Chapter 58: Eliminating and Killing

Warehouse no. 2.

The heavy door slid open. The place was rather vast.

The brothers walked in, on high alert.

There were big chunks of ice piled up everywhere in the warehouse. Rolling white mist covered the ground.

“Roald, you’re not a man of your word!”

A hoarse voice came from around the corner. “We want you. Only you!”

“This’s my brother. He’s always with me!”

Roald spoke out loud, his voice echoing in the warehouse.

Suddenly, creepy, green flames lit up the place.

In the green light, two men held a captive between them by his arms. The captive’s head was covered with a sack. They slowly walked out of the darkness. “Are you here to negotiate?”

“Let go of him! Shawn doesn’t know anything!”

Thulhu was a good actor. He was pretending that he was just a reckless moron.

“No worries…”

One of the men put a sharp blade to Shawn’s neck. “It’s simple. Your brother just needs to do several things: First, return the holy book page. Second, never trouble us again…”

“What a load of garbage,” murmured Roald.

Meanwhile, Roald cast a glance at Thulhu. Thulhu shook his head slightly.

That wasn’t Shawn.

A spirit medium didn’t see with their eyes, but with spiritual perception!

“Third…”

The man wouldn’t stop.

Thulhu nodded slightly to Roald, whose patience had run out.

Roald quickly pulled out a dagger and hurled it fiercely at the man.

Puff!

Driven by Roald’s demon power, the blade cut directly into the fake captive’s neck! Instantly, lots of blood spurted from the cut!

“You! Are you crazy?!”

The two men were totally shocked.

The sack covering the captive’s head fell to the ground. As Thulhu had determined, the man wasn’t Shawn.

“It seems that neither of us came here in good faith. We can cut the chit-chat now!”

Roald pulled out his revolver and grinned.

Bang!

Meanwhile, Thulhu cast Spirit Crush!

However, it didn’t work as well as Thulhu had expected.

The two men in front of them quickly responded. Their hands were instantly covered in dark purple smoke.

A rank one apprentice and a rank two The Ill-Fated? That was Thulhu’s guess.

Thulhu didn’t know for sure, but their spiritual power was clearly greater than that of ordinary people.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Roald pulled the trigger three times without hesitation. Two shots bounced off a force field, but the last bullet hit one of the men in the chest.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

At that moment, Thulhu and Roald heard more shots from outside the warehouse. It was Jack! The fight had also started on that end!

“Spirit Thrust!”

Facing the remaining man, Thulhu pierced the man’s mind with a thrust comprised of his spiritual power.

“Ahh!”

The highly concentrated spiritual power was more targeted and powerful than Spirit Crush!

The man gripped his head and rolled back and forth on the ground in agony.

Thulhu released a sigh of relief. The man was just a rank one apprentice.

Roald walked over to them and coldly slit their throats.

“Remember: When you’re still weak, a gun can save your life. That’s why [Gun Fighter] is basically the most powerful occupation of all rank two occupations.”

The biggest difference between human beings and animals was that human beings were much better at using tools.

Thulhu nodded and helped Roald search the bodies quickly before they ran out of the warehouse to help Jack.

Darkness had fallen. There was the constant sound of loud gunshots from warehouse no. 6.

Jack was the lucky draw winner: they were fighting the main force.

“Don’t underestimate the union’s power. The occupation, [Gun Fighter], originated with the military. A group of soldiers equipped with guns can spell big trouble, even for a rank three expert!”

Roald used the opportunity to teach Thulhu.

However, Thulhu’s eyes were fixed on the fight.

In front of warehouse no. 6, skeletons were rising from the muddy ground. Some of them were equipped with armor and weapons.

It was a fierce fight between the detectives and the members of Black Death.

Without doubt, Jack was the one who had killed most of the enemy.

Dressed in a long, black jacket, he held his gun with both hands. Shooting into the darkness, Jack looked like the real Death harvesting lives.

Bang!

Jack pulled the trigger. The bullet hit a steel plate and bounced off in the opposite direction. This operation allowed Jack to avoid the barrier and shoot his bullets at a very tricky angle. Although the ricochet consumed much of the bullet’s momentum, it still easily pierced the chest of a man in a black robe and exploded violently.

“The bullet just switched directions! A gunfighter can do that?!”

Thulhu’s eyes widened in surprise as he murmured the words.

“Look. A necromancer is good at widespread destruction, but usually is physically vulnerable. This is a weakness which most casters share, including spirit mediums!”

Roald spoke in a deep voice.

“I see.” Thulhu took a deep breath. He still remembered the shot which had snuffed out Katherine’s life.

Before Katherine was shot, he had sensed great danger, and the situation today looked familiar to him.

“Damn! You Black Hounds!”

From inside warehouse no. 6 came a furious voice.

“Paisnow! A Class C suspect wanted by the union on suspicion of multiple murders and poisonings!”

Jack shouted out loud but never slowed down in his shooting. His bullets followed curved trajectories which could even break through the skeletons’ multi-layer defenses and put out their soul flames!

“In the name of the union, receive your sentence!”

“Recently, the union and the church have been paying special attention to people like this necromancer…”

Standing beside Thulhu, Roald lowered his voice. “They’re great threats to the union and the church. With their profound knowledge and experience, these people have become experts and masters in the Twilight of the Gods, and will most likely continue to grow in the coming Dawn. Before that happens, the union and the church have to wipe them out!”

“I know what you’re saying.”

Thulhu nodded seriously.

Roald was warning Thulhu: Never become arrogant. An extraordinary might become so overly confident that they might even try to challenge the union. That was completely stupid.

At that moment, Paisnow’s hoarse voice came from inside the warehouse again.

“I curse you!

“In the name of dead souls…

“You are deprived of your power! Your feet will grow heavy! Your body… will gradually decay!”

A necromancer could curse his or her enemies.

Dark green light fell on Jack.

Jack’s movements suddenly became slow and rigid. The muscles in his face twitched strangely with great pain.

At that moment.

Bang!

One side of the warehouse exploded. Several fully-equipped soldiers dashed into the warehouse!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Thulhu and Roald heard violent gunshots.

“That necromancer’s dead now,” said Roald.

He could say this for certain because the skeletons had all promptly collapsed.
