Chapter 25: The Ill-Fated

“What’s going on?”

Donald frowned as he approached Thulhu.

Being targeted by an extraordinary, especially a mysterious, creepy one, was by no means pleasant.

“You’re not afraid? This isn’t your first time seeing extraordinary power?”

Thulhu stared at Donald as he asked him the question.

“My mentor mentioned it once.”

Donald admitted the fact and asked Thulhu, “It came for you?”

“Maybe, maybe not. Who knows…” Thulhu shrugged.

The shadow hadn’t spoken. Thulhu wouldn’t step out and say he was responsible for this.

“Now there are extraordinaries even in the university…” murmured Donald in a low voice.

“It’s normal, isn’t it?”

Thulhu said it on purpose, thinking of Dawn of the Gods as mentioned by Roald.

“I knew it!” The look on Donald’s face suddenly changed. “You’re part of that circle! At least, you know of them!”

“Well…” Thulhu’s attitude remained ambiguous. “What do you want to do… about tonight?”

Donald enjoyed a good reputation and status in the university. Perhaps he knew something about those extraordinaries.

“The shadow tried to turn me into a murderer. I’m not just going to let this go!”

The look on Donald’s face was very gloomy. At that moment, he had been staring death in the face. “I’ll get my revenge! But the enemy is an extraordinary, so I have to draw up a perfect plan. Maybe the police can deal with it if there are enough clues…”

Thulhu nodded, poker-faced. “I also won’t let her run away!”

“It’s a woman?” Donald lifted his eyebrows slightly. “If you want to do something as well, maybe we can work together and share the secret of becoming an extraordinary!”

In front of Thulhu, Donald finally confessed his ambition.

“Are you… in a rush?” asked Thulhu curiously.

“I have to be… Things are different now…” Donald clenched his fists. “I need to become an extraordinary! As soon as possible!”

“Alright. What do you have? Maybe we can discuss it!”

Thulhu nodded.

Although Donald lost the fight, he could certainly be seen as a very outstanding young man among the common people. Also, Donald was the president of the fight club, and thus must have extensive connections. Perhaps he could help Thulhu.

“It sounds like you have some suspects?” Donald’s eyes lit up at Thulhu’s words.

“Yes,” Thulhu admitted. “I have a few. What are you going to do?”

“I need some time to prepare!” said Donald.

He wasn’t going to make a decision right away on such an important matter. Therefore, Thulhu and Donald agreed on a place and time to meet tomorrow.

Watching Donald leave, Thulhu looked pensive.

Honestly speaking, if it hadn’t been for what happened to Beatrice, Thulhu would have turned to the police for help a long time ago.

There was an address on the card which the female officer, Marilyn, had left with him.

Although Marilyn had been assigned to Beatrice’s case, as a police officer, she still had to treat a case of attempted murder seriously. But before speaking with Marilyn, Thulhu had to discuss some details with Donald to make sure that they were on the same page.

It would be silly for him to challenge the two female casters on his own.

Looking to the police for help should be the right direction to take.

Thulhu would be a hidden observer, and he hoped to also get some benefit out of it. Meanwhile, he could see how powerful the union actually was.

However, Beatrice was the key to his plan!

Both the two witches and Thulhu himself knew that Beatrice had already died in the cafe!

If the police found the witches, and the witches confessed, Thulhu would be put in jail the next day!

Therefore, Thulhu had to be extremely cautious with his plan to involve the police.

There was no way that he could defeat a witch who was prepared right now.

Soon, Thulhu came up with another possibility: The witch had only controlled the shadow, and thus might have no idea that Beatrice was dead. Thulhu compared the risks, and made up his mind – he needed to talk to the police.

Although Thulhu seemed quite aggressive and powerful in the fight earlier, it was in fact largely because the witches were caught off guard. Tiger Power helped him get rid of the shadow, and his strong spirit helped him resist the mental pressure.

If the witches were prepared, Thulhu believed he would very likely have failed.

He was still too weak. The system had decided that the fight earlier was a draw, and thus didn’t give Thulhu any XP.

Thulhu yearned for power. Once again, he pulled out his attributes panel:

——————————————

Name: [Thulhu Botley]

Occupation: [none]

Class: [0]

Title: [none]

Strength: [1.3] (1.5); Agility: [1.2]; Constitution: [0.8] (1.0); Spirit: [1.6]

Skill: [Corpse Princess LV1]; [Maga Fighting LV4]

Passive: [Common Heber LV3]; [Basic Physics LV4]; [Demon Hunting LV1]; [Ancient Heber LV2]

XP: [90]

State: Enervation

——————————————

He had 90XP!

That was the biggest number he had seen so far! It came from the fight he had with Donald and the many rats he had killed in the sewers.

He could now choose to upgrade [Maga Fighting LV4] or [Corpse Princess LV1].

Thulhu guessed that [Maga Fighting LV5] would improve his constitution and strength by 0.1. In fact, though, he was quite curious about what would happen if he upgraded Corpse Princess.

Since upgrading Corpse Princess would cost him more XP, he supposed that the gains would also be more astounding.

Feeling a little insecure, Thulhu gently touched the ‘+’ behind the [Corpse Princess LV1] skill.

Ding!

[The Ill-Fated (occupation) is a prerequisite for upgrading Corpse Princess LV1. Spirit required: 2.0! Requirement is not met! Upgrade failed!]

“What?”

Thulhu hurriedly checked the panel, and was greatly relieved to see that the failure hadn’t cost him any XP. He then released a heavy sigh.

He had this attributes panel which could increase his power quickly, but when it came to learning extraordinary skills, Thulhu would still face great difficulties.

There were still many secrets that Thulhu had to uncover before he could obtain an occupation. But what this attributes panel could in fact do was again beyond Thulhu’s expectations.

Although the upgrade failed, Thulhu was still very surprised.

The attributes panel had given him a fair bit of information.

Take Corpse Princess for example: since it was exclusively a necromancer spell, the special occupation, The Ill-Fated, was required, as well as enough spiritual power!

In other words, if Thulhu found a skill book that no one else could learn, he could probably use this system to uncover its secrets.

Then, without hesitation, Thulhu upgraded Maga Fighting.

It seemed that each time he upgraded Maga Fighting, it would cost him twice the amount of XP compared with the previous upgrade.

But Thulhu was prepared for the cost.

The increase in agility was somewhat of a surprise to him.

If he could train up to the ultimate combat level, perhaps he could directly become an extraordinary!
