Chapter 51. Audition

"Are you nervous, Ren?"

White bear asked Ren as they exited the van. They were currently at the Arc production office, ready to give the audition.

Two days ago, Arc production had contacted them for a audition and they had settled the audition for today.

"No, more than nervousness. I am feeling excitement."

"It's good then but you have memorised the lines, right."

"Don't worry about it."

For the past few days, Ren was trying to act out the scenes in the screenplay. He had constantly acted out the scenes and memorised the lines.

Although he was tired, not a ounce of tiredness could be seen on his face, instead he was too excited for the audition.

"Let's go in."

The audition was on the second floor, so they had to take the elevator to go there.

As soon as they walked out of the elevator, they moved to the audition room.

As soon as Ren entered the room, he was greeted by various faces.

There was Zhu Yi, the person who was going to direct the drama, Director Fu and the CEO of Arc production, CEO Wang.

"Hello, I am Xin Ren. It's nice to meet you."

Ren and White bear introduced themselves to the people in the room.

"Hello, we were waiting for you. Let's go to the inner room, that's where the audition would be held."

They were greeted back by a man with glasses. He was one of the producers.

After some greeting, Ren and White bear followed him to the inner room.

Of course CEO Wang, Zhu Yi and Director Fu also followed after them.

As they were walking towards the room, Ren felt that many gazes were on him. Many people were trying to evaluate him.

Although there were many gazes on him, he didn't show it on his face and just walked calmly.

"You have memorised your script, right."

The producer who had led him to the room asked and Ren replied while nodding his head.

"Then it's good. We will tell you to do a scene and evaluate you on it. Are you fine with it?"

Director Fu said and Ren nodded. He also don't have any choice but to go with the director's decision.

"Okay, your scene would be episode 1, scene 26. Can you do it?"

Director Fu said while flipping the pages of the script and Ren was surprised when he heard that.

It was not because he hasn't memorised it yet or anything, it was because the scene Director Fu was mentioning was a one-man act.

Meaning that Ren have to do this scene alone. He has no counterpart to act the role with.

"Director, don't you think it's excessive to start with that scene. I think we should start with something easier."

Zhu Yi said as she whispered into Director Fu's ear. She was worried that Ren would not be able to do this scene as it was a important and hard scene.

It was the scene in which the male lead will complain about his life to the stars in the sky and loathe them as they never fulfilled his wish.

It was not a easy scene to do.

"I just want to know his acting calibre. If he can't do this scene, then he should forget about being a lead."

Director Fu was known for his strict temperament especially towards the acting. He can't endure weak acting and wants to bring the best in the actors.

"So, will you do this role?"

"I do not have any problem doing this role."

Ren said with certainty in his eyes. Although he was surprised that he has to do this scene right away, he was not worried about it.

He has worked hard to prepare for this role.

"Okay, then let's start the scene."

CEO Wang said and Ren took his position in the centre of the room.

White bear was giving him a 'you can do it' look but he was worried inwardly.

All the other staff members were also looking at him especially Director Fu and CEO Wang.

Ren closed his eyes to concentrate and after a while he heard the director's voice and the scene started.

Ren took a deep breath and started acting out his scene.

"You think I am pathetic, right. You are looking down on me, right."

Ren said as he leaked out a laughter mocking himself. He was looking upwardly as if he was staring into the vast sky but in reality, he was inside a packed room.

But Ren was imagining a sky and he was currently staring at it.

"You know I myself know I am pathetic, a man who is a loser, someone who don't have any future, someone no woman wants to go out with and someone who lost his...…"

Ren's sentence starts to break out in the end and his self mocking expression changed into one of sadness.

"I lost her, dammit. The woman who I thought I hated but still loved, I, I lost her, damn. I, I...can't be with her."

He shouted towards the sky with eyes full of regrets and tears. He was looking like a man whose heart has been broken into several pieces.

"I, I, she died. She died without me knowing. I only found out now, I was not even able to visit her funeral. I am feeling the worst right now. No, I am the worst."

All of his feelings came into his face as he showed a mixture of emotions. Regrets, self loathing, anger, sadness and longing.

"But you know there is someone more worse than me, it's you all. You bastards, people say you fulfil the wishes but you, you never fulfilled mine."

His expression suddenly changed to anguish as he pointed at the stars. Ren was supposed to be dead drunk in this scene, he was not in his normal state of mind.

"You remember, right. Ten years ago, I made a wish but it, it never got fulfilled, in the end, I even lost her..."

Again tears started flowing out of his eyes as he remembered his love that he had lost. His eyes were already red and seeing his heartbroken look made one feel bad for him.

"You know it also not your fault. What can you do when you are just lying bastards. Haha."

He just kept crying for a while as he kept recalling the girl he thought he hated, the girl who had dumped him but he now realised that he still loved her.

It was all frustrating feeling but he has no choice but to accept it as he kept recalling the person he had hated, loved and longed for.
