Chapter 32. Interview

"Ren, I am getting nervous."

White bear said to Ren. His face was nervous and even his fingers were shaking.

"Why are you so nervous when I am the one giving the interview?"

Ren questioned him as he stared at him. They were currently inside a small room waiting for the interview to commence.

Ren was somewhat nervous about it since it was his first interview but White bear was more nervous than him.

"It's not that. I am just worried about the reporter, Hou Fang. He's a senior reporter who had written countless articles. If you just slip up a bit, he can write a proactive article and then…"

White bear didn't have to finish his entire sentence as Ren already know what would happen if a proactive article about him really published.

The situation would be dire then, he has just started gaining popularity. A proactive article will harm his career in more than one way.

"I will be careful. Don't worry, I have revised the doc.u.ments Chief Jiang had given me. I will be fine."

"It will be good if all the things go well."

"Yeah."

Shortly after that, Both of them were led to the interview room where Hou Fang was already waiting for him.

"Hello, nice to meet you."

"Yeah, you too. Please take care of me."

Hou Fang was a middle aged man who looked to be in his 40s. Ren had heard quite a lot about him.

After some brief greeting, Ren and White bear took their respective seats and the interview started.

"So, how are you feeling sitting here? You must be nervous since it's your first interview."

The first question was a generic question and Ren easily answered it.

After that, Hou Fang kept asking him questions like 'How did you get the role?' or 'What are your thoughts on the movie?'.

They were easy to answer as Ren had practised them before. He didn't have much difficulty in answering them.

After some questions, Hou Fang finally asked a strange question.

"You know Chu Min way before this movie, right. Can you tell me more about how you met?"

"Well, actually I met him when after I started doing theatre. He was a senior back then and we got along pretty well. That's how our friendship started."

Ren answered it perfectly. He didn't give any misleading comments and just kept it simple.

"Yeah, your chemistry in the movie was great too, especially the last scene. Although it was great, I found some comments about it on the internet. Can I read them for you?"

"....Sure."

Ren felt that it was strange and looked towards White bear but his face was also blank. He could only continue the interview.

"A anonymous user wrote 'I bet he was only able to get that role because of his relationship with Chu Min. He is just a second rate actor'. What do you want to say about it?"

'Here it comes!!'

Ren thoughts were in a mess when he heard that question. He knew that if he answered wrongly, Hou Fang can make it into a controversy.

Hou Fang had asked this question to anger him. He was thinking that Ren would make a mistake in anger but Ren was not short tempered.

He took a deep breath and decided to answer the question calmly.

"Well, it's true that Brother Chu introduced me to the role but I auditioned for the role. I think you will find that sort of information on the internet. Director Zhu was even thinking of getting another actor to play the role, it was only because of my acting that I was able to secure it. As for the comment about being a second rate actor, I think it's reasonable, I am still a rookie. I still had many things to learn."

Ren gave the answer to that question calmly and perfectly. He didn't say anything about the person who had made that comment nor he criticised it.

"Your answer was good, let's talk about another topic. How was your experience working with Director Zhu?"

Hearing him give the answer perfectly, Hou Fang also changed the topic. He didn't dwell on it any longer and started asking about his experience at the set.

Ren quickly answered those questions as he had prepared for it and they were only generic questions.

Seeing the interview going well, White bear face also started to exhibit a glow.

"So, What was your experience working with Li Xinru? I mean, what do you think of her?"

The next question Hou Fang threw at him looked simple but it was actually a tricky one.

If Ren answered that he liked her, then Hou Fang use it to create a dating scandal between them.

They were very hot right now because of the movie, if the news came that he liked her, then it can be easily converted into a controversy.

That's why, he decided to give a smile reply to this question.

"Well, working with her was rather pleasant. She is a good actor and I learned many things from her. She is a nice person to work with and we became good friends during the shooting.p""

Ren answered that question by giving focus on -the work part. He was literally saying that they do not have any other relationship aside from the work.

"Oh, okay. Then, the next question."

This way the interview continued for another half hour. In this short span of time, Hou Fang asked him many questions and albeit there were some tricky ones in it like 'Do you have a girlfriend?' or 'What type of girl do you like?'.

He just answered them briefly as he did not want to indulge in that sort of topic for long.

In the end, Ren was able to complete the interview without any problems.

After some photos with Hou Feng, he and White bear left the E-media office.

"It's good that we were able to complete the interview without any problems?"

"Yeah."

In the car, both Ren and White bear took a deep breathe.

'Why am I so interested in knowing her?'

It was the topic about Xiao Rin who he had met last night.

He didn't knew why but he was interested in her, it was not love, he was sure of it. It was just curiosity.

He wanted to find the answers to some of the questions regarding her.

Maybe, it was because he was a fan of her in his previous life but nonetheless, he wanted to find more about her situation.

He could be over thinking it but he felt that something was wrong with her. Her behaviour yesterday was somewhat unusual, especially when he asked her about her course.

She was surely startled when he had asked that question.

'Come to think of it, Xiao Rin hasn't talked much about her past in her interviews.'

When he recalled her interviews he had watched, he noticed that there was not much information on her past.

Ren felt that the possibility that she had a past trauma was high. Maybe something is happening to her in the agency.

The more Ren thought the more confused he became but he was not able to stop himself from thinking about it.
