“Wait…”

Thulhu could only watch Roald dash out of the room and disappear down the corridor.

Maybe Roald had done it on purpose, but Thulhu really didn’t think it was a good idea for Roald to leave his inexperienced young brother here alone to face the demon follower.

“How dare you!”

It was at that moment that Garein finally realized what had just happened. Like a beast, his eyes turned red and he puffed white smoke out of his nose. “You tried to hurt my daughter?! My sweet daughter?!”

“No, sir… It’s a misunderstanding!” Thulhu hurriedly said.

Meanwhile, he quickly pulled out the shotgun from his bag and flicked the safety off. He raised the gun at Garein and said, “You’re just sick. Trust me… You need treatment!”

Well, the treatment would require a gun.

The Goddess of Light Church’s attitude toward demon followers had always been cold and firm.

Thulhu knew that Garein would definitely come to a bad end, but he just couldn’t pull the trigger.

He hadn’t killed anyone before, not in this life or his previous one!

Thulhu needed to have confidence in himself. Like Roald said, a demon follower didn’t deserve any mercy, and should no longer be regarded as a human being.

Killing him was for his own good. His soul would be able to escape the demon’s fangs and claws.

Also, Thulhu would be able to test his attributes panel.

He took a deep breath and was about to pull the trigger.

“Ahh!!”

At that moment, a woman showed up at the door and screamed.

She was a middle-aged woman in a white nightgown. However, her lips were as red as a rose. “What are you… what are you doing to my husband?”

Thulhu thought Garein’s wife had died a long time ago.

Thulhu was stunned for a second. Seizing the chance, Garein instantly jumped at him.

To protect his family, this craftsman’s efforts were impressive.

However, it was still nothing to Thulhu.

Bang!

He smashed Garein hard to the floor.

Staring at the woman standing in front of him, Thulhu wondered if the demon really had brought her back to life. But like Roald said, she was no longer human, but an evil spirit!

Thulhu turned around and aimed his gun at the woman.

“Elisa, go!”

At that moment, Garein hurriedly crawled his way over and stood in front of his wife.

Thulhu’s eyes suddenly opened wide.

Behind Garein, Thulhu saw the woman’s red mouth open bigger and bigger until the corners of her mouth ripped, all the way up to the back of her ears. Then, a long, writhing tongue snaked out between her lips.

Meanwhile, her body had become half-transparent.

An evil spirit? Or a ghost?

Thulhu pulled the trigger without hesitation.

Bang!

The tremendous recoil hurt a lot. If it were an ordinary person using the gun, the weapon might have flown out of their grip. But Thulhu’s strength and constitution had surpassed the physical limits of an ordinary man, and his gunshots were thus rather steady. Smoke filled the room.

The smoke soon cleared. Garein’s body was riddled with bullet holes. However, behind him, the evil spirit now looked even more horrific.

Her beauty was completely gone. Her face was as pale as a dead body. Her long tongue was scarlet.

Blood gushed out from her body, soaking the white nightgown red.

Meanwhile, she quickly absorbed Garein’s blood that was on the floor, like a sponge.

She was now covered in blood.

She was an evil spirit! A real one!

A chill ran down Thulhu’s spine when he saw this.

While demon hunters were indeed strong and tough, they weren’t proficient at dealing with spirits.

Of course, they had special bullets for fighting spirits, but the power they used was greatly reduced.

Thulhu now only had one special bullet left.

[XP +40]

That was Thulhu’s gain from killing Garein.

As Thulhu expected, killing an enemy brought him much higher XP. Although Garein was just an ordinary man, the reward for killing him was higher than defeating anyone in the fight club. Wait… He was a demon follower, so perhaps he was no longer an ordinary man…

“Ahh!”

Staring at Thulhu, the evil spirit screamed.

The sharp scream instantly shattered the glass windows into countless tiny fragments.

There was no way that Thulhu could handle this on his own.

He kept retreating backward.

The spirit floated in the air and reached out with its claws.

Thulhu had to leave this place! Now!

Thulhu swung his arms fiercely, intending to use Crane Style to jump out of the door behind the spirit.

Hiss…

The next moment, he felt a sharp sting in his left arm.

The pain quickly spread up his arm as it instantly went numb.

“Damn!”

There were three purple fingerprints on his left arm, courtesy of the evil spirit.

“Roald, where are you?!”

Thulhu felt that he might die here.

Fortunately, despite his injury, he at least managed to dash out of the room. After Thulhu rushed downstairs, he saw Roald trapped in a fight against three fiends.

It… it was a trap!

Thulhu’s head buzzed.

He picked up a chair and charged at one of the fiends. “Fuck off!”

Bang!

He used all his strength. The chair was smashed into pieces on the fiend, and its green pus splattered everywhere.

Only a broken chair leg was left in Thulhu’s hand. He looked down at it, then stabbed it into the fiend’s stomach.

Puff!

The fiend, which looked like a cross between a bat and a monkey, fell to the floor. After several spasms, it finally died.

[XP +50]

“Watch out, there’s one above you!”

Thulhu yelled at Roald.

“I know. The combination’s… weird…”

The pressure on Roald eased up significantly. He quickly tossed Thulhu a dagger with one hand, and used the other to pull the trigger. The barrel was in the fiend’s mouth, so the bullet instantly blew the fiend’s head off.

Bang!

The disgusting pus and blood splashed over the wall behind the fiend.

“Last one!” Roald laughed. “And the holy water for the evil spirit!”

Roald dropped his arm.

At that moment, Thulhu felt a chill run down his spine again.

Thulhu had no idea when, but the evil spirit in the red dress had come downstairs. Her hands reached out from the wall behind Roald. One hand firmly covered Roald’s mouth and the other grabbed his neck, lifting Roald into the air.

Struggling, Roald could only make muffled sounds.

His face turned purple, and he kept kicking fiercely in the air.

This evil spirit was even more powerful than a rank two demon hunter?!

Thulhu was utterly shocked.

Although demon hunters weren’t proficient in dealing with spirits, Thulhu thought that they should at least be able to fight back.

But Roald wasn’t going to be able to hang on for long!
