiet. Also, will you let go of my hand? It hurts.”

He gripped her wrist so tightly that the entire hand that was caught was tingling. He looked almost dying, and she wondered where this terrifying power came from. That was why it was not strange to say that the man in front of her was going to die soon.

Her face was frowning upon the smell of the pulsating blood that covered his whole body to the extent that she could not recognize his face. It was surprising that he was speaking so well now.

“….”

A low sigh escaped Elysia’s mouth as his grip slipped loosen at the words that she was in pain. She pretended it wasn’t a big deal, but the truth was that it hurt so much that she thought her bones were crushed. She wondered where the hell he was hiding such a monstrous and terrifying power.

It was probably the last thing he had done before he died. She was like that back then.

Gathering her last remaining strength, Elysia tried to push the culprit down, but she did remember that the culprit did not budge.

“The blood keeps coming out, so please don’t say anything.”

Judging by the constant bleeding, it seemed like a pretty deep wound.

The counties were near the capital. No matter how dark it was at night, the security was tight as it was near the capital. There was only one person who would have done such a daring thing to cause such a wound.

Damon Raphael.

It seemed that he was already killing innocent people. Damon couldn’t stand the boiling urge to kill, so he headed to the battlefield on his own. At first, he was able to control his murderous intentions just by going to the battlefield. However, he could not stop his growing desire to kill.

He killed people almost every night. Murder with no purpose or target. Damon said he murdered until his desires were no more. He was a psychopath who got excited every time he saw the boiling blood.

Everyone Damon killed ended up covered in blood like this.

“Crazy person… He was really crazy.”

No matter how much it was a character she set herself, it was different to see it with her own eyes. While making Damon such a bloodthirsty killer, she felt no guilt about it. After all, he was a fictional character in the book.

It was said that no matter how cruel, it was not reality.

Nevertheless, the man in front of her now was the victim. He was the victim of a setting she had inadvertently made. It was as if she had made the worst killer ever.

Riip, riipp.

Elysia tore the hem of her dress, shaking her hands at the rush of guilt. Her old dress was ripped to pieces without strength, even with the slightest force. She then tied the ends of the torn dress hem to create something like a bandage.

“What are you doing now…”

“I told you not to talk.”

All she could do right now was this. To wrap the hem of her dress so that no more blood comes out. As she rolled up the ripped fabric, Elysia stumbled several times because of the non-stop tears and trembling hands.

But, the bleeding was still there. The cloth quickly soaked in blood, and she was anxious.

To be honest, this man in front of her had no hope of living. He would probably die slowly, like she was that day.

“Are there any other wounds?”

‘Elysia, please don’t let this man in front of you die,’ she said to herself.

At least, now that he’s breathing, it means Damon hasn’t completely blackened yet. Damon never left the murder place. One of Damon’s hobbies was to keep watching until the victim died completely.

“It’s okay. Stop being nervous.”

“Now, what are you talking about…”

“There are no injuries other than that.”

Elysia did not believe the man’s words that he had no injuries other than a wound on his stomach. There was too much blood for that.

“Really. You can look at them all if you want.”

In order for her to examine the wounds in the dark, she was forced to trace the man’s entire body. The wound on his stomach was immediately recognizable because of the constant bleeding. Though she couldn’t see if the other wounds were shallow.

“I think it’ll be fine if you touch it.”

***

The man was crazy. No, he must have been a pervert, not crazy. He said it would be fine for her to touch!

Since he seemed to be dying, so she helped him, but Elysia burst into laughter because of the strange-looking man.

“Are you crazy?”

“No, I’m not crazy.”

Seeing the nonsensical things he said, the man seemed to be fine.

She wanted to leave the man immediately, although the reason she didn’t leave was because of her last remaining guilt. Elysia felt guilty that he might have become like this because of her.

“Seeing you making strange noises, you seem to be fine.”

“Why did you cry?”

“Yes?”

When asked why she cried, Elysia’s head tilted slightly. It was difficult for her to have a conversation because of the man’s way of speaking. In addition, it was strange to see him reacting so calmly while bleeding like this.

Surely, like someone who is used to getting hurt like this.

There could be no such person.

She shook her head at her absurd thoughts. This was a place where medicine was not well developed. Except for the high-ranking nobles who could receive magic treatment, it was a world where if there was a big wound or disease, there was no choice but to die.

“You are crying. Why did you cry?”

“This…”

“Because you feel sorry for me?”

“No, it’s not—”

In fact, she had to talk so much to explain to the man why she cried.

That she had this experience before? Or, did she feel guilty for making Damon Raphael this way? Of course, she couldn’t tell the man any of the reasons.

“Or, is it because you are afraid?”

“….”

It was correct.

The man came straight to the point. Everything was excuses. It was because she was scared. Elysia was scared that a person was dying right in front of her eyes, and she was scared because she thought it was her who caused this man to die.

The moment she saw the man, she realized how terrible and frightening she had done.

…She had created a rare killer with her own hands.

“Don’t cry. Think of who I am, and don’t cry for me.”

Compared to Elysia’s blood-drenched hands, the clean man’s hands gently wiped the tears from her eyes.

“….”

The man’s hand touched the corner of her eye a few times and then fell off.

Elysia blinked her eyes like a fool in the sudden change of atmosphere. Not long ago, the man who didn’t know when he was going to die looked so good.

“And, I’m not going to die from this.”

“You bled so much, but you wouldn’t die…?”

If he had been a normal human, he had already lost enough blood to lose his consciousness in shock. Although the man was too sane. His calm voice and natural movements were the same.

“The blood has almost stopped now, right?”

It really was.

As if it all had been pouring out, there was no blood coming out. It didn’t look like it was because it was bandaged. Besides, it wasn’t a wound that would stop bleeding.

The man was in a state where it would not be strange to die at any time. But, all of a sudden he’s fine…?

Strangely enough, he was somehow very strange. It felt like being possessed by magic.

“How… It must have been a deep wound—”

“Now, answer the question. Who are you?”
