Chapter 13. Father

"Dear, you know a movie in which our son is going to feature is being released in a few months. Why don't we go with our family to watch it?"

During the dinner, Ren's mother asked his father amiably. There was a awkward atmosphere in the air.

Ren, his mother and father was sitting on a old broken down table and eating their dinner. The dinner was tasty but Ren didn't have time to savour the taste of the food.

"I don't like those low budget movies which don't even release all over the country."

His father said with a stern look. His look said that he was not interested in the movie but only Ren knew his father's hidden feeling.

Although his father looked cold outside, he knew that he was happy for him inwardly. His father was like this, he liked to hide his emotions.

His attitude was getting more cold as he didn't support him becoming a actor. He wanted him to find a job and get settled.

They had argued about this several times in the past and in his past life, Ren had also started somewhat hating his father for not supporting him.

It was only after his mother's death that his father had opened up to Ren.

Ren didn't knew if it was because of him losing mother or something else but his father had gradually started to open up to him.

They had became close and his father had also started supporting his choice of career.

Although, his father had started supporting him in the future, currently he is still cold towards Ren.

Ren had to prove himself to gain his father's trust and support.

"I think this time, the movie is going to be released all over the country."

"Huh??"

His father acted surprised for a second before putting on his usual cold look. Although, it was only for a second but Ren clearly show some happiness on his face when he heard that.

"Isn't it going to be released all over the country?"

His mother said as she looked towards Ren with a smile.

"Yeah, it's going to be released in almost all the theatres."

Ren said as he slightly rubbed his neck. He glanced at his father to look at his reaction but his father face was still cold.

"What if it's going to be released all over the country. It must be another flop movie with no plot."

His father said as he argued. His argument was also reasonable as Ren was in the year when movies didn't do well.

Many movies which were estimated to be a hit were barely able to breakeven due to their incompetent plot and weak acting skills.

It was the era when many new actors replaced the old actors.

Ren was in the era where people liked to see idols more than movies. They would rather go on a idol group live concert instead of watching a movie.

"No matter what type of movie it is, we are going to be watching it in the theatres. It's the least we can do as family."

She knew that Ren didn't like him, putting up a cold attitude.

"I had already said that I am not going to watch s movie. Anyway, our son is not going to be the lead in it."

"What if he has a small role. At least, it's a role. Nowadays, it's not easy to get a role in a movie without any background."

"Huff!!"

Ren's father scoffed at that and stood up. He didn't wanted to argue with her.

"I am going to have some drinks. Sleep on your own and don't wait for me."

Before his mother could say anything, his father had already left leaving his half-eaten food on the table.

His mother sighed after his father left. She turned towards Ren and said with a tired look.

"Ren, don't take that old man seriously. He didn't show it but he secretly wished for your success."

His mother wanted to appease him but Ren was not affected with his father's attitude.

"It's okay, mother. I understand."

Although he said that with a smile, his mother still didn't believe that he was fine but she didn't continued the subject and said.

"Oh, yes, what type of role are you playing? You haven't told me about it."

His mother was really curious about his role. Although she knew that it was just a minor role, she still wanted to hear about it.

"Ah, it's just a minor role."

Ren said as he lied. He didn't wanted to lie but he wanted his mother to watch him directly on the screen.

He wanted to see their surprised faces when they saw his acting on the screen. He was sure that his father would be greatly shocked by it.

"Don't worry if it's a minor role, it's hard but you will surely succeed if you try hard enough."

"Yeah, I will surely succeed."

After dinner, Ren went back to his room and started thinking about future.

He was tired because of the shoot but more than tiredness, he was excited about his future.

'I have to become a famous actor, no I will become a famous actor.'

It was the only way to solve all of his problems. He had to become a actor not only because of his dream but also because of his family.

He can give his family a better life that way and treat his mother's heart disease. That was his first goal.

For doing that, he would need money and although he knew that his fees would increase for the movie, it was not efficient for his mother's disease.

He had to get more money and the easiest way to gain money currently would be to sign a agency.

Not only a agency can help him pick better scripts and gain more exposure, he would also be able to get introduce to several programs.

Now, the problem was, which agency he should choose.

Ren didn't want to be hasty in making this decision. Choosing a bad agency can practically end a actor's life.

In that regard, he was lucky as both the agencies interested in him had a good reputation in the market.

They are both the dream agencies of the aspiring actors and singers.

Ren had a advantage in choosing the agency as not only he knew about their past, he also knew about their future.

He first opened his laptop and started making plans for the future. He was pondering on the best path he could choose to become a star.

This way, Ren kept working for a long time before finally falling asleep but he didn't knew that the next morning, he will get a shocking news.
